Lucy P.O.V

"Okay Luce, take a deep breath in, and out," Mira guided. I was in the hospital for my monthly check up exams. Mira was my private nurse for my pacemaker and had me run tests in strange machines. It's been the same thing the past year, since there was no change in my health. I followed Mira's simple commands with ease. Mira removed the stethoscope piece from my chest and removed the listeners from her ears with a smile. "Looks like everything is still normal."

"For me, anyways," I laughed awkwardly, buttoning up my shirt. She wrote things down on her notepad and began to ask me the usual questions. "Have you had an experience of chest pain due to excessive exercising."

"Nope."

"Have you had your pacemaker's frequency disrupted because of any electronics such as a phone or an iPod?"

"Nope."

"Has your pacemaker shown signs of a new battery being needed or any other kind of damage?"

"Nope." Mira nodded and wrote all these things down. I groaned. "Do we really have to go through the same protocol every month?"

"I'm sorry princess, but we have to do this every month to avoid any difficulty." Mira put her notepad down and act like a lazy bum."

"Oh, what a cruel world that would be," I said sarcastically.  Mira smirked, removing her white coat with her cashmere green sweater. "Come on, go take your meds and let's drop you off at school."

When I arrived at school, it was already noon, which meant Lisanna would be in archery. Ever since I transferred here, I haven't really talked to anyone but Lisanna. All my Troupe friends went to a public school, so that left them out. I sat alone on the bench by fountain eating my bento in silence. As I slurped my noodles in peace, I noticed something that was quite unsettling.

Natsu was staring at me from the distance. I really didn't want to make any contact with Natsu, especially after out little performance in drama class a few days ago. I quickly ate my last piece of rice and got the hell out of there. Suddenly, I heard something strange on the intercom. "Would Lucy Heartfilia, Levy McGarden, and Erza Scarlet please come to the principal's office."

Why am I being called to the principal's office, I thought in my head. Curious, I quickly made my way to the Mrs. Dragneel's office. I was suddenly stopped when someone grabbed my shoulder. That someone was sadly Natsu. "Hey, can we talk?" He asked.

I looked away from his gaze. "Um, not now. Your mom just called me into her office."

"Can't it wait?" I simply shook his hand ff my shoulder and just made my way to the principal's office. My mind was glued on the way Natsu looked. His eyes looked apologetic, and the tone of his voice followed that motion.  His yelling voice from that day still echoed in my mind. Can you please stop thinking about yourself! I shuddred as his manly shrill rang in my head. I just have to stop thinking about it, I thought in my head. Yeah, you can do that Luce. Just forget. Before I knew it, I was infront of Mrs. Dragneel's door. I took a deep breath and pushed the door open. When I entered through the doorway, I found Mrs. Dragneel and two other girls sitting down. One girl was blue haired like Len, with porclean white skin and a yellow ribbon in her hair. She looked petite for a high schooler. The other one was a red-headed beauty. She was curvy, but looked very tough and her eyes were a little intimadating. I waved my hand as a greeting and silently sat between the two of them. "Hello Lucy. In case you don't know, this is Levy, and this is Erza."

"Hi," I said sheepishly.

"Why did you call us?" Erza asked.

"Well, there happens to be a matter that I can only entrust you three with." Mrs. Dragneel sounded very serious when she said that. She continued to speak. "You see, Fairy Tail Academy has been going through a rough budget problem. We've lost sponsers, so we've lost money...We may have to shut down the school."

"What!" Levy squealed, standing up from her chair. "Y-You can't do that!"

"A lot of families are practically making here because of your financial help!" Erza cried as well. "Imagine what would happen to those families!"

"Girls, calm down," Mrs. Dragneel snapped. "I know this is hard to hear, but unless we can come up with 500,000 Jewels before the big Valentines Tax...we have to close down this school."

"Is there anything we can do? Fundraisers? Bake sales?" I asked.

"There is one way we can make enough money, and this is our only shot....is this." She pushed a flyer in front of us. It read, The Fiore School Tournament. "What's the Fiore School Tournament?" I asked.

"It's something that's held every year. It's pracically a Hunger Games for all the schools in Fiore," Levy explained.

"There are three representatives from each school must compete in three categories: athletics, arts, and academics; the three As," Erza said as well. "But our school never wins at all."

"Well we have to unless we want to lose FA!" I cried. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself. "I don't want to transfer schools after working so hard to get in this one." Mrs. Dragneel, knowing my difficult past, nodded. She handed the three of us a stack of papers and asked us finally, "Will the three of you be our representatives?"

I immediately stood up from my seat. "I will." Mrs. Dragneel smiled in a pleasing way. "As will I." The Erza girl stood from her seat, showing herself in a proud way. I heard Levy sigh. "I guess if everyone else is doing it, I'll do it too."

Mrs. Dragneel clapped her hands with delight. "Oh, I'm so happy! Turn these applications to me tomorrow and you can get started on training tomorrow!" The bell suddenly rang. "Well, I guess it's time for the three of you to get to class!" She shooed us away from her desk, and soon it was just the three of us standing outside the hall. We were all silent for a moment, making it very awkward. "So...when is this Fiore Tournament?" I asked.

"It should be the end of December," Erza explained. "Finally, an excuse to practice my martial arts training!"

"So I'm guessing you're gonna be doing the athletics section?" I asked.

"You know it. I've won this school over fifty championships in so many different sports. I feel honored representing FA, desptie the fact that we alway lose."

"I might as well represent the academic section. I have one of the highest GPAs in Fiore, so this should be easy."

"Then I guess that leaves me with the arts section...but I haven't done anything as amazing as you two," I sighed. Erza placed a hand on my shoulder and smiled. "I bet you'll do fine."

"Yeah! If we work together, then I bet we can save the school if we work together," Levy said. I smiled and looked at the two of them. "We can do this, can't we?"

"Of course!" The two of them said. The bell rang again once more, making us officially late for calss. "Crap, we're late!"

"I'll talk to you two later!" I cried. And with that, we ran towards our locker, thus creating a friendship that blooms.

Natsu P.O.V

I was riding my bike down the steep hill in solitude. Gray and Elfman wanted to ride with me, but I just needed to think, and riding alone helped me with that. Lucy was still ignoring me, especially after that slap. My head hanged low in embarrassment and shame. I doubt I'll be able to get Lucy to talk to me again, I thought with a sigh. It's pointless now.

Or so I thought.

Just as I was about to make my turn towards 7th street, at the last minute, I found a little boy in the middle of my path. I quickly turned around, skidding on the side of my bike and scrapping my body against the pavement. I rolled down the gravel hill, feeling the rocks stick inside my body, scratching and piercing my it. I groaned in pain, feeling blood trickle down my back and arm. I hear the sound of feet running towards my body. "Are you okay?" A young voice yelled. "Hello! Are you okay?"

I couldn't answer.

"Help!" The boy screamed. "Help!"

Before I could even see the boy's face, the whole world around me began to go black. The last thing I heard was a shrill voice screaming my name. "Natsu!"

I woke up to the smell of chocolate. I slowly began to open my eyes and was surrounded by an unfamiliar surrounding. I slowly turned my head and saw that I was in a living room  of some kind of small building. There was a TV, pictures from afar, and stacks of paper were all over the floor. Where...where am I? "He's awake!" A voice suddenly yelled, making my head pound. "He's awake, Sis!"

I groaned with pain. I heard more footsteps come from a distance, gradually getting louder and louder. I felt someone sit on the corner of bed I was laying on the bed. "And to think, you would mature by now," a familiar voice sighed. That voice made my eyes wide with shock. I lifted my head up to see the owner of that familiar voice. It was Lucy.

"L-Lucy!" I exclaimed, sitting up too quickly. My back sprained, making pain swell from my back. "Hey! Just lay down! It took me forever to stitch you up!" She scolded.

"What happened?" I groaned, examining all of the bandage all over my body.

"You almost ran over my little brother, that's what happened," she said. "You didn't see him until the last moment and you fell down a rocky hill. If it weren't for me leaving school early, I don't know what Len would've done." Lucy put a hot wet towel on my head and pressed it gently. She fluffled a pillow for me to use so I could get comfortable. "I called Aunt Mira, and she called your mom. She'll pick you up after a meeting."

"Hey, Luce! What do you wan't me to do about these brownies?" A male voice called from another room.

"Just bring them in here. Natsu is probably hungry." Lucy put some alchohol on a white cloth and gently dabbed it on my wounds. Sweet memories were filling my head as she did this. I fell off my bike and scrapped my knee. I had a huge fear of blood and was crying my eyes out, or at least until Lucy came. "Natsu, what happened?" She would ask in such a cute voice.

"My knee..It hurts," I would cry out. She would crouch down and stick a bandaid on my wound, and would give me a gentle hug. She would then sing me a song that her mom would sing to her when she was in pain. It went:

Little bird, there always will be pain

You will always get bruised

There will always be tears on your face

Whether they are tears of sadness

Or tears of pain

But just remember

There's always a friend beside you

Until the end of the day.

I yearned for those memories to come back once again. I was lucky enough to even get this close to Lucy now, but that was just it. Pure, dumb luck. I hissed at the sudden pain on my forehead. "Calm down. Your wound is deep here." She continued to press on it, making the pain even worse. Out of know where, my right arm reacted by grabbing her wrist, pulling her towards me. Our faces were only a few inches apart, making my heart skip a beat. I quickly let go and muttered, "Sorry...It hurt a lot."

"I bet," she muttered, her face not looking at mine. After a while, she finished disinfecting my wounds, she brought out some cooled brownies with whipped cream on top. "Here. I bet you're hungry."

I looked at the brownies and couldn't help but chuckle. I ended up cracking up hysterically in laughter. "W-What's wrong with you?" Lucy asked with fear.

"I-I'm sorry," I breathed, "but I can't believe you s-still put whipped cream on brownies!"

Lucy blushed with embarrassment. "Well SORRY! I happen to like it that way."

I took a deep breath. "Yeah, you've always been strange like that." The room was silent for a while. Shit Natsu, you made things awkward! I finally thought now was the time. The perfect time. I took a deep breath and finally said it. "I'm sorry." Lucy's head went up, and her eyes were in lock with mine. "Not just for what happened during class....but what happened six years ago. I shouldn't have abandoned you...I shouldn't have broken my promise...I'm sorry...I'm so sorry!" I felt tears streaming down my face. I hated crying, especially in front of other people. I quickly wiped the tears off my face and laughed awkwardly. "Sorry, this is just embarass-." I was interrupted by a sudden by Lucy grabbing my hands. They were shaking immensly. "When I woke up last year...I was so confused. So many years have passed in what seemed like just a simple nap. My parents were dead...and I had a new brother sitting by my hospital bed..."

She paused for a moment, wiping away the tears from her eyes. "All my hatred from my childhood was bottled up during those six years, and I was just so angry at you...that I wasn't thinking about how you felt...You made me realize that during drama class...I should be the one apologizing to you. You have no reason to apologize."

A smile was slowly formed across my face. I pulled Lucy's hand towards me and gave her a giant hug. Our first hug since we were reunited. She squeezed her arms around me, making my wounds ache. I laughed awkwardly. "I know this is all heart warming and all...but you're making my back ache."

Lucy quickly unwrapped her arms around me. "I'm so sorry!"

I smiled. "It's alright. It was worth it." Lucy smiled her sweet smile. Suddenly, She slapped a whipped creamed brownie on my face, smeering it everywhere. "You...You never change," I growled. I grabbed a brownie and wiped it all over her. She squealed, and soon, instead of eating the brownies, we were throwing them at each other, creating a sticky mess. But I didn't care. Everything was finally better. Lucy and I were now friends. I thought everything would finally go my way.

But little did I know that this was just the beginning of everything that would unfold.
