Song/ Artist: Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran
Genre: Fanfiction
Author's Note: I listen to the song Castle on the Hill when I'm doing a light hearted scene or one where a character is returning to something that reminds them of childhood. Sometimes even a sad scene, but not often. I play different songs to either reflect my mood or the mood my characters should be feeling. Music is what made me into the person who I am today. And the writer. So I hope you enjoy! (^-^)/
I'm Home
A girl with short, black hair that was cut neatly sat on a train. She looked into the mirror her piercing green eyes reflecting back at her, as well as her black jacket. The shoulder on her right side was cut out, showing the now silver guildmark. The lunar emblem on her face glowed brightly in anticipation. Silver stripes ran down the sides of her jacket. The same guild emblem on her back in the same hue of silver. She wore a black sleeveless turtleneck with black combat boots and black capris. The speaker told her she would be at her destination shortly. She smiled to herself happily.
"Two years huh? Has it really been that long?" She asks herself, she couldn't wait to get back home. To her house on the countryside with her husband. She played with the ring on her finger, twisting it back and forth. Well technically she was his fiancee, but that would all change when she came back. She looked forward to it. The train stopped and she was the first to get off, pushing past everyone else. Her eyes teared up as she saw her friends with a big banner celebrating her return. Her brother enveloped her in a hug.
"Welcome back twerp" he whispered, even though he changed during the two years she was gone he was still her brother. A brother who missed his little sister dearly.
"It's good to be back...Ironbrows"
"Gihi, you haven't changed a bit" Gajeel decided he would let it slide, just this once.
"I would hate to interrupt your sibling moment, but some of us haven't seen our best friend in awhile" a flame brain interrupts.
"Yeah! Celebratory noogie!" A dark haired ice mage says, noogieing the girl. Natsu joined in.
"Natsu! Gray! Stop it! The girl just got back!" The red headed swordstress scolds.
"Sorry Erza!" They saluted.
"Now, Silver Moon, Rogue should be back at your house. When you two are ready you can stop by the guild" Erza says gently.
"Yeah! We're going to throw you the best welcome back party ever!" Lisanna calls.
"You can count on that Silv!" Levy adds.
"Thank you, all of you."
"No problem Silver Moon, but you should probably see Rogue, poor man's been missing his fiancee after all" Mira suggests.
"Alright, I'll see you guys later!" She called running through the streets, she missed the Magnolia air and friendly townspeople. Old memories flooded her mind at the different landmarks, she stopped at a wooden bridge, a river underneath. She walked across, her hand running lightly across the railing. She slowed her walk, remembering all the memories she made here. When she walked up to the cottage she drew in a breath and opened the door. She saw no one as she took her jacket and hung it on the coat rack.
"Rogue?" She looked around, peering into the living room and the kitchen. In the kitchen a meal was in the middle of being prepared but abandoned. Worry began to fill her, arms surrounded her. She put her hands on the one around her stomach.
"Rogue, you almost gave me a heart attack" she sighs.
"Mhmm" Rogue was too absorbed in her scent to actually pay attention to his mate. It has been 2 years after all.
"Where's Frosch and Luna?"
"With Fairy Tail, they want to help prepare your welcome back party"
"Hmm, is that so? What's the meal for?"
"What? Can't a guy have a romantic homemade dinner with his beloved fiancee?" He asks, leaving small butterfly kisses on her neck.
"Alright, but we should head to the guild for the party, I don't want to keep my friends waiting. Then we can have some alone time. But first I gotta unpack" She says going up the stairs. He leaned up against the doorway, admiring his mate from behind. It might've been two years but she hasn't changed a bit.
"And stop looking at my ass! You can have a look at that later!" Rogue blushed. He sighed and went back to continue making dinner.
-Timeskip-
The dinner was silent but comfortable. Except for when Silver Moon would compliment Rogue's new cooking skills.
"Rogue this is amazing! Where'd you learn to cook this good?"
"I uh...I wanted to surprise you. When you got back-if you got back." Rogue says, he grasped her hand from across the table. "I know you could take care of yourself, but still...I was worried."
Silver Moon was about to object but Rogue's grip tightened."I know, I know, your a lunar mage. You can handle anything, but I love you and I couldn't bear to lose you." For the first time since she got back, Silver Moon saw the bags under Rogue's eyes. Usually when he was worried about her he would call, but he didn't. She moved from her seat to crouch in front of Rogue.
"Hey, look at me. I know I can't tell you not to worry, you'll just worry anyway. But I can tell you this, I love you Rogue, and not even a demon from the book of Zeref can stop me from coming home. Home to you. Home to Frosch. Home to Luna. Home to Ironbrows. And home to everyone from Fairy Tail and Sabertooth." Rogue looked at her, they stared at each other. Taking in details new and old. Rogue's hand brushed Silver Moon's jaw-line where a thin scar rested. It settled in the back of her neck. He brought his head down and met her lips with his. The kiss was sweet and gentle, but long awaited. When the two ran out of air they pulled back.
"Come now, let's head to the guild, they're probably still waiting for us"
"Yeah..."
-Timeskip-
"Rogue! Get up here now!" Silver Moon shouts, the party was in full swing and Rogue saw Silver Moon sitting on the railing.
"You better go Ryos."
"Don't call me that! I'll be right up there!" As soon as Rogue was up the stairs Silver Moon grabbed his hand and dragged him to the roof of the guild.
"I found out on my job that the tallest point of well...anywhere really...has the best sunsets" Silver Moon explains as the sun dipped slowly behind the horizon.
"I can think of one thing better than this" Rogue says matter-of-factly.
"What's that exactly?"
"You back in my arms"
"Y-your such a cheesy idiot" Silver Moon tells him, trying to keep her blush down.
"But I'm your cheesy idiot" Rogue nuzzled his face into her neck.
"Yes, that you are" she agrees. Combing her fingers through his hair. She leaned into her boyfriend, reflecting on the party. Natsu kept challenging her to fights, Juvia and Gray's couple antics, Gajeel's singing, Lucy's rent problems, Erza's love for strawberry cake. She realized she missed it, all of it even if it annoyed her before.
It's good to be home...
