Fate's Weaving: A Tapestry of Lives | A Tokyo Ghoul Novel by @S_Aimi
Name of the book: Fate's Weaving: A Tapestry of Lives | A Tokyo Ghoul Novel
Author: @S_Aimi
Genre: Fan-Fiction
Cover:
The cover is simple yet effective. The effect of blood against the more vibrant lavender brings the story to life. It's not exactly eye-catching but it is still straight to the point without overcomplicating it. I love how you've shown Rize Kamishiro and her different forms as a part of the cover and someone who doesn't know the plot would definitely think that this is a collage rather than foreshadowing. Well done on that part!
Blurb:
There's not much to the blurb except the disclaimer and information about the story. I would actually like to see a more descriptive blurb because that's the first place your readers are going to look for in order to know what to expect from your story, since not everyone who might read your work be familiar with the world of Tokyo Ghoul.
Grammar:
No issues with grammar or description! 10/10/
First Impression:
I was immediately drawn into the narrative by the poetic expression and the poignant themes of life, connection, soul and beyond. It really brings the narrative to light and you don't stop either, you continue to pull your readers by the same depth.
Characters:
We see the first chapter in the perspective of Ken Kaneki and the one shot in the perspective of the reader (aka second person POV). I do think you do more justice to Ken in the first chapter and more justice to Rize's world in the one shot chapter. I would choose Ken any day, despite what he goes through. 🥺 Gotta love a good Tokyo Ghoul fanfic 😌

Plot:
The plot is the same as Tokyo Ghoul but I like how your narrative adds depth and richness to it all the same. You're really doing Sui Ishida's writing justice!
Descriptions don't overpower the narrative, despite being long, they add that sense of richness and ask of the readers to tread slow and peel the layers of the story with tenderness and best enjoyed with Franz Liszt's Années de pèlerinage (Years of Pilgrimage) or really Shuzume no Tojimari if I think about the song that was running in my head while reading thistle.
Overall Impression:
"There's only so many stories. How you tell them is what brings it to life." is a saying I have heard one too many times but I suppose it would apply to your work as well. I was so impressed by your writing in the first chapter, it was breathtaking. You write second person perspective well enough than most authors but I personally preferred the first person perspective with all the depth and nuance that make it a slow and gradual reveal.
Rating:
10/10. Would definitely love to binge once you have more chapters to read!
