Tiny Details in Scarlet & Violet

I made this update forever ago and I'm just now uploading it😅
Today's update is going over small details, references & secrets found within the Scarlet Violet games. I am a SUCKER for videogame Lore and the Scarlet Violet games weren't short of Lore, in fact, this game features more Lore than most of the games combined. Therefore, unless you're actively reading the library books or attending class at the Academy, you're missing out on so many small details.

1. The Missing Photograph

Once you complete the Titan Pokemon/Arven's Storyline in Scarlet & Violet, Arven allows the Player to finally investigate his parents lab within the tower where the player & Arven first meet at the beginning of the game. Within this lab, you realize this is where Arven and presumably his parents used to live as well as this is his parents former lab. Within this room, there's many photographs detailing moments within Arven's life BUT there's one empty frame in particular that is accompanied by a line of dialogue detailing how its a photo frame with a missing photograph. Fast forward to when the player enters Area Zero and reaches the final lab where AI Sada and Turo can be found, one of the whiteboards in the lab has a photograph posted on it. This photograph is of 'a young boy and his Maschiff. They look really friendly with each other!' And of course, upon further examination, this photo is of a young Arven with his Maschiff. This means that Sada and Turo took a photo of their son from their previous lab to Area Zero with them! This is such a blink and you miss it moment that honestly breaks my heart.

2. Where the Player is From

We very rarely are told where the player character in most games are originally from considering in most games the player had recently moved from one region to another OR they're already within their origin region and are starting their adventure. In Scarlet & Violet, there's numerous details that tell us players where the player character is originally from without directly telling us. The player Character is originally from the Galar Region due to how their family owns a Skwovet, a Galar Region Pokemon and that their mother uses British slang such as 'cuppa'. The mother in particular using British slang is the most heavy piece of evidence as there's literally no other reason why she'd be using said slang otherwise.

3. Penny's Origin

During the aftermath of invading Ortega's Team Star Camp, Before Penny is revealed to be the leader of Team Star, Mr. Harrington aka the former director of the academy, explains that Team Star's leader was sent back home to the Galar region as punishment for forming Team Star. So yeah, Penny is an exchange student from the Galar Region. It's a forgettable detail, especially if you aren't paying attention or didnt connect any dots. It's interesting as rarely we get characters from outside of the region you're currently exploring and that it would explain why Penny just doesn't fit in, like at all, within the Paldea Region. She always came off as a Unova resident to me however, but Galar is a close second.

4. Nemona's Ball Throwing

At the beginning of the game, Nemona flat out admits to the player that she sucks at throwing Pokeballs. Being, she just very weakly tosses the Pokeball with no strength or flare to it. You might think that this isn't such a big deal, until you look at literally every big name in the game and they have much more technique, flare or aggressiveness behind their ball throws compared to Nemona. Specifically Larry & Grusha have very aggressive and memorable ball throws! You also have Sada and Turo, while their ball throws literally have no technique and that they just 'drop' their Pokeballs from 10 stories up, their ball throws are still more memorable than Nemona's wussy throws! It's a tiny detail and unless you're actively paying attention to other characters ball throwing animations, you have no clue just how diverse the ball throws across the games are.

5. Tyme & Ryme

Unless you're actively taking classes at the Academy, then you have no idea that Miss Tyme and DJ Ryme are Sisters. Furthermore, Miss Tyme is a retired Rock Type Gymleader who later handed her gym over to Ryme who is now the current Ghost Gym Leader. Honestly, I thought Ryme & Tyme were the same person BEFORE taking classes at the Academy. I thought Tyme was a teacher by day but her stage name is Ryme whenever her duties as Gym Leader calls. Yeah um, that's a HUGE difference!!! So yeah, you clearly would've never known Tyme & Ryme were related unless you took classes at school.

6. Mr. Salvatore's Pawmi

If you take classes at school and choose to spend time outside of class with Mr. Salvatore, you'll go through a mini storyline about the sickly Pawmi Salvatore found on school property. By the end of this storyline, Mr. Salvatore decides to keep the Pawmi for himself since nobody stepped forward to claim it as he grew partial to it. Well, this Pawmi was originally Mr. Clavel's. In the introduction to the Scarlet Violet games, Mr. Clavel, like every game before this, introduces himself before explaining what Pokemon are. He then throws out a Pawmi as introduction and this Pawmi is never seen again. Whenever a Professor tosses out a Pokemon in the introduction, this Pokemon is almost always seen on their team afterwards. Well, on Mr. Clavel's team, a Pawmi isn't anywhere to be seen. So it's safe to assume he did one of two things with Pawmi. He A: Gave it to Nemona, which can't be the case as Clavel made it a huge deal he's never given Nemona a starter Pokemon before letting her have her choice of Sprigatito, Fuecoco & Quaxley. Or B: he allowed Pawmi to live on school grounds alongside MANY others such as Charlos the Charcadet or the library Gengar. All evidence point towards Mr. Salvatore's Pawmi originally belonging to Mr. Clavel and you wouldn't ever notice it UNLESS you're me who picked up Scarlet immediately after completing the whole of Violet.

7. Hauntikins the Haunter

In Levincia, there's a female NPC who dreams of being able to explore the Paldean seas and requests a trade for a Pincurchin for her Haunter. If you go ahead with this trade, her Haunter who's name is Hauntikins will evolve immediately upon being traded into a Gengar as Haunter can only evolve upon trading. Afterwards this NPC will react strongly to how Haunter evolved. This is because in the Diamond, Pearl & Platinum games as well as their remakes Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, there is an NPC that will trade you a Haunter BUT she made sure to give it an everstone to prevent it from evolving and even goes as far as to laugh at you for being tricked. This is why the NPC in Scarlet & Violet reacts so strongly to her Haunter evolving!!!

8. Ghost Tera Crystal

The Ghost Tera Crystal 'Hat' that Pokemon wear upon terastalizing is appropriately a ghost. This isn't just any Ghost however. The ghost on the Ghost Tera Crystal is a callback and reference to the Pokemon Red & Blue games to the Ghost that Haunts Lavender Town. I recognized the ghost immediately BUT newer players wouldn't have a clue it's a reference to the series first ever games.

9. Sonia's Book

Within the library/Entrance hall of Uva/Naranja Academy, you can find a book called Galar: A History. Within the Sword & Shield games, Professor Sonia had published a book detailing Galar's history. Although we were never told what Sonia titled her book, us as fans immediately thought of Sonia upon reading the Galar History Book in Scarlet & Violet. This also means that Scarlet & Violet takes place after Sword & Shield.

10. Ryme & Her Beloved Houndstone

There's actually a reason why Ryme's entire gym challenge and town are overran with Greavard & Houndstones as well as why Ryme uses a Houndstone on her gym team. If you read a book located in the entrance hall of Uva Academy, you learn that when Ryme was little, her beloved dog Pokemon died. Due to her overbearing love for the Pokemon, it came back to life as what we now know as Greavard. Now Ryme is a Ghost Type Gym Leader who has an entire army of Greavard and Hounstones and that THE Houndstone on Ryme's team IS her deceased dog. F-ed up ain't it?

Did you notice any of these small details?
