The Worst Shiny Pokemon

Shiny Pokemon are a hot topic in the Pokemon Community, they're rare Pokemon that sport alternate colorations of another Pokemon. Sort of like how Voltorb is Red and White BUT it's shiny is Blue & White. Most of the time, people prefer the Shiny over the original cause sometimes the shiny just hits differently.

Today, I'm going over the WORST shinies out there. I'm going to try an avoid listing Shinies who's changes arent noticable unless you put the original and the shiny side by side such as Gengar & Garchomp, but rather focus on Shinies whose colorations just DONT look good or have a noticeable change but not good enough of one.

1. Clefairy & Clefable

Clefairy and Clefable are fan favorite shinies for the reason Clefable is a great Pokemon for Competetive battling, but I don't enjoy them. Their shinies barely change from the original as their black ear spikes are then replaced by green spikes on their ears. Like, its a nice minty shade of green, but does a tiny change make this shiny worth it? No!

2. Hisuian Avalugg

It's mouth becomes orange... And it doesn't look good either. Neon orange and baby blue aren't a good color combination. Need I say more?

3. Sneasle & Weavile

I don't like this color combination... I can't believe Pokemon Green-Lit this color pallet. Magenta and a nauseating orange-yellow. The part that bothers me the most is that their eyes are the exact same color as the yellow on its body so Weavile's eyes feels lost in translation. Bare minimum, change that eye color and the shiny would be alright.

4. Suicune

I've talked about this shiny before, and my opinion still stands strong. Shiny Suicune USED TO have a Black mane and it looked AWESOME!!! Why was Shiny Suicune changed to have a blue Mane instead? The current shiny isn't bad BUT I prefer the old shiny more and I feel it's one of Pokemon's biggest mistakes.

5. Wyrdeer

To match shiny Stantler, Pokemon decided to make Wyrdeer the same nauseating mucus green color as it's shiny. One look at this thing and I genuinely want to vomit. Why THAT shade of green!? Could've done dark green or neon green but you had to choose mucus green!?

6. Kyogre

It seems the fanbase is at an agreement on this one: Pink does not suit Kyogre. They could've made it black like an Orca, the mammal it's based on, but they chose pink. Why? For the God of the sea, making it pink makes it look more cute and fluffy than anything else.

7. Tinkatink, Tinkatuff & Tinkaton

These three aren't even shiny!!! The metal these guys wear are harvested from other Pokémon and the metal on them are the only thing that's shiny about them. That means the these 3 aren't shiny... Their shiny on their own doesn't even look nice, I don't like the Rusted brown coloration. Logistically it makes sense, but I feel a prop the Pokemon wears/holds changing color shouldn't constitute considering them a shiny.

8. Komala

Same thing as Tinkaton, it isn't shiny. The only thing that changes on Komala is the wood log it hugs. Therefore, Komala itself isn't shiny. They could've easily fixed this shiny by changing SOMETHING on it, but nope, they chose to make the log it carries shiny instead.

9. Magcargo

Another shiny Pokemon I've mentioned previously on this book, Magcargo straight up has a bad shiny. It's pink and not a good shade of pink either. If it was magenta or a deeper red, Magcargo could've been saved. Weird part is, Magcargo's original shiny was AWESOME! Magcargo's original shiny a blue, much reminiscent of blue flames and I genuinely don't understand why it's shiny was ever changed in the first place. Pink Magcargo SUCKS!!!

10. Sandile, Krocorock, & Krookodile

I know exactly why it doesn't sit well with me, and it's because their shiny replaced all the black in the original design and replaced it with a sickly sand color. It just doesn't look right! Gen 5 gave us a bunch of awesome shinies, but not this one.

11. Jigglypuff & Wigglytuff

The only thing that's shiny about these two are their eyes. Yes, only their eye colors change in their shiny. While yes, I prefer the Shiny versions of these two, I really wish there was more to them than just a different eye color.

12. Glailie

While I DO prefer it's shiny over the original, you cannot deny that it is a bit lackluster. The only difference between the original and the shiny is their eye color, just like with Jigglypuff. Shiny Glailie sports red eyes instead of blue. Again, I genuinely prefer the Shiny, but it's a bit of a disappointment how little the shiny changes from the original.

13. Chimchar, Monferno & Infernape

I think we're starting to see a pattern here, I don't like Pink shinies! The shinies for this starter Line has their brown fur being replaced with magenta fur. They could've turned their fur a darker brown, gray or black like a traditional monkey but nope! They chose pink...

14. Nacli, Naclstack & Garganacle

Nacli was my first shiny in Violet and I happened to come by it on accident when the shiny animation triggered. Even well after I caught it, it took me a while to figure out what exactly was different about it compared to the original and... It's underwhelming. The white on these three Pokemon are replaced with brown. These guys somehow look worst as a shiny. Unlike some of the previously mentioned pokemon whose shinies barely changed BUT look somewhat nice, Nacli is a straight up disappointment ESPECIALLY since it's wasted potential. They're salt Pokemon and brown salt is a thing, but brown salt isn't edible AND it's confirmed that people eat Nacli. Their shiny should've replaced the white salt coloration with pink, like Pink Himalayan salt!

15. Nidoqueen

Shiny Nidoqueen actually isn't bad BUT it's a missed opportunity. Shiny Nidoking swaps out its purple for blue to make it look like it's other half: Nidoqueen. Shiny Nidoqueen on the otherhand has it go from blue to green. Why!? Shiny Nidoqueen should instead be purple to look like Nidoking!!! Huge missed opportunity right there.

16. Lucario

Hot take, I don't like shiny Lucario!!! Shiny Riolu is just fine but I find shiny Lucario to be ugly!!! Whose bright idea was it to invert the color scheme!?!?!? I feel like Pokemon shouldve went the Super Smash Bros route and made Lucario's shiny one of its alternate fighter skins from the game in question such as making Lucario a brighter blue, turning him green or making him greyscale!!! Anything is better than blue and yellow!!!

17. Ceruledge & Armarouge

I'm sure you guys were waiting for this one. Everyone hates the shiny for Ceruledge & Armarouge as the only thing that changes on them are their eye color. It's a gigantic missed opportunity to swap out the color palettes between Ceruledge & Armarouge OR give them completely different shinies as a whole that doesn't include palette swapping. Ceruledge can wield red flames and it's armor becomes black, sort of like a black knight. While Armarouge could take on blue flames and keep its yellow armor. The one time I'd be alright with blue & yellow.

18. Jolteon

Really Pokemon, that's the best you can do? Shiny Jolteon goes from yellow to a really pale green and it just doesn't work. I think literally any other color would've suited Jolteon better. Heck, even pink would look better on it.

19. Lycanroc

If all three forms of Lycanroc normally all have differently colored fur, why don't their shinies? Yes, every form of Lycanroc becomes a dark blue when it's shiny. It just feels lazy... My suggestion for a fix would be to alternate their colors between all the forms. Midday Lycanroc can become Red, Dusk Lycanroc can become light brown while Midnight Lycanroc can become Orange. Shiny Midday and Dusk look the exact same now and it sucks.

20. Vaporeon

GOD DAMN IT ITS FREAKING PINK!!!! Please God no more pink shinies!!!! They rarely look good! I suggest making Vaporeon grey or black to look more like a porpoise as it was meant to be based on.

Which Shiny do you hate the most?
