The WORST Pokemon Games

My LEAST Favorite Pokemon Games

As much as I love Pokemon, I won't deny there's games I absolutely distaste or straight up don't care for. So, today I'll be talking about Pokemon games I don't particularly like, won't play ever again or the game had SERIOUS marketing issues. After each entry, I'll suggest games to play instead if you want a similar experience.

Just as a heads up! I don't hate all of the games I'm about to list. Some of the entrys include games of which recieved a remake and I prefer the remake over the original or as pointed out earlier, it had bad marketing.

1. Pokemon Channel-Gamecube

My parents got me this game when I was like four years old... In Pokemon Channel, you are a human who owns a Pikachu. However, your Pikachu is insanely lazy and would rather sit at home & watch TV instead of going outside to play with its friends. As it's owner, you DONT force Pikachu to quit being a lazy bum & encourage it to watch TV. Yeah, that's literally the entire game, you sit there with your Pikachu & watch TV all day. If you don't let Pikachu watch TV, it'll actively attack you AND THEN manually turn the TV back on. The only upside to this game is that an entire Pokemon anime special was made especially for this game and can be seen IF your Pikachu doesn't manually change the channel due to lost interest. However, save your money & just watch the anime special on YouTube or something. This game is such a waste of time... Unless you want to sit there and watch a Pikachu watch TV for hours then just don't play it. I literally have no game suggestions because Pokemon Channel is so unique but also such a flop that Pokemon never dared to make another game similar to this ever again.

2. Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire-Gameboy

Okay so I don't hate Ruby & Sapphire. I just CANT play them ever again due to how I've played Emerald, the superior of this trio of games. Emerald is the Platinum to Pearl & Diamond. Still don't understand? Emerald is basically if Ruby & Sapphire merged together & it's more ironed out/fixed the issues Ruby & Sapphire had. To put it simply, it's easier to play, there's no version exclusive Pokemon & the plot is miles better! How is the plot better? There's an entire plot line with Rayquaza. Also, if you play Ruby, you fight Team Magma. If you play Sapphire, you fight Team Aqua. In Emerald, you fight BOTH Team Aqua & Magma. Emerald is miles better than Ruby & Sapphire, end of Story. Not to forget how the current Pokemon timeline, marketting etc goes by the events of Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire instead of the original games ESPECIALLY with how much Archie & Maxie were retconned. If you MUST play Ruby & Sapphire/a Hoenn region game then opt to play Emerald instead OR play their remakes: Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire on the 3DS.

3. Pokemon Ultra Sun & Moon-3DS

Again, don't hate this game, not in the slightest. In fact I prefer Ultra Sun & Moon over the original Sun & Moon, I'm just MAD at how this game was marketed. Ultra Sun & Moon was marketed as a sequel to Sun & Moon when in reality it wasn't. It's literally the same as Sun & Moon but it's fixes the issues Sun & Moon had, the plot was slightly altered & post game content was added. I agree with the fanbase that I feel as though I was cheated out of my money on this game! The game was a let down because I was literally replaying Moon. If I had known this was an ironed out version of Sun & Moon I never would've bought it in the first place. The only thing you're missing out on by not playing Ultra Sun & Moon is the Pokemon Poipole & Necrozma as well as Rainbow Rocket.

4. Pokemon Rumble World 3DS

Pokemon Rumble is a game where Pokemon are wind up toys, for whatever reason... Theres a different plot per game. Pokemon Rumble World in particular has no plot. You just go around and collect new and more powerful Pokemon. I own the first two games of this series but Pokemon Rumble World that automatically came with most 3DS' was shameful... This game relies HEAVILY on in game purchases, streetpass of which NOBODY uses anymore and the cool down times were ridiculous. It's kind of like Candy Crush, you get five lives and then you have to wait an hour or two in order to do anything in the game again. That's why I suggest you play Rumble Blast instead. Lives aren't a thing, the plot consists of fighting Cobalion of whom turned to the side of darkness, & the game gives you a choice to increase difficulty if you feel the game is too easy. There's even shiny hunting if you deem necessary.

5. Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl-Nintendo Switch

This game took the world by storm QUICKLY taking the title as the most disappointing Pokemon remake in existence. This game was released before it was finished resulting in a very bugged & sloppy game. Nobody likes the new chibi art style Pokemon experimented with because it's just awkward & doesn't look nice. The game is sadly too easy as well. Pokemon banked on the fanbase's childhood Nostalgia and it shows... Heavily. It's a copy and paste of the original game. You might be thinking 'its a remake, aint that the point?' And yes, while that is true, the entire fanbase, myself included, thought that we'd get a remake similar to Let's Go Pikachu & Omega Ruby Alpha Sapphire. Where yes, they were remakes of their original game BUT they gave us something new & unique at the same time. I highly suggest that you go and play the original Sinnoh trio of games: Diamond, Pearl & Platinum for the DS if you want to experience Sinnoh/Gen 4 as they're MUCH better as in, they aren't buggy & the art style is better. However, they may be too pricey nowadays so you'll want to buy BDSP instead especially if you've never experienced the Original Diamond, Pearl & Platinum. So yeah, unless you've never experienced the OG games, I suggest you steer clear of BDSP.

6. Pokemon Battle Revolution-Wii

Oh my god... I played this game to death when I was ten years old. Pokemon Battle Revolution is a game centered entirely around battling in tournaments HOWEVER you don't get to catch pokemon, build a team or anything. You're given a preset team of six Pokemon AND THATS IT!!! The game isnt so bad if you connect your copy of Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heartgold or Soulsilver to this game & import the Pokemon you've captured within them but still, this game falls flat. It's very slow, the announcer is admittedly very annoying, most of the CPUs aren't difficult, customization is ridiculously hard to do since none of the clothing is affordable and lastly, some tournaments are so unforgiving it'll make you cry. One tournament in particular is set up so you & your opponent put all of your Pokemon together then randomly pick out four Pokemon each. Yeah, you could end up with all of your opponent's Pokemon and they could end up with all of yours. In which the CPUs don't have good Pokemon at all either, so this tournament was rage inducing! I could be battling with a Kakuna & Snover while they have Dialga & Palkia!!! Surprisingly Pokemon hasn't made anymore purely battle centered games since so I cannot suggest any games to play instead BUT a good in game place to experience is the Battle Frontier found in multiple games!

7. Pokemon Shuffle-3DS & Mobile App

It's literally Candy Crush... Just go play Candy Crush. At least Candy Crush doesn't try to nickle & dime you every ten seconds.

Which Pokemon Game is your least favorite?
