Smash Bros Pokemon Worst To Best
Smash Bros Pokemon Worst to Best
As I hope most of you may know, Super Smash Bros, or better known as Smash nowadays, is a love letter to all videogames as this game pulls Videogame characters across all platforms, companies and decades and pits them all together in a collective roster of over 50+ playable characters. Pokemom is heavily integrated into the Smash series as over the decades 9 Pokemon characters have become playable fighters in this beloved fighting series.
Today, I'll be going over all of the available Pokemon fighters in the Smash series and rank them worst to best. Of course, this is all my opinion! Not everyone uses the same characters in Smash. While one person might use Kirby all the time, I might find Kirby to be unplayable.
9. Pichu
I literally cannot use Pichu in Smash. Pichu as a fighter in Smash follows Pokemon's Canon lore. Pichu, in Smash, HURTS ITSELF IN COMBAT!!! In Pokemon Canon, Pichu hurts itself with its own electricity and much like I just said, it carries over to Smash as well. I absolutely hate using Fighters that can cause damage to their own self in Smash. Therefore, do yourself a favor and bench Pichu. Go for Pikachu as a fighter instead. Pikachu is yes, slower, but at least he doesn't hurt himself. The only reason I'd choose Pichu is because Pichu has an adorable relationship with Sephiroth.
8. Jigglypuff
It's a Kirby clone. Or rather, Jigglypuff as a fighter is a mix between Kirby & Sonic the Hedgehog with Jigglypuff able to jump numerous times due to it being a balloon as well as it's Sonic copycat attack of being able to spin dash. It's cute and while Jigglypuff can jump the most times out of EVERY Smash fighter, it's just too slow and it's attacks are too light. You're better off just picking Kirby. At least Kirby can pack a bigger punch.
7. Pikachu
I personally don't use Pikachu BUT I always see Pikachu in professional Smash tournaments. Pikachu IS a tricky fighter so you got to know how to use it. Otherwise, Pikachu has a very effective moveset and it isn't slow to top it off. It's due to Pikachu being a 'technical' fighter that has me putting him so low on the list. I do however adore Pikachu in the storymode of Smash Brawl. Pikachu had the cutest relationship with Samus!
6. Charizard
Charizard was a singular fighter in ONE Smash game, that being Smash for the 3DS & Wii U. Before then, and currently to be exact, Charizard was one of three fighters connected to the Pokemon Trainer fighter. Charizard on its own IS capable BUT not for me. Charizard is very slow and it's weight often gets in the way. Charizard may be able to jump multiple times BUT it's weight doesn't allow it to jump high at all. Move wise, very strong moveset on top of knowing Flare Blitz which is another reason I don't like Charizard as a fighter. Flare Blitz causes massive damage to the player. However, if you don't use Flare Blitz Charizard is a heavy hitter. I'm glad however that Charizard is no longer a single fighter and back with its trainer. If you want another fighter that's the same as Charizard but with minor differences, just choose Bowser. At least Bowser doesn't have an attack that damages himself.
5. Mewtwo
Honestly forgot that Mewtwo was even a fighter in Smash. Mainly due to the fact that NOBODY uses Mewtwo because there's better fighters. Mewtwo is a copy and paste of Ness & Zelda. That being, they're all ESP/Magic users. Mewtwo has nothing good going for it, it's surprisingly slow too. Ness and Zelda are also slow BUT they're more loved as characters hence why they're almost always chosen over Mewtwo. Therefore, Mewtwo isn't a BAD fighter, just overshadowed by other characters.
4. Pokemon Trainer
I'm middle of the road with Pokemon Trainer. I don't have any issues with Pokemon Trainer and love how you can choose between Charizard, Squirtle & Ivysaur. Each Pokemon offers something different and has a different fighting style. Squirtle is the speedster with light attacks, Ivysaur is middle of the road, while Charizard is the slow but heavy hitter. I especially loved how in Smash Brawl, the story mode had a subplot with Pokemon Trainer and Lucas teaming up and going about in search of Ivysaur & Charizard of whom got separated from their Trainer.
3. Greninja
Did Greninja need to be in Smash? I still roll my eyes a little bit. However, Greninja is the fastest character in the entire Smash roster. Yes, even faster than Sonic! I personally like Speedster characters more in Smash. So that clearly means Greninja is a fast character that hits lightly, and that's how I roll lol. I have nothing bad to say about Greninja as a fighter. However, there's reasons why I choose two other speedsters over Greninja. Those being Joker & Zero Suit Samus. They are fast AND can pack a punch unlike Greninja who is only fast. Joker too has a special Rebellion Meter gimmick that makes him stronger as the fight goes without drawbacks. Greninja has none of that which makes him a middle of the road fighter in my eyes.
2. Lucario
When Smash Brawl came out in the late 2000s I swear I only used Lucario & Meta Knight. Lucario IS the perfect Pokemon to represent its series in Smash. Lucario is definitely middle of the road. He isn't a speedster, a bruiser or a flyer. He's straight up a capable well rounded fighter. It's not a fighter that takes practice to get used to, he's easy to use to put it simply. Lucario has an 'Aura' gimmick. This gimmick allows the player to build up Lucario's Aura in order to use the move Aura Sphere which is a ranged attack OR you can build Aura and it makes the player stronger in fight by dealing more damaging punches. I like Lucario's gimmick, he's a great rounded fighter & I liked the role he played in the story mode of Smash Brawl.
1. Incineroar
I main three fighters in Smash Ultimate and Incineroar is one of them. Incineroar is admittedly hard to use at first but once you know how his moveset works the payoff is worth it. Although his speed is middle of the road, he can pack his punches!!! Smash doubled down on Incineroar's wrestler design and it paid off. I mean, Incineroar was unvieled as a character right next to Ryu & Ken, two iconic videogame characters!!! The main reason I love Incineroar is how it has a move that practically gives you easy wins. That being, it has a move where you grab a fighter, and can throw them into oblivion!!! Thus, the easy wins as you win by knocking your opponent out of the screen. I went about the story mode only using Incineroar due to how OP he is as a fighter. Cause it's not often that you have a bruiser that ISNT slow.
Who's your favorite Smash Pokemon fighter?
Which characters do you main as?
For me, I main Incineroar, Joker & Sora.
