Scarlet Violet Pokemon I DONT Like
I HATE it whenever the fanbase rips on Pokemon. As many like to label the fanbase, they're the most picky fanbase and must rip on everything they possibly can be it the tiniest issues like graphics or how dumb a Pokemon looks. I personally will almost always look past the issues and enjoy my experience. Sadly though, this generation there was quite a few Pokemon that disappointed me which is RARE.
Therefore, in today's list I'm going over some of the Pokemon that disappointed me as well as some that disappointed the fanbase as a whole.
1. Flamigo
It's a flamingo. Just a flamingo. I've yet to find anyone who likes Flamigo. Yeah, I won't deny, it's one of the most un-creative Pokemon that's been put out there but it's not necessarily a bad Pokemon either. It just 'sucks' compared to all the other Pokémon out there. I like it's name though!
2. The Nacli Line
Alot of people are showing love for the Nacli line but for me in particular, it's not doing anything special. They look like they came straight out of Minecraft and it's just pulling me out of the Pokemon experience when I encounter them in the game. I'm sure that the Nacli line are great in battle, but their designs are driving me a little nuts.
3. Shroodle
Not only does this thing look awkward but you literally won't believe this mouse/Shrew eventually becomes a monkey. Shroodle and Grafaiai dont even look like theyre in the same family. It's just so awkward to look at...
4. Bellibolt
As a whole, I enjoy Bellibolt but what I don't like about it is that Pokemon HEAVILY had to drill it into our heads through promotional material and trailers that the bulbs on the side of its head ARENT eyeballs. Bellibolts true face is just cringey and I like to act as if it's 'true' face isn't real and often go back to thinking the bulbs are it's eyes.
5. Flittle
What is this thing supposed to be and why does it eventually become an ostrich/emu? Despite knowing Flittle AND Espathra are in the game, I thought they were two entirely separate Pokemon and NOT evolutions of each other. Is it supposed to be a chick? I don't get it...
6. Bombirdier
I'm totally on board with a crane Pokemon but this isn't it. The flap on its stomach doubling as it's pouch/what cranes use to carry babies in stories & tales is just weird. Bombirdier would've been better off without this detail OR if the pouch wasn't physically connected to it's body. If the pouch/sack was more like Delibird where the pouch was part of the design but ISNT permanently stuck to its body, I think Bombirdier would've been saved.
7. Crocalor
Have yet to find anyone who actively likes this thing. The amount of Tiktoks that I've seen where everyone is excited to see Fuecoco evolve and upon Fuecoco becoming Crocalor, they immediately wretch at how ugly this thing is. I am alright with the Sombrero, but why buck teeth? It's snout is just awkward looking too.
8. Dudunsparce
We wanted an evolution to Dunsparce, this is not what we meant... Now we'll never see Dunsparce look like the dragon it's inspiration is based on.
9. Bramblin & Bramblegast
I am totally on board with tumbleweed Pokemon, but I wish Pokemon did something more with them. Bramblegast is just a larger version of Bramblin which is where I lost interest in these guys. They couldn't turn Bramblegast into a tumbleweed/cactus or Tumbleweed/scarecrow hybrid? They're ghost type! Embrace the ghost typing and do something creative. I would've loved to see Bramblegast become a cowboy or scarecrow ghost.
10. Gholdengo
If Gimmieghoul is a Pokemon inspired by mimics, even going as far as to be a Pokemon that haunts treasure chests, I WISH it's evolution remained a mimic instead of a... Golden string cheese... Its a pure ghost type, why does it not look like one? Did Pokemon not want to do another possessed object Pokemon? Cause in reality, I wouldve rather had another possessed object Pokemon. Technically this IS a possessed object-mon too! It took reading it's dex entry to learn it's body is made up of stacked coins BUT it don't look like it. I know most of the fanbase happened to be particularly let down by Gholdengo especially if it's ridiculously hard to obtain one in the first place. It's like you put in all this hard work to just be let down. Thankfully, I already have a Gholdengo and it took a lot less effort than I initially thought it would.
Was there any Pokemon that was disappointing to you? Any you don't like.
