I admittedly rarely nickname my Pokemon. When I was little, even then I rarely nicknamed my Pokemon but when I did they stood out!

Here's a few of the Pokemon I've nicknamed over the years and why! Or, at least the ones I can remember that is.

1. Moseby the Treecko

For some reason when I was playing Pokemon Emerald as a little kid, I decided to name my Treecko Moseby, after Mr. Moseby from the show The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. I genuinely don't know why I named Treecko this, but it did.

2. Mokey the Rapidash

When playing Pokemon Diamond when I was younger, I decided to name my Rapidash Mokey. I don't know why!!! I remember going to my mom asking her to name my Rapidash Mokey because I didn't know how to spell it. She too gave me weird looks and even questioned herself how to spell that. In the end, we settled on this spelling. I'd always play Diamond with a guy who went to the same Daycare I went to and he too heavily questioned why Rapidash was named Mokey. I eventually traded him Mokey and I'm pretty sure Mokey doesn't exist anymore, but I vividly remember this flaming horse.

3. Toph the Shiny Flygon

By freaking chance, I found a Shiny Shelgon while playing Ultra Sun & Moon. I later evolved it into Flygon where I decided to name this achievement Toph. Yes, Toph after Toph the blind Earthbender from Avatar the Last Airbender. This Flygon is completely deserving of such a strong name to such a beloved character.

4. Joker the Meowscarada

When playing Pokemon Scarlet, I was surprise traded a Sprigatito. Because it's evolution Meowscarada is a magician and he reminds me HEAVILY of Joker from Persona 5, I decided to name him Joker. It's one of my more appropriate names in a long time.

5. Akechi the Shiny Corviknight

I FINALLY have a Shiny Corviknight!!! This bastard took YEARS of on again off again shiny hunting in order to find. When I finally hatched my Shiny Rookidee, I decided to name him Akechi, after Goro Akechi aka Crow from Persona 5. Shiny Corviknight and Regular Corviknight remind me of the white and black uniform Akechi we get in the Persona 5 series so I felt naming my Corviknight after one of my all time favorite fictional characters felt fitting.

6. All Might the Palafin

I feel like the most fitting nickname I've ever given a Pokemon HAS to be my Palafin I've captured during my Pokemon Violet playthrough. I've named my Palafin All Might, of course after All Might the #1 Hero from the anime My Hero Academia. Palafin's gimmick is that It starts out in a weakened form but can later transform into a musclebound superhero in battle using its ability Zero to Hero. All Might aka Toshinori Yagi is almost always seen in a weakened state but when hero duty calls, he takes on a powered up superhero form! One of my favorite Nicknames to date!!!
