My Favorite Scarlet Violet Pokemon

Although I have yet to play Scarlet and I plan to play Violet casually and fullfillingly before moving onto Scarlet, I DO however know every version exclusive Pokemon and picked out a few from both games. After playering Violet, I wasn't too thrilled with our newest Pokemon and this would be the first generation my team wasn't at least half new Pokemon. I won't deny though that despite not using most of the new Pokemon, I'm absolutely in love with the Lore and designs to some of them.

Here's 10 (Technically 14) of my favorite Pokemon from Scarlet & Violet.

1. Sprigatito, Floragato & Meowscarada

Although the fanbase was furious with how Sprigatito stood up, and that they literally cannot enjoy the Pokemon series for what it is and rip on whatever they possibly can, I personally thought the Sprigatito line stole the show this generation. Sprigatito is cute in every aspect. Floragato is one of the best Middle stage Pokemon in existence next to Braixen & Grovyle. Meowscarada is over powered in every aspect. It is one of the fastest Pokemon in existence, can learn a move of EVERY type, has insanely high Attack & Special Attack stats AND has a move called Flower Trick that guarantees a critical hit every time. Many weren't thrilled with Meowscarada in particular when it comes to design saying it's too human or looks horrible and I say to heck with them. It's a magician cat that HEAVILY reminded me of Joker from Persona 5. I love Meowscarada's personality and stylish flare leaving me with one of my favorite Starter Pokemon in existence.

2. Fidough

Everyone fell in love with Fidough when it was revealed and I'm one of them. I never knew I needed a cute bread dough puppy Pokemon. Fidough and Dachsbun aren't Pokemon to write home about when it comes to battle prowess, but they're most definitely one of those 'feel good' Pokemon.

3. Ceruledge

Many gave Ceruledge insane backlash for 'not looking like a Pokemon' I'm sorry, It looks more Pokemon than some Pokemon we've already gotten. I think a Black Knight Pokemon is insanely awesome and the design is just so great. I think Ceruledge's In Game models look better than official art!!! I also like how Ceruledge and Armarouge are on two separate ends of the spectrum as they both are Pokemon who love to battle. The difference between them is that Armarouge takes pride in battle and firmly believes in fair fight. Ceruledge on the otherhand will do whatever it takes to win a fight resulting in a more aggressive fighting style. Like the good and the bad! Ceruledge is just an awesome Pokemon and he most definitely took the spotlight on my Team during my Violet playthrough.

4. Tatsugiri

When I first heard we now have a sushi Pokemon, I rolled my eyes. That was until I saw it and my heart melted! Tatsugiri has no right being so cute and oddly enough it looks like it belongs in the Pokemon universe. Which sounds weird, but you can't deny some of Pokemon designs over the last few years have been outlandish to say the least. I like how there's 6 different forms of Tatsugiri too so you can collect them all. It was such a treat when you realize Tatsugiri was the true Titan when you fought the False Dragon Titan and that Dondozo was just Tatsugiri's puppet. When you actually catch a Dondozo and read its Pokedex entry, turns out that Dondozo and Tatsugiri have a symbiotic relationship as Dondozo aren't smart but have brawn while Tatsugiri are smart but too small to pack a punch. I'm straight up loving their sibling esque relationship.

5. Flutter Mane

Fluttermane isn't a regional form of Misdreavus but rather what Misdreavus used to look like in the distant past prior to evolution and adaption. Misdreavus' long flowing locks now make more sense as they used to be wings! Ain't much of a reason to like this Pokemon but Misdreavus is one of my all time favorite Pokemon so it was a treat knowing Pokemon gave Misdreavus some love this generation.

6. Roaring Moon

Roaring Moon isn't a regional form of Salamence believe it or not. It's actually what Salamence used to look like in the past before natural selection and evolution of course. I WISH Roaring Moon was what we got instead of Salamence in the first place. Salamence, although it still looks dragonoid, used to have many features of a bird such as feathers. Now it's Flying typing makes more sense as I never understood why Salamence wasn't a Dragon-Steel or Dragon-Rock type considering the environment Salamence is normally found within as well as it's movepool.

7. Farigiraf

We've all been wanting an evolution to Girafarig for a long long time. Heck, it's gone 20 years or more without one and Pokemon delivered. It may look uncanny, but I'm absolutely in love with this thing. It's so cute and it looks like Farigiraf is wearing a giraffe hoodie! If I didn't already have a Gallade on my team, I would've opted for Farigiraf.

8. Paldean Tauros

Considering we were getting a Spanish based Pokemon region, it was expected something was to come from Tauros the bull Pokemon. Much to everyone's surprise, we got THREE new forms of Tauros. Almost all of them look the same but with minor differences between them all such as fur markings or the shape of their horns. I never knew I needed a regional form of Tauros, it looks so well in the black coloration, and it was a great way to bring light to an otherwise old and underappreciated Pokemon.

9. Tinkaton

Many people say this is one of the best designs Pokemon has put out in a long time, and I have to agree on this one. Tinkaton feels like one of the most original Pokemon in a while and one of the most unique in the series. I thought Pokemon designed Toxtricity especially well and Tinkaton ranks up there. I can't even put my finger on it either, Tinkaton is just a nice Pokemon to look at. I also love its Dex entrys where you learn that Tinkaton is probably the most trigger happy Pokemon to exist and that they actively hunt down Corviknight hence... What their Hammer is made out of. Now, Tinkaton is a greatly designed Pokemon but it isn't the best in battle. It has one of the highest attack moves in existence BUT it's ruined by Tinkaton's HORRIBLE attack stat. Use at your own risk.

10. Palafin

Many don't realize that Palafin IS different from Finizen. Yes, Palafin is Finizen with a heart on its chest BUT unless you actively use Palafin in battle you don't realize just how much of a monster it is. Palafin, much like Wishiwashi, takes on an alternate form in battle called Hero Mode. Palafin will transform into a hulking superhero-esque creature where it dominates in battle. I sort of wish that Palafin was permanently in Hero Mode, that way it feels like a genuine evolution rather than Finizen obtaining superpowers like All Might. In fact, I named my Palafin All Might😅
For Pokemon's first dolphin Pokemon, they delivered!

Honorable Mentions:

Mabosstiff

It's a well designed dog Pokemon. But I dont think we like Mabosstiff for its design or battle capabilities. The only reason we like Mabosstiff is because of Arven.

Quaxly

Despite how I wasn't remotely interested in Quaxly when the games were announced, this dancing duck has grown something fierce on me. I'm just partial to it now and not entirely sure why.

Cetoddle

It's an adorable whale baby!!! That's about it though. I HATE its cry/noise!!!

Scovillain

If Scovillain wasn't so small, and such a late game Pokemon at that, I would've died to have one on my team. Another downside was that in both Scarlet & Violet I had Armarouge and Ceruledge, so therefore I didn't need another fire type on the team. Nevertheless Scovillain is such a cool Pokemon being our first ever Fire Grass type and based on a Chilli pepper too of all things. It's name too, although a bit of a pun, it works so well as a Scovil is a unit of heat used to measure how hot peppers are. Honestly, upon first glance, I thought it was a Dragon Type and much to my surprise it ain't, but should! A Chilli pepper dragon is such an awesome Idea and Scovillain fits the bill.

Who's your favorite new Pokemon.
