Main Series Games Worst To Best Part 2

Alright I'm back with Part 2 of the main series Pokemon games worst to best.

Today: The Top Seven!!!

7. Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire

Very faithful remakes of the Gamboy titles Ruby & Sapphire. Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire released within the same generation as X & Y as the Pokemon anime & games goes by the Canon of these remakes instead of their original games. Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire fixed most of the plot related issues that were present in the original Sapphire & Ruby by making them follow the events of Pokemon Emerald instead of which we couldn't be anymore thankful for. The remakes rewrote the plot as so Mega Evolution originated in Hoenn and that Rayquaza is at the forefront NOT Kyogre or Groundon. Otherwise, the plot was barely changed and many characters recieved fresh updated designs that we adore. Our Champion, Steven, is more involved in the story and now utilizes Mega Evolution too. The games lastly incorporated a fly mechanic where you can ride and take control of Latios or Latias and fly between towns, a function I absolutely adored. Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire were VERY faithful remakes that managed to blow the originals out of the water.

6. Pokemon Emerald

So I think it's no surprise that Emerald was ranked so high when I've mentioned it quite a few times in previous rankings. Emerald released shortly after Ruby & Sapphire on the Gameboy as an 'ironed out' version of the two titles by collectively merging Sapphire & Ruby together into one game and us as fans adore it! There werent version exclusive pokemon as all Pokémon were available in one game, something us fans are thrilled to hear as it makes completing the Pokedex much easier. You take down both Team Aqua & Team Magma not just one of them and that Rayquaza is at the forefront!!! Therefore, you're getting a much longer and involved gaming experience. Although us fans were outraged that Steven was replaced as Champion in this game, we easily turned a blind eye to it as well considering this masterpiece of a game we were given.

5. Pokemon Ultra Sun & Moon

I've ranted before about how much Ultra Sun & Moon pissed me off in the past due to how badly it was marketed. As in, it was marketed as a sequel to Sun & Moon NOT as an ironed out/enhanced version of the two and thus it pissed off a great deal of the fanbase, myself included, but I won't deny I love Ultra Sun & Moon miles above Sun & Moon. Ultra Sun & Moon gave us a more grand selection of Pokemon to use in the Pokedex, introduced new Ultra Beasts including Poipole of which is a fan favorite and much needed plot alterations & post game content. Ultra Sun & Moon put the Lusamine/Solgaleo & Lunala plot given to us from Sun & Moon & put it to the side to instead put Necrozma at the forefront as the third legendary that accompanies Solgaleo & Lunala. A time traveling gimmick was incorporated alongside this plot line that none of us complains about. The Pokemon League was enhanced as instead of facing your rival upon completion of the League you face Professor Kukui a more welcomed change in pace and opponent instead of your rival of whom you've fought the entire game. The post game content just endlessly gives and gives too as there's a side quest where you can join Looker & Capture Ultra Beasts, a Side Quest where Gladion gives you Type Null & tasks you with evolving it into Silvally, you also can attempt the Battle Tree, capture the Island deities, explore wormholes and lastly Rainbow Rocket. A subplot where all previous game antagonists join together with the goal of taking over the world in mind. Thing is, I'm sure there's even more than that. Long story short, this is a game that just keeps on giving and it has a superior storyline compared to the original Sun & Moon.

4. Pokemon Sword & Shield

Surprisingly a lot of people dislike Sword & Shield due to the sheer amount of handholding the game forces you into but I don't seem to mind it. I fell in love with so much of Sword and Shield, the characters for certain!!! It's been a while since Pokemon made characters play such a pivotal role in the games as every character introduced doesn't fade into the wood work and remains involved even long after their role had been played. This game reinvented the Pokemon Gyms and made them to be more of a sport as each gym match is broadcasted on TV and takes place in stadiums with hundreds of fans cheering and reacting to the match. I think this gym set up is the absolute BEST and hope that Pokemon keeps this format going forward. The locations of Sword & Shield were top tier and memorable from castles to mines to glowing mushroom forests. This is also the first main series game to recieve DLC and honestly I view them as welcomed additions to Sword & Shield. Many argue that the DLC should've been part of the main game and that you shouldn't need to buy it. I'm on the fence honestly though😅 I both agree and disagree with buying the extra content. Both Sword & Shield had arguably big version differences too which is a first in a while for the company. In the end, I absolutely adore Sword & Shield and its a rare instance that I bought both games instead of picking one over the other due to how different and great both games are. It's also a game that I've replayed quite a lot as well.

3. Pokemon Heartgold & Soulsilver

Another pair of games with LARGE version exclusive differences. Heartgold & Soulsilver are remakes of Pokemon Gold, Silver & Crystal released on the Gameboy back in the 90s. These two games are rightfully big fan favorites. Many reguard Heartgold & Soulsilver to be one of the best Pokemon games to date. It's fun, clean and does so much right. From giving us the Pokeathalon to Bug catching contests to giving the player a main story quest to go capture a shiny Pokemon, that being Red Gyarados. Lets not forget how in Heartgold & Soulsilver you can explore TWO regions!!! One of the most highly requested game functions ever since the release of this game was to bring back traveling companions. Yes, Heartgold & Soulsilver allowed your Pokemon to travel outside of its Pokeball and interact with the player. It's a fun, adorable and beloved game function we as fans can't get over and is one of many reasons I love Heartgold & Soulsilver. It's a near perfect game!!!

2. Pokemon Platinum

Pokemon Platinum is the 3rd game release that accompanied Pokemon Diamond & Pearl. Platinum is known as the 'ironed out' version of Diamond & Pearl as the game fixes many of the issues the pair of games had such as adding a back button to the Poketch, increasing the speed of which battles would progress (of which the speed made it so it took FOREVER for anything to happen in battle), increased the surfing speed, Saving was much faster as well and making Rotom much easier to obtain than it was originally. Platinum merges Diamond & Pearl together into one game on top of making large plot alterations to put Giratina at the forefront. There no version exclusive Pokemon, you can explore the Reverse Dimension AND you can capture Palkia & Dialga all in the same game. Many of the Gyms got updated designs/challenges that I also prefer over the original games. The obtainable egg changed from a Happiny to Togepi too. Looker, a recurring character throughout the series, originated from Platinum. In the end, Platinum did many things right and is such a pleasure to play. Especially since Giratina, the Pokemon Equivalent to the Devil, is the main focus of the game and adds a good dark grit to the series I never knew I needed.

1. Pokemon Black & White

Yes, Black & White are my favorites of the main series Pokemon Games. Black and White are the second main series release on the Nintendo DS that had MANY milestones for the Pokemon series. It was the first game to feature moving battle graphics/sprites instead of sprites remaining still in battle, the overworld incorporated 3D models and the company decided to put a major focus on a deep storyline. This game also gave us Rotation & Triple battles, game functions we haven't seen in a Blue moon that we as fans adore. The biggest reason I absolutely adore Black & White was the amount of symbolism and our main antagonist: N. Yes, his name is N. N was such a deep and complex character who throughout the story struggled to differenciate right from wrong that everyone came to love and he's one of my all time favorite fictional characters. The character designs and gym designs were top tier too. The only game to feature changing seasons. The gameplay wasn't problematic in the slightest, in fact, I found the gameplay to be the most clean out of all the main series games to date. Out of all the main series Pokemon games, I've played Black & White an ungodly amount of times, more times than I can count that's for sure. Black & White is also the only Main Series game to ever recieve a sequel due to the sheer amount of love the fanbase gave the games!!! I find these games to quite possibly be the most unproblematic games in the series.

There you guys go, that's my ranking of the main series games. Or, at least until Scarlet & Violet release in November. Did you agree with my rankings? What's your favorite game?
