Interesting Pokedex Entrys!
Today I'm here to talk about 10 interesting Pokdex entries. Them being either cool, interesting or even unsettling. I know I like some of these Pokemon more after reading up on their Pokedex Entry.
1. Galarian Meowth
Sword Pokedex Entry:
Living like a savage, seafaring people has toughened this Pokémon's body so much that parts of it have turned to iron.
The fact that it's evolution, Perrserker, is called the Viking Pokémon, should tell you everything you need to know. The fact that Meowth became a 'savage' due to living on ships & having to harden up to get used to sea life is an interesting way a regional form came to be. It even suggests that since Vikings aren't around anymore that Galarian Meowth is most likely the first form of Meowth to ever exist.
2. Yamask
Black Pokedex Entry:
Each of them carries a mask that used to be its face when it was human. Sometimes they look at it and cry.
White Pokedex Entry:
These Pokémon arose from the spirits of people interred in graves in past ages. Each retains memories of its former life.
In Yamask's Pokedex Entry it straight out confirms it USED to be a human & that's Hella freaky. It leaves me to wonder if most if not all ghost type Pokemon used to be a living organism at some point in time. It's also sad that Yamask vividly remembers its life back when it was human, even further as to carry a mask of what it looked like when it was alive. Not to forget CRIES whenever it looks at its mask! That just tells me Yamask misses being alive!
3. Hisuian Zorua
Legends Arceus Pokedex Entry:
The Spiteful Fox Pokemon
Zorua migrated to the Hisui region after being driven from other lands by humans, who shunned the Pokémon for manifesting uncanny illusions. But the Zorua perished, unable to survive the harsh Hisuian environment and strife with other Pokémon. Their lingering souls were reborn in this Ghost-type form through the power of their malice toward humans and Pokémon.
Okay, this isn't the Pokedex Entry BUT it came from the official Pokémon Website and it's Pokedex Entry is what's written above but shortened/dumbed down. The new Pokemon series called Hisuian Snow also explores the origins of Hisuian Zorua & Zoroark. The show & entry confirms that Hisuian Zorua came to be because humans had wrongfully killed Zorua. The murdered Zorua then resurrected due to the bitter Malice they share with humans creating a New ghost type form for the Zorua line. The fact that Hisuian Zorua exists is just cruel & it's one of few Pokemon that we know of that was actively killed by humans.
4. Kadabra
Sun Pokedex Entry
A theory exists that his Pokémon was a young boy who couldn't control his psychic powers and ended up transformed into this Pokémon.
Almost all of Kadabra's Pokedex entrys over the years speaks of how Kadabra used to be a human. Even the Pokemon Company confirmed that the Abra line were formerly humans with strong telekinetic powers. It leaves me to fear that literally any psychic in the Pokemon universe could eventually end up becoming a Kadabra if they were to get too strong. It's also scary that a Kadabra used to be a human too.
5. Mimikyu
Sun Pokedex Entry:
Its actual appearance is unknown. A scholar who saw what was under its rag was overwhelmed by terror and died from the shock
Moon Pokedex Entry:
A lonely Pokémon, it conceals its terrifying appearance beneath an old rag so it can get closer to people and other Pokémon.
Ultra Sun Pokedex Entry:
Although it's a quiet, lonely Pokémon, if you try to look at what's under its rag, it will become agitated and resist violently.
Ultra Moon Pokedex Entry:
A gust of wind revealed what hides under this Pokémon's rag to a passing Trainer, who went home and died painfully that very night.
I went ahead and put nearly all of Mimikyu's entrys into this post due to how each entry tells you more & more about Mimikyu. To put it simply, Mimikyu is a terrifying Pokemon, so terrifying that it wears a Pikachu costume that IT made itself as to be able to befriend humans to any capacity. In return, it's TRUE appearance is so terrifying most people die in shock & Mimikyu will do everything in its power to prevent anyone from seeing to prevent such a fate. I feel so bad for Mimikyu as it lives such a painful & lonely life. All it wants is a friend! It made that one episode in the anime where Jessie helped her Mimikyu fix its costume when it ripped all the more heartwarming!
6. Cubone
Moon Pokedex Entry:
The skull it wears on its head is that of its dead mother. According to some, it will evolve when it comes to terms with the pain of her death.
Ultra Sun Pokedex Entry:
At night, it weeps loudly for its dead mother, but those cries only attract its natural enemy—Mandibuzz.
Okay, we've known since the very first Pokemom game that Cubone is a naturally depressed and grieving Pokemon that wears the Skull of its deceased mother. I mean in Lavender Town, there's an entire quest you have to complete where the deceased mother of Cubone is terrorizing the town. But, Ultra Sun just made Cubone all the more a depressing Pokemon. It's Entry talks about how Cubone cries so pitifully it attracts its enemy: Mandibuzz. This tells us that most of the time Cubone die due to them grieving...
I wanna give Cubone a hug 🫂
7. Drifloon
Heartgold & Soulsilver Pokedex Entry:
It is whispered that any child who mistakes Drifloon for a balloon and holds on to it could wind up missing
To put it simply, Drifloon is known for stealing & killing children that mistaken it for a real balloon. That's so morbid!!! Furthermore, in Legends Arceus there's an entire side quest where you have to save a child a Drifloon was attempting to 'steal into the afterlife'. Sad part is, the kid's mother didn't care enough about her kid to tell him to stop playing with Drifloon. She KNEW Drifloon were notorious for killing children. She instead tasked the player to check up on her kid that was playing with Drifloon to make sure it wasn't trying steal her child. And guess what? It WAS trying to steal the child.
8. Komala
Sun Pokedex Entry:
It is born asleep, and it dies asleep. All its movements are apparently no more than the results of it tossing and turning in its dreams.
To put it simply, this Pokemon has never been awake a second of its life. The anime further elaborated on Komala & how heavily it sleeps by giving it an entire episode where Ash and Company try to awaken Komala but brutally fail in doing so. Komala, despite being asleep its entire life, can move around, attack & dodge attacks all in its sleep! Talk about being the master of Sleep Walking!
9. Tyranitar
Diamond, Pearl & Platinum Pokedex Entry:
If it rampages, it knocks down mountains and buries rivers. Maps must be redrawn afterward.
So, you mean to tell me Tyranitar is so strong it can collapse mountains?! Only one other Pokémon holds this ability and that's Regigigas!!! Long story short, don't mess with a Tyranitar!
10. Banette
Ruby & Sapphire Pokedex Entry:
Banette generates energy for laying strong curses by sticking pins into its own body. This Pokémon was originally a pitiful plush doll that was thrown away. A cursed energy permeated the stuffing of a discarded and forgotten plush doll, giving it new life as Banette. The Pokémon's energy would escape if it were to ever open its mouth.
So... Banette is the aftermath of a cursed voodoo doll? Well... Now I know voodoo exists in the world of Pokemon and now it explains why Banette is so unsettling to look at. Furthermore, the fact that Banette has a Zipper mouth and its purpose is just terrifying. In the 3D models of Banette, it unzips its mouth when it faints. So you mean to tell me when Banette is defeated in battle, hell breaks loose? Furthermore, Banette's mega Evolution consists of what happens when you unzip Banette's mouth.
Which Pokedex Entry is the most interesting to you?
