Fanmade Gigantamax Forms

Dynamax. Dynamaxing is a battling gimmick introduced in Pokemon Sword & Shield where a Pokemon grows tremendous in size and some Pokemon even take on a new appearance, much like Mega Evolution. When the Pokemon takes on a new appearance when Dynamaxed, it's called Gigantamax.

Now we all know that Gigantamax will never come back to the Pokemon series much like it's predecessor Mega Evolution. Gigantamax wasn't the best battle gimmick and you rarely used it especially if you don't battle competitively or utilize Raid Dens. However, I won't deny, I prefer Gigantamaxing 100% over Terastalizing. Once again, unless you're a competitive battler, you have no use for Terastalizing.

So today, we're gonna go over a bunch of fan made Gigantamax forms and why Pokemon realistically should've made them cannon.

1. Gigantamax Tinkaton

This fanmade Gigantamax Tinkaton is just crazy. Taking inspiration from Tinkaton's evolution line of Pokedex entries, the Tinkaton family actively hunt down various Steel Type Pokemon and kill them in order to harvest their metals and utilize them to strengthen their hammers. Specifically, the Tinkaton family will hunt down Pawniard & Bisharps for their metals and then Tinkaton hunt down Corviknight for sport. This Gigantamax form for Tinkaton shows Tinkaton wearing metals from a variety of Steel Type Pokemon such as Magnezone, Skarmory, Bronzong, Melmetal, Corviknight, Zacian AND many others believe it or not. This Gigantamax form reminds me of Gigantamax Garbodor of whom is a heaping landfil of dead Pokemon and large landmarks such as planes and cars. This actually seems like something Pokemon would've done but of course Tinkaton hadn't exist yet as of Sword & Shield.

2. Gigantamax Leavanny

Considering how much representation Unova Pokemon got in Sword & Shield, it's a bit of a surprise Leavanny never made an appearance in the pair of games. Leavanny is a Gen 5 Pokemon that is known for being a motherly bug Pokemon who sews her own clothing out of nature. This Gigantamax form for Leavanny gives Leavanny a makeover as Leavanny now wears a Victorian dress made of leaves. The Galar Region was set in the United Kingdom where the Victorian Era took place. Giving Leavanny this Victorian makeover as a Gigantamax form seems like a missed opportunity on Pokemon's ends especially IF Leavanny is actually one of the better Bug types out there. Heck, she could've even been Milo's Ace Pokemon too since Leavanny is a Pokemon that required high friendship to evolve. One thing for sure is that Appletun doesn't feel right as Milo's Ace Pokemon...

3. Gigantamax Flygon

The entire fanbase was furious when Pokemon never gave us a Mega Evolution for Flygon, especially when the company PLANNED on a Mega Evolution but couldn't settle on a design. Therefore, we all sat tight HOPING Flygon would get a Gigantamax form as redemption for what we never got in Gen 6 and once again it never happened... The Gigantamax form for Flygon is actually quite simplistic as Flygon now has an extra set of wings much like it's previous evolution: Vibrava. In this form, Flygon could finally get the Bug-Dragon Type treatment it should've always had too. I feel like Gigantamax Flygon should've been Raihan's Ace Pokemon instead of Duraludon. In the anime, Raihan uses his Flygon the most out of his entire team AND Raihan's entire gimmick is that he utilizes weather conditions and surely enough, Flygon is a Pokemon known to use Sandstorm. Making Flygon Raihan's Ace would've redeemed how Flygon never got the Mega Evolution treatment, Raihan IS one of the strongest trainers on the planet and Flygon fits Raihan's image better too.

4. Gigantamax Slowbro

I can't be the only one let down by Galarian Slowpoke, Slowbro & Slowking. Galarian Slowbro is Avery's Ace Pokemon that he Gigantamaxes in the Sword & Shield DLC and I was 100% certain that Pokemon was gonna give Slowbro and/or Slowking a Gigantamax form so it was a let down when Avery Gigantamaxed Slowbro and it didn't change forms... Therefore, a Gigantamax form for Galarian Slowbro is in order!!! Regional Forms surprisingly don't have Gigantamax forms for some reason. This fanmade Gigantamax form utilizes how the Shellder on Slowbro's arm acts as a gun and makes it into a cannon upon Gigantamaxing. It's a small change but makes all the difference! Let's give Avery and Galarian Slowbro some justice!!!

5. Gigantamax Xatu

I was surprised when Xatu was present in the Galar Pokedex as it's one of the more quirky and forgotten Pokemon out there. This Gigantamax form for Xatu is inspired by Xatu's Pokedex entry and inspiration as a Native American Pokemon. Xatu and Natu are known as Totem Pole Pokemon as they stack themselves upon one another in order to look like Totem Pole on top of other Native American details. I feel that a Gigantamax form for Xatu will hit the nail over the heads of us fans that Xatu is a Totem Pole and considering Pokemon didn't do this just feels like yet ANOTHER missed opportunity.

6. Gigantamax Musharna

Oddly enough, Musharna was also present in the Sword & Shield/Galar Pokedex yet nothing came from their inclusion. Unless you watched the Pokemon Anime, you wouldn't know that the weird trunk/horn on Musharna and Munna are actually dream clouds that can manifest into a variety of forms based on what someone is dreaming about. In this fanmade form for Musharna, Musharna's dream cloud has manifested into a giant guardian/Hypno ready for battle. Now this seems lesser likely for Pokemon to do but I won't deny this Gigantamax form just seems AWESOME and I wish Pokemon would show Musharna's capabilities more in game.

7. Gigantamax Cramorant

Of all the Galar Pokemon to recieve Gigantamax forms, I'm surprised Cramorant never got one. Cramorant is one of the more goofy Pokemon to debute in Sword & Shield from not only it's looks but also Cramorant's gimmick is that whenever it uses Dive, it'll have a Pokemon in its beak such as a Pikachu or Arrokuda. Your Rival, Hop, also uses a Cramorant in his final team. Half of Hop's Pokemon COULD Gigantamax such as his Corviknight, Snorlax, Sandaconda and his starter Pokemon but yet he NEVER utilized Gigantamaxing. What if Hop's Cramorant could Gigantamax? It would make Cramorant's place on Hop's team make more sense, it'd make Cramorant more desirable on top of how Gigantamax Cramorant actively has a WAILORD in its beak!!! I'm kind of upset Cramorant never got a Gigantamax form...

8. Gigantamax Runerigus

Runerigus is pretty much a Spiritomb knockoff as in an evil entity was bound to a relic and yet we don't actively see what Runerigus actually is outside of its ghostly arms. The Dragon runes on Runerigus' body gives us an idea of what it looks like, but it doesn't work for me. For how difficult it is to get Runerigus in the first place, it should've gotten a Gigantamax form!!! A Gigantamax Form for Runerigus should show us Runerigus' true appearance and that's why I feel this Gigantamax form feels like a missed opportunity. Heck, it probably would've been a better Ace Pokemon for Allister instead of Gengar considering Allister wears a mask and is sympathetic to Pokemon and Runerigus' pre evolution is a Yamask.

9. Gigantamax Polteageist

Another Pokemon I feel would've been better off as Allister's Ace as well as how I feel Polteageist is just a missed opportunity of a Pokemon, Polteageist is a ghost Pokemon that inhabited a tea pot. It goes day by day pretending to be a tea pot hoping People would mistake it for such and drink Polteageist's 'tea' in order to possess their host. What if Polteageist's Gigantamax form shows us the true terror that lies within that teapot it lives in? Once again, another HUGE missed opportunity on Pokemon's end as I feel Polteageist would've been better off as Allister's Ace/Gigantamax Pokemon considering Allister actively uses one in ALL of his teams and that the Pokemon just screams something to be desired. Besides Cramorant, Polteageist is the Galar Pokemon I'm surprised the most doesn't have a Gigantamax form.

10. Gigantamax Arcanine

For being dubbed the 'Legendary Pokemon' Arcanine surely doesn't have anything to back it up. Arcanine doesn't have a Mega Evolution, it took 20+ years to give it a regional form and therefore I don't see why Arcanine never got a Gigantamax form. I'd rather see Arcanine with a Gigantamax form than Charizard & Centiscorch combined! Yeah, primarily Kanto Pokemon have Gigantamax forms BUT I feel Arcanine deserves a Gigantamax form more than Centiscorch & Charizard. Centiscorch literally only gets longer in its Gigantamax form... Kabu is originally from Hoenn and he primarily uses Pokemon featured within the Hoenn Pokedex such as Torkoal, Ninetails and Arcanine. I feel Arcanine should've been Kabu's Ace since it's one every iteration of his team and that it rightfully deserves a Gigantamax form more than most Pokemon out there. Yeah this fanmade form doesn't do too much for it, but it definitely backs up the 'Legendary Pokemon' title that Arcanine has.

11. Gigantamax Conkeldurr

Conkeldurr is a goofy Pokemon no doubt BUT it's actually a great Pokemon. I've used one before in a playthrough and it holds up! It's another Pokemon I felt should've gotten a Gigantamax form more than others, specifically Machamp. Machamp's Gigantamax form didn't do much if anything for it and there's a reason nobody uses it. This fanmade form for Conkeldurr replaces the cement pillars they carry around for skyscrapers. This fits perfectly as Duraludon & Garbodor take on appearances mimicking human made structures and disasters. Oddly enough, I like Gigantamax Conkeldurr more than Conkeldurr on its own. IF Conkeldurr would've gotten a Gigantamax form, it should've became Bea's Ace/Gigantamax Pokemon. Who else agrees with me?

12. Gigantamax Octillery

Octillery on its own is hailed by many as one of the worst Pokemon in existence as it performs HORRIBLY in battle. What if it got a Gigantamax form for make up for its bad battle capabilities? This fanmade Gigantamax form takes inspiration from Octillery's origins as a military tank/an enemy featured within the Mega Man games. Yup, Octillery is based on a military vehicle and alot of people don't realize that. What if it's Gigantamax form doubles down on the military tank inspiration? It's not a necessary Gigantamax form and I highly doubt Pokemon would ever do it considering how much they censor guns in the games and anime (Inteleon somehow got a sniper rifle so explain that) but it's still a neat idea.

13. Gigantamax Reuniclus

I was surprised when Reuniclus was brought back into the Pokemon series after going 10+ years without an appearance. Reuniclus is an interesting Pokemon on its own as it's an anatomical Pokemon and I think it'd be pretty dang cool if it had some sort of alternate form. I honestly thought Oleana was gonna have a Gigantamax Reuniclus or Butterfree no joke! Oleana uses Pokemon similar to Lusamine in Sun & Moon, as in, she uses Pokemon that portray feminine beauty such as Frosslass & Salazzle so it was a surprise when Oleana's Gigantamax Pokemon wound up being Garbodor, a literal trash Pokemon. Yeah, Reuniclus isn't pretty persay but it's a unique Pokemon for sure and fits Oleana better than anything else. This fanmade form for Reuniclus has it take an even more unique appearance as it becomes gargantuan in size and looks intimidating as all heck. It honestly reminds me of the Titan Shifters in Attack on Titan. Anyone else agree?

14. Gigantamax Noivern

At first, I never thought I needed a Gigantamax form for Noivern until I actually saw this. This fanmade form for Noivern doesn't change up its appearance too much, but it makes all the difference. Noivern's inspiration takes from echolocation that Bats use due to how blind they are. Pokemon utilized Echolocation and turned Noivern into a soundwave/Amp Pokemon and that carried over into this fanmade Gigantamax form. It's ears are amps and Soundwaves are being projected on its wings. I REALLY want this but we all know that'll never happen now...

Which Gigantamax forms did you want/like the most?
