Even More Bad Shinies...
Yup, I'm going over more Shiny Pokemon that j feel have horrible shinies. Again, I'm gonna try and avoid listing off shinies that barely if at all change from the original Pokemon, but they'll still be featured to some extent.
1. Maushold
It IS a noticable change, for me at least. It still sucks nonetheless. Maushold's shiny is painstakingly bad as the shirt/trouser combo on these guys change from blue to yellow. Really? They couldn't make the mice grey or black but no, they change the color of clothes they wear... Ugh...
2. Pikachu
For the company mascot, it has a painful shiny. Yes, Pikachu is one of those Pokemon with a barely noticable shiny and the reason behind it is that the Company didn't want Pikachu's shiny to outshine the original. Okay fine, fair enough. But would it kill you to make the shiny better than just making it a deeper yellow?
3. Cinderace
People genuinely like the shiny Scorbunny line, but I don't enjoy Cinderace in particular. It just doesn't feel right and I know exactly why: They replaced the black with white. If only they kept the black, I WOULD enjoy Cinderace more but this shiny is just bad to me. You need black to offset all the bright colors otherwise it just feels overwhelmingly bright.
4. Forretress
I've never liked this Pokemon, in fact it's pretty forgotten. I'm surprised it came back in Scarlet & Violet to be honest. It's shiny makes it 100% yellow and I'm not a fan of it. It's boring, it's far from nice and not creative either. The Scarlet Violet shiny for Forretress DOES redeem it a little bit as it goes from yellow to a shiny Gold coloration. Still not a fan, but I do like the shiny more now than before.
5. Most of the Violet Pardox Pokemon
I think the Scarlet Paradox Pokemon don't have creative shinies, being they have the same shiny as the Pokemon they're based on, but they look nice. Violet on the otherhand, every shiny becomes silver, and it takes all the fun out of the Paradox forms as it's boring... very few of the Violet Paradox forms actually rock the silver look like Iron Valiant & Iron Thorns, but the rest need a makeover, especially Iron Juglius.
6. Kommo-o
In the previous update, remember how much I didn't like shiny Sneasle & Weavile? Yeah... Same case here. Kommo-o sports the SAME nauseating yellow and magenta color combo. Sadly, the yellow is even worst than Weavile as it's a mucus yellow-green and it goes even less with pink. Who keeps green-lighting the yellow magenta shinies!?!?!?!
7. Crobat
Shiny Golbat was one of my first ever shinies, so when it became Crobat, I thought it had such a gross green coloration on its wings. It's a vomit green. Shiny Zubat & Golbat sport a very nice emerald green color so shiny Crobat was a punch in the gut with disappointment. What is up with Pokemon and choosing the WORST shades of green for shiny Pokemon!?!?!
8. Garchomp
What happened? WHAT HAPPENED!?!?!?! Gible and Gabite actually have noticable and nice shinies. Gible's red belly is replaced with yellow while Gabit's grey skin is replaced with a vibrant really nice shade of blue. Garchomp on the otherhand, you can't even tell if it's shiny UNLESS it's standing right next to its non-shiny counterpart. How is it shiny? It's colors are SLIGHTLY washed out.
9. Sprigatito
While I GENUINELY love shiny Floragato & Meowscarada, in fact I find them to be some of my all time favorite shinies, it just doesn't work for Sprigatito. The Purple eyes just don't work on such a minty green canvas sadly. The purple eyes work on Floragato and Meowscarada because their shinies sport black/DARK green instead of a forest green, but yeah, on such a vibrant green body, the red works better than purple. Like this isn't a bad shiny, it just pales in comparison to its evolutions.
10. Blissey
Once again, WHAT HAPPENED!?!?!? Chansey is a fan favorite shiny as it sports a REALLY nice green coloration, and thats saying alot since I dont typically like green shinies, but Blissey completely ruins it. Shiny Blissey is unrecognizable. It's a VERY slightly lighter shade of pink. Blissey is notoriously disliked in the fanbase for its disappointing shiny, especially compared to its pre evolution, and I have to agree.
11. The Galarian Kanto Bird Trio
I get that these are regional variants, but their shinies shouldn't look like their regional variant. It just screams laziness in my eyes and honestly, it looks bad on Galarian Moltres in particular especially since Galarian Moltres ISNT a fire type. The shiny for Galarian Zapdos is okay, but I still prefer the original coloration while Galarian Articuno actually looks awesome sporting its Kanto coloration. This is primarily me ripping on Galarian Moltres' shiny, but oh well.
12. Hisuian Typhlosion
To go with the above entry, Hisuian Typhlosion's shiny takes on the coloration of its Johto counterpart and it BARELY changes in response. Honestly, I wouldn't notice if it was shiny unless it was side by side with the original.
13. Kecleon
You know... I sometimes really hate Pokemon. You might be thinking, 'Kecleon has a great shiny' but it doesn't. The fanbase firmly believes shiny Kecleon is Pink when in reality, it retains ALL of its original coloration except, it's red belly band is now blue. The reasoning behind why the fanbase thinks Shiny Kecleon is pink is thanks to Mystery Dungeon as it sported a pink Kecleon shopkeeper as so to differentiate the two shopkeepers. That being said, it's shiny SHOULDVE been pink but in reality it's not.
14. Unovan Darumaka
Maybe it's just me, but I'm not a fan of shinies that make the Pokemon's coloration pastel or washed out and that's the exact case with Darumaka here. It's not a bad shiny persay, but it should've matched its evolution: Darmanitan, whereas it's shiny is a dark red. It would've looked nicer.
15. Bergmite & Avalugg
These two can't catch a break can they? Mentioned in the previous update, I talked about how bad Hisuian Avalugg's shiny was. While Kalos Bergmite & Avalugg do have better shinies, in fact they're the first shinies I found in Sword & Shield, I won't deny that their shiny is lackluster. It becomes a barely noticable teal. It don't look bad, but it could've been better.
16. Mightyena
I don't like shinies whose colors are blue and yellow. It don't look right and while I don't mind shiny Mightyena for the most part, the blue is putting me off something fierce. I don't like it.
17. Paldean Tauros
Barely noticable and not good in the first place. Paldean Tauros' shiny has its black and grey colors flip flopped. This especially sucks when the black and grey are already nearly identical. Heck, this is one of the rare instances I would've preferred if the shiny looked like one of its other regional forms.
18. Scovillain
Once I found out THIS was Scovillain's shiny, I was disappointed. The shiny swaps out Scovillain's green torso for yellow and this seems like such a giant missed opportunity. They should've changed the colors of their heads instead! There's orange and yellow peppers out there!!!
19. Noivern
I love shiny Noibat, it's one of my all time favorite shinies, but Noivern sucks in comparison. The green doesn't suit it. Or at least they went about it wrong. Shiny Noibat had its purple become green. On Noivern, the black became green and purple became black. Admittedly, shiny Noivern looks better in Scarlet & Violet, but it doesn't redeem this shiny.
20. Beartic
Shiny Beartic is another shiny you won't notice unless it's RIGHT next to the original Pokemon. That's how barely noticable and bad of a shiny it is. I genuinely thought Shiny Beartic was Pink up until a few weeks ago and honestly, I would've preferred a pink Polar bear.
Do you think any of these guys are bad shinies?
