as you know i am writing a shelper fic. i actually won't stfu about it

i want to start this off by saying, as much as i adore soulmates, it's no longer a passion project. this fic is.

not to say i don't like soulmates, i love it, i also love my other fics and i'm sure once i get past the development stage of my other fic that will become my huge passion project.

and i really went deep into the writing process with this fic in a way i didn't with soulmates

actually with soulmates i made no plan or did any form of character development until i took multiple 6 month breaks (rip to all the readers who dipped) then i was like, yo this high key sucks

so halfway through the fic i speed ran all tule of character establishment and development.

listen, the plot of soulmates? she's done. in fact soulmates has nothing to do with soulmates. im just trying to get a decent fucking payoff

anyway, i actually know what i want to do with this fic.

in fact i actually chose a *gasp* theme

one of the central themes of that fic is family, and i wanted it to be a bit more positive

but i quickly shifted that to have a contrast between shel, how has an amazing relationship with her family, and piper, who has the opposite

as i keep developing this fic and now that i'm actually writing i'm having this ongoing debate on whether or not i should shift it to being relationships and duality

when it comes to relationships, piper and shel are both the same in regards to what they want and they compliment each other well in that aspect, so while they're relationship is a big part of the fic, i want family relationships to be an even bigger part

so, rather than the ship being the main part, i want two central plots, which is difficult, but doable

anyway, i also wanted to get into food.

i don't think that piper would have an unhealthy relationship with food because she seems to be very aware of herself and her body, and i kind of leaned into that by making her main workout rock climbing, which requires a fuck ton of bodily awareness

and shel's parents own a restaurant (i always do that lmao) and i think that her relationship with food is so deep, in a very healthy way.

i actually plan on leaning into that by making shel's love language being ensuring that piper eats and drinks water

i also just want to play with vegetarian latin recipes in this fic. personally, i couldn't live without meat, but it's been very cool to see the alternatives.

like, jackfruit ropa vieja??? it's actually really fucking good???

that's because it's all in the marinade and how you cook certain products and manipulate them

but i cannot go into detail because... it's boring

so i don't want piper to have a bad relationship with food because then the relationship would get very pushy and a bit controlling from pipers perspective and i don't want that

so, i took a look at shel's family to see if maybe one of them would have a bad relationship

and... no. especially because luis, shel's brother, is in fitness and explains why having abs and dieting is actually really shitty for you and i think that, once again, food is a big part of their lives it just doesn't make sense from a narrative perspective unless i go very deep into one character, who is the only one i can see having this, but i kind of don't want to

so i go on over to pipers side

and boy oh boy, look at the opportunity!

yeah so i'd use that as a point of comparison

i also just want to showcase the difference between how tight knit shel's family is and how separated pipers is

listen, shel has 6 siblings (rip) one nibling, niece, and two nephews. not to mention her two brother-in-laws and future sister-in-law and youngest sisters bf, while everyone adores

and every day, shel talks to them, especially luis and his fiancé ava. those three are the demons of the family

side note, there is a distinct lack of food in my house so i'm eating a huge ass bowl of vegetables after a workout and i accidentally put in too much salt and i suffer

like, my hispanic ass doesn't even have bread or rice

anyway, even nora, who married the asshole white boy that joined the military and is patriotic™️ moved to NY, where shel lives, to still be close to family

btw nora used to be very close to shel but homophobic husband does some shit and we get ✨drama✨

but even though there is a rift, shel is totally willing to still have a relationship with nora and her kids, but not george. fuck george

whereas piper was in hollywood, except this time it's accurate

come on, did you really think that piper was safe from paparazzi??? really???

listen, i can excuse it in the og books and soulmates because it's for a younger audience and im trying to lighten the fucking mood

but not anymore!!!

dw, she's safe now, but that's some trauma

not to mention i really honed into tristan's shit

i am tristan's #1 anti, and i will not be holding back in this fic. not in the slightest

meanwhile julio and maria (shel's parents) are like "shelbita, you do what make you happy and brings you joy so that you can have a happy life. even tío renier got a part time job but he's happy and healthy. you do what you want to do and we will support you."

you know, like, parents who don't want their kids to be a slave to capitalism

whereas george (asshole white guy) was told "make money and serve the country" and piper was told "make me proud"

the only way to make tristan proud is to do what tristan wanted you to do, which piper does not enjoy. at all

also while i'm writing this fic i'm realizing how much shel's changed.

she's older here (22 at the start) and dude to the changes in her upbringing, she's much more sure of herself and rather than extremely motherly, she's caring but blunt which can be seen as insensitive, except this time it doesn't come out of nowhere

she's also not in entertainment, she's a cosmetologist

i get to play with fashion here

and piper actually has a character arc here where she evtually realizes that she doesn't owe her father her time, since he never gave her his. and tries to build a relationship with drew in a way that's realistic because she realizes that her entire family was pinned against each other by the paparazzi and piper was tristan's favorite

there is also a cat whom both piper and shel adopt after they move in together

which, they're sapphics, it'll happen fast

and i also want to show that found family is an amazing trope, because you can bet your ass that piper and leo are fucking siblings and they love each other so much

also, shel's family adopts piper, because yeah.

anyway, i finally know the general plot and i was very excited so i'm telling it to you now!

and now i want to make character playlists, which i've actually never done before. same with aesthetics. i feel like it's be cool, but it's been difficult

so i've just made this fic in sims with incredible detail

like, making shel's apartment is taking up so much of my time since she's into boho industrial and translating that when sims doesn't have the exact fucking window with the exact measurements and the exact type of arch is killing me.

anyway, when i finish making the rest of it i will show you.

oh, i forgot to mention that lavinia and shel are besties, in fact lavinia was also adopted into the family.
