currently 3ish hours into a 6 hour drive, and just finished up at a rest stop and i figured i should talk to y'all to ease my boredom

i've counted 37 anti-abortion billboards thus far. gotta love florida. i don't think i'm gonna count anymore tho because i'm getting into that red neck area so there's going to be too much to count istg

i've listened to two full albums so far: lemonade and the black parade. im getting through Act 3: Life and Death rn

there are so many interesting things that you see in florida that i want to photograph and share with you here, but i'm so scared y'all are gonna attempt to murder me—

like there was a sign that said "need to pee? go to the bee!" and it had the most horrifying picture of an animated bee i've ever seen in my lifetime.

i did end up going to the bee, obviously.

anyway, what should we talk about? im sure none of y'all care about my road trip. is it really a road trip? like i'm still in the same state, so idk why it would be called a road trip

to make matters worse

i want to write a band au so bad but i know i won't finish it

but i really want to.

here's the thing, i know what i want to do, i just don't know how i'd do it.

so we have annabeth, hazel, and shel in an R&B group that totally isn't just Flo in a different font.

THEN we have nico, percy, piper, and austin starting their own prog band that totally isn't The Dear Hunter in a different font.

pipers the drummer, btw. i feel like i need to put that out there. she's the drummer.

so the idea is that even though it would all be the same Dear Hunter songs, because i can't write songs (i've tried and failed) but they have more vocalists to make the story easy to follow

for those who don't know The Dear Hunter has something called The Dear Hunter Acts, which is 6 albums with this massive story about a Boy, presumably named Hunter.

i love these albums, and i can't wait for the last one to come out (there are 5 out rn) and i just want to use their songs in a way that i enjoy, which is by making it slightly more musical theatre.

basically the whole thing is that they need a vocalist for the narrator. and nico was related to hazel, but she didn't have the voice for it and annabeths voice is too light, but shel's voice has a lot of versatility and knows how to scream and has a lot of endurance.

so she says yeah why not, we can do a feature

it ends up not being just a feature. in fact, everyone ends up getting involved

here's the thing

anyway, i got a whole backstory for all these characters in this situation.

miss annabeth was a church girl and learned to sing in a choir and has a nice tone with a very light pop sound and miss ma'ams range? like, we've got whistle tones in Annabeth Chase, she saw 90s-2000s Mariah Carey and said yes.

hazel is classically trained and has a more deep tone and she's the deepest alto and boy can hazel dance. like she can do a three hour show with full choreography beyoncé style and still be fine

meanwhile shel is self taught, and istg self taught vocalists are always the best vocalists. like Renee Rapp??? Faouzia??? amazing.

so she didn't have a teacher and was able to keep her organic tone and build her voice into the music she enjoyed which was R&B and punk rock. because of that she has the runs and range. she's working on being able to dance and stuff while singing, because she gets tired the fastest out of the three

then we have austin who isn't good at singing, but has experience with orchestrations and spent years and years on a fuck ton of different instruments, and he has been writing music but it didn't have any lyrics

piper can sing, but doesn't like to. but she is a damn good drummer and wants to be known for something other than her dad, so when austin enlists her for help in making a demo she doesn't see a problem with it.

percy and nico are both guitarists, but nico is 100% the vocalist of the two. it's not to say that percy can't sing, he can. nico's just better, and percy doesn't want the spotlight anyway.

but they all band together and they think of this plot for a massive music saga, and hazel, who writes most of the music for Flo-but-not, starts thinking of a full plot and starts writing lyrics.

eventually, shel gets roped in as the narrator, and she doesn't really write lyrics until the 3rd album, mainly because that's when you start to hear a difference in musicality of The Dear Hunter-but-not.

annabeth and hazel are the primary lyricists of Acts 1-2 with all three of the girls writing Act 3

and the thing is i love the idea and it's been in my head for over a year

BUT I PHYSICALLY CANT WRITE IT

and it's painful

also, i just realized whats the point of Flo-but-not existing in the first place??

like it serves no purpose

ok so editing this storyline a bit:

nico and hazel are related and that's how they know each other. austin knew piper who knew annabeth. nico and percy were friends beforehand as well. hazel knew of shel from social media. when will comes in for act 3 to play deadbeat dad, he's austin's half-brother.

okay that's it.

that would make nico and shel our primary vocalists, and we can say that our three girls have a song during The Oracles of Delphi Express in act 2.

this makes no sense to anyone but me rn, and that's ok i'm literally just writing out my though process.

percy can sing in act 3 when he ends up playing the brother, and i think that hazel would have to play the mom, because the other girl would be the prostitute that Hunter falls in love with

OR idea

that prostitute only has one song, so that can be an arc for piper.

so pipes plays ms leading, and hazel is the mom, annabeth is backing

OH BUT THEN HOW WILL I DO ORACLES OF DELPHI EXPRESS

ok so hazel, annabeth, and shel each play one of the oracles. they tend to be backing and each play their own instruments because there a fuck on of instruments in these songs so we need them.

maybe drew's the mom. what's the moms name?? oh it's ms terri.

ok so drew is ms. terri, and she comes in the band via piper.

OH ACTUALLY THAT WORKS BECAUSE THAT WAY WE CAN GIVE THE NARRATOR AN ARC IN THE MUSIC

im on the last song of Act 3, and i'm probably going to listen to it again

i know everyone says Act 4 is the best, but i disagree. The Tank??? amazing. top tier.

also this album is when everything starts to make sense, so this is the best album.

i will not accept criticism.

ok well, i just spent an hour on here just thinking of this and i'm about to repeat this album and possibly pass out for the first time on this ride.
