Helping with Homework

HUEHUEHUE! Here comes Felina with another angry rant! :D

*everyone groans* *I pat your shoulders* You get used to it after awhile. :3

Anyway...

This year in school (the school year before summer break started for me), I remember people asking for help with homework at my lunch table. Now, here was Felina innocently thinking that her friends would help the one asking step-by-step. So, what happens when people start DOING each other's homework instead of HELPING?

Innocent Felina gets FRAGGING PISSED.

( XD )

On the outside, innocent Felina is all smiles. But on the inside, ohhhh, SHE IS A DEMON FROM DOWN BELOW (no, I am not talk not about people's lower private parts)! You see, I was screaming inside my head at the people "helping" with homework.

First of all, "doing" and "helping" are TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT WORDS. When someone asks for help, you don't suddenly take charge and do whatever they asked for help with for them, you give them a little nudge in the right direction or work with them! Like, what?! XD

Now, sadly, I know that when people asked for help on homework at my table, they meant for someone to just do it for them. At least it wasn't because they were lazy - they literally didn't know what to do on the homework. But if you want to understand, if you want to actually learn, if you want to get it (that goes with "understand", Felina...), you don't give your homework to someone else. In fact, that someone else is supposed to work it out with you, not without you.

Whenever someone asked me for help on homework, I asked what they needed help on. They would show me, then I would read the directions to myself. Then, I explained what the directions meant if they didn't get that, and we would do the question together or I would let them do the question themselves. And whenever someone got down because they didn't understand something in a class or if they're grades were bad, I remember smiling reassuringly and telling them that it would be alright, that they would get it eventually, that all they have to do is try and stay positive. After all, if you think you can't do something, you trick yourself into believing you can't do it when you most likely can. You just have to try and keep trying. That's something I'm still working on for myself, so it isn't easy. :3 What both pleases and amazes me the most, though, is that I would be patient with whoever I was helping (I'm really impatient a lot of the time ;~;). Quite honestly, I wouldn't really care if I can be patient when someone needs me if it weren't for me wanting to be a counselor when I'm older. You need to be patient to be a counselor, it seems. So, I'm HAPPEH~! ;D
