First Day at School (I'm tired)
This year at school, we have a bunch of new staff. New teachers, new principal, new vice principal. Just a lot of new.
And that means a lot of new stuff. We had an assembly today. The new principal spoke, and I like him. He seems like a cool dude that just wants everyone to be happy and safe. During his speech, he only spoke about positive things (respect, responsibility, being safe, etc.). Not once did he ever talk about detentions/referrals or suspensions (which was cool. That shows that he isn't very strict, but can be when he really needs to be). He also explained some new rules, which were added for only our safety. Everyone that is a student or staff member (and guests that come to our school, of course) is to always, always, always wear their lanyard. That way, if we see someone not wearing a lanyard, we know that either that is a bad person, or it's just someone who (for some reason) wasn't given a guest lanyard thing. Either way, if a student sees someone without a lanyard, they go to a teacher and tell them immediately. That means that we can all be safer at school, and we can prevent any possible Code Reds (you know, when there's an intruder inside your school).
I like that rule. This principal guy knows what he's doing (and he has a cool tattoo on his arm).
We've also been introduced to hall passes, and staff will be patrolling the hallways to see if anyone is sneaking out of class or ditching school. If you're a student, and you don't have a hall pass of any kind (be it bathroom passes, passes to go to the nurse, passes to go to the office, stuff like that), my guess is that you get dragged to the principal's office (no one explained what would happen to you).
There's also other stuff, but what really interested me a LOT was this thing called "The Matrix". It's this piece of paper taped everywhere with rhymes on it, explaining to be respectful of others, be responsible, and to be safer. Personally, I like that it rhymes, apparently others in 7th grade don't, whatever. We all like what we like, and it doesn't matter (well, it does matter, you just don't have to make a fuss if someone disagrees with you on something or likes something else better than what you like).
I also really like The Matrix because it reminds me of Optimus Prime's "Matrix of Leadership". But only the name reminds me of it... not so much what's written on the silly (but still cool and important) papers.
All in all, we're a better school now. I like that our school is a little stricter, because, now that I think about it, our school wasn't... there was just.... something wrong with the way it functioned before.
And I have to go now. Gotta go do homework (a worksheet for Math where it asks questions about me and all that cool jazz. It's not really homework, except for the fact that I have to do it XD So... fun homework! :D).
