CHAPTER 47: THE MESSAGE

"When will he be back?" Miko asked Ratchet. Currently, Miko, Jack, Raf and Evelyn were waiting for Optimus to come back so they could all see the Star Sabre with their own eyes.

"ETA 5 minutes." Ratchet said. "Be patient, he's out on patrol and he doesn't need you pestering him."

"I might die of boredom in those 5 minutes." Miko said and placed her face in her hands with a pout.

"Still though, if the sword really is as powerful as you say, this could turn the tables in the war, right?" Jack asked.

"Yes, it could." Ratchet agreed.

"What exactly is the Star Sabre made of?" Raf asked.

Ratchet paused as he thought about it. Then he shrugged. "Who knows? My best guess is that it's a combination between science and magic."

"You believe in magic?" Evelyn asked.

"Depends." Ratchet said.

"Wait, if the Star Sabre could split mountains apart like butter, why didn't you lot use it back on Cybertron to end the war right then and there?" Evelyn pointed out.

The other three were about to ask the same thing and once again they all looked at the Autobot medic for an answer.

"That's because these relics are older than all of us here combined! They were used by the dawn of Primus and used by the Thirteen, as time passed they became nothing more than a legend." Ratchet said.

"And look what we have now." Evelyn said.

Ratchet nodded. "My best guess is that while these weapons are capable of doing much good, it can also cause much bad. You've seen the mass destruction they're capable of doing. Imagine what were to happen if the Decepticons got their hands on it!

"Alpha Trion didn't want to risk it so he sent them off world and well, they ended up here." He said.

"So you guys coming to Earth isn't such a bad thing after all." Raf said.

"In a way." Ratchet admitted.

They heard a truck horn and perked up. "Looks like the big guy's back!" Miko said leaning over the rail to see.

Optimus arrived back and transformed.

"Welcome back, Optimus." Evelyn greeted.

"Good to see you too, Eve." He greeted back. "And the rest of you." He greeted the others.

"Can we see it now?" Miko said pushing pass Evelyn.

"See what?" Optimus asked.

"The Star Sabre! The one you found yesterday and used to kick the con's tailpipe!" Miko said and mimed swinging a sword.

"Will you quit pestering him?! That relic is one of the most powerful Cybertronian weapons in existence! It is not a toy used to satisfy children's curiosity!" Ratchet snapped.

Miko ignored him and looked back at Optimus. She clasped her hands together and gave him her best puppy dog eyes. "Please? Just one peek? Pretty please?" she asked.

"I'm actually pretty tempted to see it too." Jack admitted.

"We won't go anywhere near it." Raf said.

"C'mon, Optimus, please? Just one quick swing?" Evelyn asked. She wanted to take a few more pictures of it up close too.

Optimus thought about it then shrugged. "Very well." He said.

Ratchet looked at him baffled. "What?! Optimus I thought you knew better."

"Would it do any harm to indulge a child's curiosity and eagerness to learn, old friend?" Optimus asked.

"They just want to see it for their own entertainment." Ratchet said.

"Hey!" Jack, Raf, Miko and Evelyn said.

"We want to see it up close to learn more about it too." Raf defended.

"Yeah, besides what's the point of retrieving it if you're just goanna lock it away?" Jack said.

Optimus being the responsible leader he was decided to step in before an argument could ensue. "It is alright, I was about to retrieve it anyway to examine it myself and see if there's more to it than meets the eye. I think it's best if you call the others here as well." He said.

Ratchet nodded and called the others into the main room. Soon, all the members of Team Prime along with the four humans were there, except Optimus who went to retrieve the Star Sabre.

When they heard the massive pede-steps of Optimus coming back, Miko leaned precariously close to the edge of the railing and Evelyn had to grab her cousin's collar to make sure she didn't topple over.

When Optimus came back wielding the Star Sabre, their breaths were taken away.

"Woah...." Jack said as he admired the massive sword.

"That is one big sword." Raf said. He could already guess the sword was almost as tall as Bumblebee.

"That is so rad." Miko said and she and Evelyn took their phone out to snap a picture. "So that's the relic the cons were after yesterday?"

"Indeed." Optimus said.

"Is it true? Can it only wielded by a Prime?" Jack asked.

"So it seems." Optimus said holding the sabre up with one servo effortlessly.

Again another picture was taken. And the Miko train left the station.

"Those cons are toast! Can that really split a mountain apart? Can it only do that? Can it cut through anything? Can you adjust its length? Are there others like that? Is there a miniature version of it? If so, can I have one? How was it build? How-" Miko's train of questions were stopped as Optimus raised the sabre an inch off the floor and thumped it down.

The 'thump' from it wasn't loud as in, have-to-cover-your-ears loud but firm and loud enough to shut Miko up.

Then he looked at everywhere in the eye/optic.

"I want everyone in this room to bear in mind that while this relic is powerful and capable of good, it is also more than capable of harm. We must never lose sight of the fact that upon this Earth, we are titans. And such power must be used wisely." He said.

Everyone nodded, even Miko, Jack, Raf and Evelyn. Then they all notice something.....the Star Sabre began to glow! Everyone took a step back.

"Uh, is it supposed to do that?" Bulkhead asked.

Optimus however felt something. It spread through his entire body down to the tiniest circuit. He heard it, a calling. He held the majestic blade in front of his face and his optics began to glow as brightly as the Star Sabre.

"It was not doing that yesterday." Evelyn said.

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" Miko asked.

Optimus however, didn't respond. He stood there stock still with the blade in front of him. His optics were staring deeply into the blade as though he was gazing upon a universe of knowledge.

:Optimus?: Bumblebee called tentatively.

Optimus didn't respond.

"He's in some kind of trance." Arcee said.

Ratchet stood in front of Optimus. "Optimus, speak to me." He said.

Optimus blinked. He seemed as though he was silently communicating with someone-as though they were whispering their darkest secrets into his audio receptors. His optics were focused and at the same time, blank and unseeing-oblivious to the others around him.

"Optimus!" Ratchet called again.

"I am receiving a message." Optimus finally spoke.

At that, the Autobots crowded around him and even Miko, Jack, Raf and Evelyn went down to stand by their respective guardian's pedes.

"From who?" Ratchet asked.

Optimus's optic ridges furrowed a bit before his optics widened in surprise. "Alpha Trion." He said.
