CHAPTER 37: HOSTAGE VIII; WE'RE HERE!

Evelyn and Miko sat inside their separate jars with a heavy heart. They were back in the med-bay, except this time Megatron ordered for them to be kept separated inside the jars.

Miko and Evelyn tried to look on the bright side of things but it was getting harder and harder to do so.

They hated feeling so helpless. The Autobots were about to sacrifice the relics they worked so hard to gain and the Omega Keys-the only things that gave them any hope of restoring their home, the same things they have risked their lives for, for them.

Miko and Evelyn felt terrible. Were they really worth that much? Would the bots go through with it?

On one hand, they felt a small surge of hope at the thought of being saved; on the other, they were hoping the Autobots would think of an alternative to save them without having to sacrifice so much.

'If only we could let them know where we are.' Evelyn thought. If she could just send out their location, she can give them a chance to launch a rescue. 'But the only way to do that...' she once again gazed at her phone which was out of reach.

Then she realized that the only cons in here were Knockout and Breakdown. 'This may be my only chance.' She realized. Then her resolve hardened. Even if it was a slim chance, it was better than none. She owed it to the bots to at least try.

"Can I please have my phone back?" she asked.

"What do you want it for?" Knockout asked.

"I'm bored." Evelyn said.

"Yeah right, do you think I'm stupid? You just want to call for help." Knockout sneered.

"Listen smarty-pants, we're flying god knows how high up in the air over god knows where, do you honestly think I can get a signal up here?" Evelyn said.

"She couldn't call for help even if she wanted to. There aren't any bars." Miko added. "That's how cellphones work, didn't you know smart guy?"

'I'm not taking any chances.' Knockout thought and went back to ignoring them.

"Please." Evelyn said.

"No." Knockout said.

Miko and Evelyn looked at each other. "Go all out." Evelyn said to Miko.

"Please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, please, preeeeeeeeeeeeetty please? Please, pweeeeeeeez? Please?! Please?! Please?!" they said over and over again like a mantra and kept banging their fists against the glass and stomping their feet like a toddler throwing a tantrum.

Knockout gritted his dental plates as he tried and failed to block the annoying persistent pleads out. While Breakdown's remaining optic was twitching in annoyance.

"PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GIVE ME BACK MY PHONE?!" Evelyn said louder. "Give it back! Give it back! Give it back!" she began and soon Miko took it up too.

"Give it back! Give it back! Give it back! Give it back! Give it back!" they chanted.

"Oh for the love of Primus sake, fine! You can have the fragging phone back, happy?!" Breakdown snapped.

"Breakdown!" Knockout hissed.

"Would you rather have to deal with this for the next 24 hours?" Breakdown shot back.

"Fine." Knockout reluctantly agreed.

He took the phone and tossed it to Evelyn into the jar. Evelyn caught it and released a breath of relief before gripping onto the phone like a lifeline, which it was. "Thank you. Now that wasn't too difficult, was it?" she said.

"Whatever. You can use it for an hour. Now keep quiet or..." one of his servos transformed into a drill. "You'll be having a doctor's appointment."

"Noted." Evelyn said.

When Knockout went back to his own business, Evelyn sat down and leaned casually against the glass. If she rushed, they might find it suspicious; she only had one shot at this.

Evelyn was taking a gamble. She had no idea if the app will work without a signal but she had to at least try.

Evelyn made sure to twist her body and held her phone close to keep it out of Breakdown and Knockout's sight while Miko too used her body to shield her cousin.

Evelyn's eyes widened and a smile spread across her face when she realized the app still worked!

She immediately sent out their location with a message.

'Miko and I are still alive. Help.'

Evelyn sent the message and moved the app to join the other groups of apps so at least the cons wouldn't see it right there the moment they lay their optics on it.

When Evelyn had to return her phone, she gave Miko a small wink.

Looks like there was a bright side to this after all.

Meanwhile back at the Autobot base......

Team Prime was gathered in the main room to come up with a plan. The relics they have gathered were laid in the middle of the group in a neat pile along with the Omega Keys.

"I say we destroy some of em' or place a bomb on them. That way the cons won't get it either." Bulkhead suggested. "I rather live with destroying them on my conscience than live knowing I handed them over to the cons."

"You think Megatron won't check for something like that?" Ratchet pointed out.

"Maybe we should hand over half of them first, then hand over all of them once we get both Miko and Eve back." Arcee suggested.

:We're actually going to go through with this?: Bumblebee asked.

"Optimus, I'm afraid I have to agree with Bumblebee here. As much as I care for those two, should we really sacrifice all that we've risked gaining for them?" Ratchet asked. Out of all of them, he was the most reluctant to give up the Omega Keys. The relics? Fine. But the Omega Keys, the one thing that could give them any hope of restoring their home? No.

"Are you saying we should just abandon them?!" Bulkhead said outraged.

"I never said that." Ratchet said as he put his servos up in a placating gesture. "Just....do we have to hand over the Omega Keys too?"

"Old friend, I understand your reluctance in this." Optimus said. "But we cannot allow our own goals to cloud what is right and wrong. To abandon Miko and Eve would be selfish and make us no better than the Decepticons.

"The keys and relics can be taken back, but a life cannot." Optimus let that hang and Ratchet knew that Optimus was right.

"Eve and Miko would do the same for us in a heartbeat." Smokescreen said. "Now, whose goanna go do the trade with Buckethead?"

"He would no doubt want me to go." Optimus said.

"All the more reason why you shouldn't." Arcee said.

Before they could discuss further, a message popped up on the computer screen.

"What now?" Ratchet grumbled but his optics widened as he saw who the message was from.

"By the AllSpark, it's a message from Eve!" he said.

"What?!" they all crowded around the computer. Smokescreen's optics were filled with hope and brighter than yesterday.

It was a location with a message attached to it.

'Miko and I are still alive. Help.'

"It's gotta be from Miko and Eve!" Bulkhead said, his optics glowing with hope and a smile spreading across his faceplate.

"What are we waiting for?! We have to go there right now!" Smokescreen said.

"Woah woah woah, hold your tires, how do we know if this is real? It could be a trap." Arcee said as she eyed the location suspiciously.

"Who cares?! This could be our only chance of getting them back! We have to go now. The cons could be doing Primus knows what to them right now!" Smokescreen said.

"Smokescreen, I understand you are eager to get Eve and Miko back safe and sound but we must not act rash. We must remain calm and think this thoroughly before any course of action can be taken." Optimus said. "Ratchet, can you trace the location?"
"Already on it." Ratchet said.

"I hate to be the bearer of bad news but what if Cee's right? What if it's a trap?" Bulkhead asked.

"So? Even if it is a trap this could be our only chance to get the girls back! Don't you see? If we go now and get them back then we won't have to even give anything up!" Smokescreen said. "I say we take our chances."

:I'm with Smokes.: Bumblebee agreed.

"What do you think, Optimus?" they all looked at him for a final decision.

Optimus thought it over. On one hand, it could honestly be a trap but he knew that Evelyn and Miko were smart, he wouldn't put it pass them to be able to find some way to communicate with them. If they did this now, then perhaps they wouldn't have to lose anything at all.

"Very well." Optimus said. Smokescreen gave a whoop in victory. "However, we must be cautious as we do not know if this is a trap. Ratchet, activate the groundbridge via the location Eve sent you. Smokescreen, Bumblebee and Bulkhead, come with me.

"Ratchet and Arcee, if we are not back by the designated time limit, grab the relics and proceed as planned. Get ready."

Smokescreen walked over and slapped the Phase Shifter onto his wrist. Bumblebee looked over and saw the burning determination in his optics.

"Let's kick some Decepticon tailpipe and get Miko and Eve back." Bulkhead said as they got ready.

The groundbridge opened up.

"Autobots, roll out!"
