CHAPTER 27: CAR WASH, FUN AND SLEEPOVER

Smokescreen's p.o.v

I am in a good mood today for three reasons.

Reason one, we got the relic. Reason two, it's a Friday which meant tomorrow's a weekend. Reason three, which also means more free time for me to hang out with Eve.

My injuries were still healing and according to Ratchet, I shouldn't strain my right servo and give it a week to heal which means I'll be out of the field for a while.

But at least I had more free time now. I took up Eve's suggestion and began watching TV like Bee and I have to say that MacGyver is awesome.

Anyways, right now I was waiting for Eve outside of school at my usual parking spot. I've made it a habit to park there.

I also noted that there were still some stains left on my floor mats from the whole Egypt thing. It's gross but I can't blame Eve. Apparently there was only so much a humans' tanks, I mean stomach could take.

Soon enough, the bell rang and there came Eve.

"So, how was school? Let me guess, pure horror?" I asked.

"It was actually pretty decent today." She admitted. "I didn't have Geo so I didn't have to put up with that sorry excuse for a teacher and Miss Louis said I did a pretty good job on the Egypt presentation."

"Really?" I said.

"Yup, pity I couldn't have told her about the fact that human civilization from centuries ago came in contact with giant alien robots." Eve joked. "That probably would've gotten me an A."

"In 'what were you thinking?' yeah, sure." I teased.

"Yeah." Eve said. Then she looked down and saw the stains. "Oh." She said and her face dropped.

"Don't worry about it." I said. "No biggie."

"Right." She said but she still looked a bit guilty. I didn't like that look, I preferred to see her smiling. Then I got an idea.

"Lately, I've been, I've been thinking
I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier

When the morning comes
When we see what we've become
In the cold light of day we're a flame in the wind
Not the fire that we've begun
Every argument, every word we can't take back
'Cause with the all that has happened
I think that we both know the way that the story ends

Then only for a minute
I want to change my mind
'Cause this just don't feel right to me

I want to raise your spirits
I want to see you smile but
Know that means I'll have to leave

Know that means I'll have to leave
Lately, I've been, I've been thinking
I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier

When the evening falls
And I'm left there with my thoughts
And the image of you being with someone else
Well, that's eating me up inside
But we run our course, we pretend that we're okay
Now if we jump together at least we can swim
Far away from the wreck we made

Then only for a minute
I want to change my mind
'Cause this just don't feel right to me
I want to raise your spirits
I want to see you smile but
Know that means I'll have to leave

Know that means I'll have to leave
Lately, I've been, I've been thinking
I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier

So I'll go, I'll go
I will go, go, go
So I'll go, I'll go
I will go, go, go

Lately, I've been, I've been thinking
I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier
Even though I might not like this
I think that you'll be happier, I want you to be happier

Then only for a minute (only for a minute)
I want to change my mind
'Cause this just don't feel right to me
I want to raise your spirits

I want to see you smile but
Know that means I'll have to leave

Know that means I'll have to leave
Lately, I've been, I've been thinking
I want you to be happier, I want you to be happier

So I'll go, I'll go
I will go, go, go."

Eve giggled. "Thanks Smokes. That cheered me up." She said.

"You're welcome." I said, glad to see her happy again. I don't know why but just seeing her down feels wrong. Wait, what? Did I just.....nevermind.

Soon we arrived at base.

"Hey, Ratchet?" I hear Eve ask. "Do you mind if Smokes and I use one of the empty rooms? The one that's connected to the water and all?"

"Sure." The doc mumbled more focused on the computers as usual. "Just don't make a mess."

Eve nodded and grabbed her backpack. "C'mon, Smokes. I've got a surprise for you." She said.

That caught my attention. "You do? What is it?" I asked.

"Well it wouldn't be much of a surprise if I told you now, would it?" she said with a wink.

We entered a spacious empty room and Eve turned on the lights. There were a few light bulbs on the ceiling to offer light and three taps one of the walls for water. There was a small table against one of the walls.

Eve walked over to the table and took of her sleeveless jacket and hand accessories and placed them on the table. Then she tied her hair up into a messy bun.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Well, I actually wanted to ask if you would let me do something for you." Eve said. "If you don't mind, could I um...give you a car wash?" she asked.

"A car wash? For what?" I asked.

"To make up for vomiting on your floor mats. It's the least I can do. Besides, it'll be fun." Eve said. "You don't have to say yes if it's too personal or an invasion of personal space."

"No!" I blurted out. I thought about it-Eve scrubbing her hands over my plating, me getting clean and a shiny finish, the two of us having fun without having to worry about anything, being able to bond and simply just enjoy ourselves and relax....

I sat down. "Of course you can. Side' it'll be rude of me to decline you such an honor." I said jokingly.

Eve rolled her eyes. "Don't let it get to your ego." She said. Then she smiled and took sponges and bottles of car wash soap out of her bag. She also took out a small bucket and filled it with water from the tap before connecting a hose to it.

"Could you transform into your alt-mode? It'll be easier that way." Eve asked.

"Sure." I said before transforming.

"I'll be gentle, promise." Eve said. I appreciated that, even though she would probably struggle to put a dent in my plating as strong as she was.

She grinned and dipped the sponge into the water. "Then let's do this."

Eve began to wash my hood and Primus, I could get used to this. It was nice to feel the sponge scrub away the grime and dirt on it. I noticed that Eve's tongue protruded out of the corner of her mouth ever so slightly as she focused on her task. She was quite focused since she made sure every speck of dust was out of my chinks.

She dunked the sponge into water and scrubbed, then dunked it in again and the cycle repeated. She had to lean over a bit to clean my windscreen. I felt her soft flesh against my body and oh for the- what's wrong with me?! Why do I keep thinking this?!

'Ca-calm down, you're just not used to this. That's right. This is totally cool. Just stay calm.' I told myself as my hood heated up a bit, I haven't been this close to Eve, as in....close close since the time we hugged each other.

But still, I couldn't help but enjoy the feeling of Eve leaning against me, her warm soft flesh against my hard smooth plating as she scrubbed away the grime, her chest rising and falling ever so slightly as she breathed.

Then she stood on her tiptoes as she washed the top. "You're in the splash zone." She said before taking the hose and splashing me with water.

She giggled and I chuckled.

"I'm going to clean the bottom now, tell me if I'm....touching anything wrong okay?" Eve said.

"Roger roger." I said.

She laid on her back and began to wash the hydraulics and pipes underneath me. She also gave me playful yet gentle prods ever now and then.

"Hey, that tickles." I said laughing slightly.

"Oh really? Oh gooche gooche goo~" she said and tickled the chink and hydraulic.

"Hahaha! Hey!" I said.

She snickered and went back to work.

"You done this before?" I asked.

"Yeah, I did this every now and then with grandpa." She said with a hint of bitter sweetness in her voice.

"Oh." Was all I said. Best to not prod.

"Alright, now I'm going to work on your interiors if you don't mind?" she said.

I opened up my door. "After you, ma'am." I said.

Evelyn smiled and climbed inside. I couldn't help but sigh in relaxation as she cleaned the leather seats.

She bent down and picked up my floor mats. "Be back in a moment." She said before climbing out. She went towards the tap and turned the water on.

She kneeled down and began to clean my floor mat. I saw her scrub it with another sponge, this one was more prickly and rough.

"That should do the trick." She said before laying it out on the floor to dry.

She scrubbed me over one more time before washing the soap suds off with the hose. She wiped the water off with a rag and even used a hair dryer to dry off my interior!

She wiped her hands and stepped back. "All done." She said cheerfully. Eve placed her hands on her hips and gazed at the results of her job proudly despite half her shirt being soaked.

I transformed back and admired my finish. Eve did a great job, I felt amazing and so relaxed! If anything, my finish was almost reflective! It was like I was a new bot!

Evelyn took out a mirror and I admired my finish. "Okay, I could get used to this." I said.

"I'm not your personal car washer thank you very much." Eve said. "But, it was nice."

"Definitely. You're awesome." I said honestly.

I noticed a dust of pink on her cheeks at that. "Thanks, you're a pretty awesome bot too." She said.

For a while we just stared at each other and blushed when we realized we were doing so before looking away.

"Um....I-I think your floor mats should be dry in a couple of minutes." Eve said awkwardly.

"Yeah....um....thanks for getting the stain off for me." I replied.

"Yeah.....Smokes, could you transform for a moment? I want to give you something else." Eve said.

"Sure." I said and transformed back into my alt-mode.

Eve climbed inside and hung something on my rear view mirror. I saw that it was a keychain. The keychain was beautiful; it was a pair of blue angel wings with a small piece of flat metal with the words 'I CAN' engraved on them.

There was also another, this on only had one angel wing made of metal with a round piece attached to it with a message engraved on it, 'Be safe, I need you here with me' in intricate calligraphy.

"I figured it was the perfect gift for my guardian angel." Eve said and smiled that beautiful smile I've come to enjoy seeing so much.

I felt my hood heat up a bit. "Thank you, Eve. I'll treasure this forever." I said.

I transformed back and Eve and I just....stared at each other for a while and I couldn't help but notice how warm and comforting her brown eyes were to gaze at before we turned away and gave each other sideways awkward smiles. Oh god, why was this so weird all of a sudden?! And why is my faceplate red?! Why was I heating up so bad?! Were my internal temperature regulators damaged?

Then we heard a sound of a camera snapping and turned around to see Miko standing there with her phone and what human's would call, a sh!t eating smirk on her face.

Oh boy.

Third person's p.o.v

Miko was squealing on the inside. 'Oh my god this is just too adorable!' she thought as she observed her cousin and her guardian Autobot. 'I so ship them.' Was the only thing she could think of.

Miko wasn't stupid. Sure, her grades weren't the best but you'd have to be a real brainless idiot to not see what was going on. She could already tell from the first time they met at the abandoned warehouse that Smokescreen had already begun to develop feelings for her cousin, Evelyn.

The way they talked, the occasional blushes and she did not miss the quick kiss she'd given him on the cheek yesterday.

And now she had this, it was bonafide A grade blackmail material.

"Sorry, was I interrupting you two lovebirds~?" Miko teased.

They spluttered and squawked indignantly at the comment, their blushes deepening.

"What in the name of Einstein are you talking about?!" Evelyn asked a bit too quickly and loudly.

"S-she was just giving me a car wash." Smokescreen defended.

"Riiiiiiight." Miko said unconvinced.

"Miko, I swear to god if you whisper one word about this I will use you as a dummy for Taekwondo." Evelyn said. "Now, hand me the phone." She said.

Miko thought about it and at the same time, slowly used her leg to push a nearby wet sponge into her hand behind her back.

"Fine but come here, I hafta tell you something." Miko said.

Evelyn frowned. "What is-" she was cut off as Miko threw the sponge at her face, sending water and soap into her eyes and soap suds in her hair.

Miko laughed at her cousin as the sponge slowly slid down.

"Ooooh, so that's how you wanna play it, eh?" Evelyn said as she took up a sponge and hurled it at Miko. Her cousin's laughs were cut off as the sponge smacked her right smack in the face, causing soapy water to go down her throat. Miko splutter and her laughs were replaced with coughs.

"Oh, bullseye!" Smokescreen said.

"Okay, now it's on." Miko said.

The next thing they knew, they were hurling sponges and splashing water at each other across the room while yelling random battle cries as a war waged on.

Smokescreen smartly stayed away from the crossfire and observed from the doorway.

"What's going on in there?" Jack asked. Him and Raf had gotten worried when the two girls hadn't come back yet and came to investigate.

"A war." Smokescreen said.

Raf poked his head out and took a peek at the wet mess Miko and Evelyn were creating. "Ratchet isn't going to be happy." He said.

Jack sighed. "Miko, Eve, c'mon you guys are better than this." He said and....stepped out. Big mistake.

Evelyn had just turned the hose on and Jack got in the way, causing himself to get drenched in a mini wave of water.

Jack spat some water out and looked at Evelyn through his dripping wet bangs. "Okay, it is so on!" he said before seizing a sponge and hurling it at Evelyn.

Resolve things maturely and peacefully? Who dat? Jack don't know her.

"Hey it was an accident!" Evelyn defended. "Raf, help a mate out would cha?!"

"Um...I don't know." Raf said before a wet rag smacked into his face and a sponge.

"Oppsie." Miko said who had misaimed. "Um....sumimasen?" she said with a nervous chuckle.

Raf calmly adjusted his glasses. "You brought this onto yourself." He said before hurling wet sponges with a battle cry.

They all couldn't help but laugh and cry out in happiness as they hurled sponges and wet rags across the room in 'war'.

:What's going on in there?!: Bumblebee asked as he heard the commotion.

Smokescreen was slightly startled at the scout's silent approach.

"A war." Smokescreen deadpanned. "One you and I should try to stay out of."

Bumblebee agreed and observed the 'war' waging on beside Smokescreen.

:Go Raf!: he cheered for his human buddy.

"Go get em' Eve!" Smokescreen cheered.

"Eve, look out!" Raf tackled Eve out of the way of a wet rag.

"Have a taste of your own medicine!" Evelyn yelled and hurled the wet rag back with all her might.

"Look out!" Jack put himself in front of Miko and got hit instead. He flopped onto the ground dramatically. "I'm dead...she got me...leave me, you gotta win this....." he groaned thearetically.

"Nooooo Jack, don't leave me!" Miko said theatrically with fake tears.

:RIP Jack.: Bumblebee said and lowered his helm in respect.

"He was a brave soldier, I salute him." Smokescreen said and gave Jack a salute to honor his 'death'.

Soon, the entire floor was wet, the walls were dripping and so were they. They panted before eventually surrendering and sat down.

"That...*huff* was fun." Evelyn said and she shook her head as she chuckled, sending water spraying.

"That totally rocked!" Miko said excitedly with pumped fists.

"Eve's right, that really was pretty cool." Raf said.

"Yeah, so who won?" Jack asked.

"Raf and I, obviously." Evelyn said.

"Oh really?" Jack asked with a challenging tone in his voice.

"Uh, duh." Evelyn said.

"We did get more hits than you." Raf said.

"That's true. As a witness to this war, I can testify that fact." Smokescreen said.

:They also 'killed' Jack.: Bumblebee added.

"Oh hush, you guys didn't even help." Jack said.

"But I got the first hit." Miko said.

"Did you get the last hit?" Evelyn asked.

"Yes, I did." Miko said.

"No, you didn't." Evelyn said.

"I did."

"You didn't."

"I did."

"Did not."

"Did do."

"Did not.

"Di-"

"What in the AllSpark happened in here?!"

They stiffened and slowly turned around to see....a very unhappy Ratchet with a stoic as ever Optimus standing there as well.

Scrap.

Ratchet looked at the room in horror. The five children were dripping wet; their clothes were thoroughly soaked and their hair was dripping water like a leaky faucet with soap suds in their hair, the entire floor was wet, there were splashes of water and bubbles on the walls and a sponge was still slowly sliding down from it, he could even see small bubbles in the air!

"Um....funny story." Evelyn said with a nervous chuckle.

"Long story..." Miko said.

Optimus's face was as stoic as ever making it hard to read him. The Autobot leader took in the wet room to the wet children to the two members of his team who had simply watched from the sidelines. He simply raised an optic ridge.

For Ratchet, the words calm and patience had gotten thrown out the window.

"I thought I told you and Smokescreen quite clearly....." Ratchet began quietly, his tone even. "TO NOT MAKE A MESS!" he bellowed so loud their hair flew back and the remaining soap suds were blown off.

"Sorry Ratchet." Raf apologized.

"We got a little carried away." Jack said and rubbed his neck guiltily.

"We'll clean this up." Evelyn said.

"I'll fetch the mop." Miko said and ran off to get cleaning supplies.

"Sorry, guess I shouldn't have just watched from the sidelines either." Smokescreen said.

Bumblebee beeped an apology and his door wings lowered in shame.

Optimus's gaze softened, Ratchet noted that he even seemed a bit amused by the mess they made. "It's alright, no harm was done." He said. "However, you have to take responsibility for your actions and clean this mess up yourselves." He said a bit more sternly. "Same goes for the two of you." He directed to the two younger Autobots.

"Awwwwww." Smokescreen said as his shoulders and door wings drooped. Bumblebee groaned, or whirred in this case, too as his door wings and shoulders drooped but they didn't complain.

"I'll get the mop." Smokescreen said.

:I'll get the cloth.: Bumblebee said/beeped.

They trudged off with a small pout like children who just received a scolding for doodling on the walls.

"But I am curious to know, just what exactly happened in here?" Optimus asked.

"A rad water fight! That's what." Miko said as she briefly paused mopping the floor.

"A water fight?" Optimus asked in alarm then kneeled down and looked at them in concern. "Why was there a dispute among you? Are you certain none of you got hurt in this fight?" he asked seriously.

"What no, Optimus! It wasn't that kind of fight." Jack said while waving his hands as though to wave away the misunderstanding.

"You misunderstand, it was a friendly fight. You know, light sparring." Evelyn said and lightly punched Miko's arm for emphasis.

"It's just called a water 'fight' to make it sound cooler." Raf added.

Understanding dawned in the Autobot leader's optics. "I see....." he said.

"Well fun or no I want this room cleaned up in three hours or the rest of you can forget about getting a bridge home." Ratchet said.

"Hey! That's neglect! You also can't keep us here just like that, we have rights!" Evelyn said as she pointed the mop at him as though she planned on using it as a weapon.

Jack and Raf hoped that wasn't the plan.

"Yeah man, that's so not cool." Miko said and crossed her arms over her chest.

"No need to be so harsh, Old friend." Optimus butted in. "They simply got carried away while they were 'in the moment'." He added using an Earth phrase he had heard. He found he liked it.

"A water fight...." he muttered to himself. "That does sound intriguing and fun. Perhaps we should try it sometime." Optimus suggested.

"Slag yeah!" Smokescreen agreed. Bumblebee beeped and nodded his helm in agreement.

"Pfft, as if I have time for such childish games." Ratchet scoffed and turned away. Though deep deep down, he admittedly was a bit tempted to try it as well since it seemed so...'fun'.

Three hours of mopping, wiping and scrubbing later, the room was more or less dry, as were Miko, Jack, Raf and Evelyn.

Their clothes were damp but at least they weren't dripping wet.

"How are we going to explain this to our hosts?" Evelyn asked gesturing to her damp clothes.

"We won't have to if we don't go back." Miko said as an excited grin came to her mouth.

"What do you mean?" Raf asked.

"Sleepover!" Miko said spreading her arms out. "Whaddaya guys think?"

".......Well since the doc just banned us from our transportation, why not?" Evelyn said.

"What will your parents think?" Jack asked.

"We'll just give them a ring." Miko said waving his worries off.

"I think it's a pretty good idea and that's saying something coming from Miko." Raf said. Deep down, he was excited; he hasn't really been to a sleepover before.

"Sweet!" Miko said. "I'll give my host parents a call." She said before going off to find a signal.

"I'll give Ed and Aunt Selina a ring as well." Evelyn putting the mop against the wall before leaving.

Raf and Jack took off the outer layers of their clothes to dry a bit before making their own phone calls.

They left their messages which left the next step.

Convincing the bots.
