|6|Unheard Countdown|
~O~
First floor, lobby...
Mineta was sitting on the couch in a fetal position desperately looking at the hallway that led to the row of elevators, eyes widened and teeth clattering in fear.
"Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Please don't kill me. Come on, Midoriya, we're friends, right? Friends don't kill each other. Please don't kill me. I don't wanna die. I'm still a virgin. Please don't kill me." He mumbled to no one.
He was alone in the lobby, anxiously waiting for literally anyone to come through that hallway. Even if it would be Bakugou, he'd hug him and thank him for being there.
Because, hey listen,
Bakugou talking about murder is funny.
Villains talking about murder is reasonable.
But Midoriya talking about murder is straight up terrifying.
And the little pervert did not want to see the green haired boy's dark side. Actually, nobody he knew wanted to see his dark side. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nop—!
"We're back!"
Mineta practically jumped out of his seat, tears streaming down his face.
"OH MY GOD DID ANYONE DIE!?!!" The pervert screamed.
"....N-No?"
Iida sounded like he was questioning the situation rather answering about it.
"OH THANK GOD WHO MADE SEXY WOMEN!!"
Maybe a murderer should have broke in.
~O~
Now that all nineteen students had arrived and settled down in the lobby after their most recent 'search party', it was time for them to once more talk about the situation and update each other on the things they've found.
"Starting from the fourth floor's group," Iida stood up, "I believe we found a lot of things that could help us. For example; our hero costumes, casual clothing and some other belongings were locked in the ten rooms Yaoyorozu talked about earlier."
"And from that I was able to tell that we were sent here for some form of work study by UA. As far as I think, for more than week. Maybe twelve days or so. However, I can't remember anything else correctly." Todoroki added on.
"Taking up from that," Asui spoke, "Earlier, Ochaco remembered that we're in Yokohama city. I think about half an hour away from Musutafu, ribbit."
Uraraka clenched the corners of her shirt.
'Ten...' Thought the green head who was hiding from their sight.
"Woah really? That's kinda helpful." Sero said, "Unfortunately, we didn't find anything that could help. Except gas bombs in the AC vents."
"Gas bombs? Was that what knocked us out?" Sato asked.
No... Uraraka looked down.
Bakugou, Kirishima and Kaminari were awfully quiet.
"They can't be the reason of our unconsciousness or loss of memory," Yaoyorozu said, "I can easily make enough gas masks for all of us."
"Then, perhaps, the 'person' — whoever it was — didn't know about our quirks?" Iida stated.
"Well, news flash; the 'person' is Midoriya and he knows more than enough about all of our quirks." Jirou replied.
"He wouldn't underestimate Yaomomo if anything. That's dumb." Hagakure said.
"But, we're not completely sure that it was Midoriya." Ashido said and mostly everyone looked at her for an explanation.
She continued, "We met him on the thirteenth floor... And he said that he doesn't remember anything either..."
"How did you even get him to tell you that? I couldn't even move when he was here." Ojiro asked, scratching his head.
"He came to us himself! He said that he was gonna help us and then he said we're playing truth. He also said we'll die if we lied! It was his turn, so asked him about that." Ashido replied.
"He could be lying for all we know!!" Mineta cried.
"I dunno about that. He looked and sounded pretty sincere, ribbit." Asui added on, supporting Ashido's statement.
"A-And there was also this one thing..." Uraraka uttered, "He said... He said he was scared of something... But he didn't say what."
"He was scared of something...?" Todoroki questioningly repeated.
'Nine...'
Uraraka nodded, "Hm."
"Hey, but, what is Midoriya scared of though?" Sero asked. He turned to Bakugou, "You know anything about...?" He trailed off once he realized how quiet the trio was.
Everyone turned to look at them.
"...You guys okay? What happened...?" They asked.
"Massacre."
"E-Excuse me!?"
Bakugou exclaimed, "A fucking massacre is what happened!! They're all dead!! Every citizen who was in this building died in cold blood!! Some fucker went on a rampage and killed innocent people and we fucking didn't do anything about it!!"
'Eight...'
Everyone else just stared down in silence.
He was joking, right?
Bakugou's gotta be joking right now...
...
... Right?
People actually died when they were here?
A massacre?
Who? Just who would do such a thing?
...
...
... It wasn't Midoriya.
It couldn't be Midoriya.
No. This was going too far. It couldn't be Midoriya. It was probably some other psychopathic villain or a bunch of them. Midoriya wouldn't kill anyone. That's just ridiculous... Right? He wouldn't actually do it, right!? This was just some stupid joke, right!? This couldn't actually be happening right now!! This had to be just a stupid nightmare they were stuck in!!
There's no way in hell... There's no way...
"Hey, Uraraka," Kirishima stated, his figure shaking, "You said that Midoriya was scared of something, right...?"
"Huh? Y-Yes? Why?" Uraraka asked.
"What if... What if he was scared of murdering the—!"
"Are you crazy!?" Iida exclaimed, cutting him off. "You don't actually believe Midoriya would kill someone, right!?"
'Seven...'
"B-But listen. It only makes sense... What if someone forced him to do it? What if he had no other choice? What if he was the traitor and some villains told him to kill off people!? What if we're his next targets!? You can't just sit around with all those possibilities and tell me Midoriya wouldn't kill!! He has already mentioned killing us more than once, Iida!! More than once!! It's the only logical possibility!!" Kirishima exclaimed in reply.
Iida remained silent. Lost for words.
His friend couldn't actually be the traitor...
He couldn't believe it. He wouldn't believe it. Just why in the world would a guy like Midoriya do anything like this?
.... Was everything a facade until now?
Were all those times spent with the green head just a lie?
"Listen, I don't want to believe it either. Midoriya's my friend too and I see him as one of the manliest people I know. But look at where we are standing, Iida! He won't let us out, he threatened to kill Ashido's group too. What other conclusion do we get from that?!" Kirishima said, clenching his fists, "I just... I just don't want to see another dead person... Especially not any of you guys... I still want to believe in him... But I-I don't want to risk anyone's life..."
'Six...'
There was another moment of silence.
Iida did want to say anything, something that would prove Midoriya's innocence. But, unfortunately, he had nothing...
Uraraka too wanted to say he was wrong and Midoriya's not the killer... But would they really believe her if she told them that she remembered almost everything? She decided not to speak of it as she herself wasn't sure of her facts. She didn't if what she was thinking was even right or wrong. She needed to do some further research on the situation before bringing up her theory of what happened.
"We will..." Yaoyorozu said, breaking the silence, "We will keep that possibility in mind... Thank you for sharing that, Kirishima..."
"Let's... Talk about something else," Todoroki said. He just didn't want to hear another word about how his friend was a murderer and they were all going to die by his hands.
"Well, the fourteenth floor was just a big kitchen and some eating place... There was nothing wrong there..." Ojiro stated.
"Roof's sealed off on the top floor. There was another locked room for staff though... I doubt it could be of help anyways..." Hagakure said.
"Thats all... That's all the floors... What do we do know? I still can't remember a thing!" Kaminari exclaimed.
'Five...'
"There has to be something we've missed! You all did check every floor, right?" Jirou asked to which the other replied nodding.
What did they leave?
As far as they know, nothing.
All fifteen floors; checked.
What do they do now?
What were they missing?
What more exactly was there to look fo—!
Bakugou felt a chill run down his spine.
He felt a tap on his shoulder by a familiar scarred hand.
"You've been going up, up, up. But what about down...?" Midoriya whispered in the ash blonde's ear.
Bakugou only turned his head around to see the green head was no longer there.
"Everything okay, Bakugou?" Ashido asked.
Did they not see Midoriya?
"Oi, is there anything underground?" Bakugou asked.
'Four...'
"Um, there's a parking lot, I think." Sato replied.
Bakugou folded his arms, "Anyone checked it?"
"N-No." The rest replied.
"We need to check it." Bakugou said, standing up from his seat, "Now."
"And what will we find in a parking lot?!" Mineta exclaimed, still trembling. "If anything we'll just find more dead bodies!! Possibly the murderer!! I am not going down there!! I do not wanna die a vir—!"
"Dude, have you considered calming down a bit?" Sero taped his mouth.
"Anyways, Bakugou's right. We should head down there." Iida said.
Uraraka sighed, "... I don't think that's a good idea. I have a horrible feeling about this..."
"Why not? If anything it'll be beneficial to the situation." Asui said, "Plus, I have a feeling that whatever we're looking for is down there, ribbit. Isn't that good?"
"You're just saying that because you were the first one to go down!!" Uraraka blurted out.
'Three...'
"Wh-What...?" Asui looked confused.
And so did everyone else.
"Ochaco, how do you—?"
"I, uh, I remember the order in which we were knocked out. I was the last one..." Uraraka replied, looking down.
Iida asked, "Do you remember anything else? Specifically, about the parking lot?"
"N-Not sure if what I know is right—!"
"Then shouldn't that mean we have to go down there?" Bakugou stated.
"I-I—!" Uraraka said, "Fine then..."
They were probably going to regret it.
~O~
Now stepping out of the elevators, Class-1-A, minus Midoriya, walked into the parking lot.
Everything looked completely normal for a parking lot. It was quiet, there were a few cars and no one else was there.
'Two...'
It was completely normal.
Until Uraraka's eyes fell on what she was looking for in a corner behind a car.
She immediately stepped back.
'One.'
She screamed, falling back. Everyone quickly stopped whatever they were doing and rushed to her. She was trembling and tears rested in her eyes.
"Uraraka, what's wrong!?"
"I-I... I—!"
"You what?!"
"I-I remember now..."
'Game over.'
