Chapter 10
The next few days, Fallon spent most of her time in Lloyd's room to make sure he didn't feel alone. She brought food up to him and made sure she helped him stand up to go to the bathroom, she even drew him a bath!
With all of this going on, Chris couldn't help but feel a sick emotion boiling at the bottom of his stomach. Was he sick? No, he couldn't be sick... He takes care of his health for the most part. Then why when he looked at Fallon entering Lloyd's room; did he feel sick? He noticed his fists would be clenched whenever he walked by and saw how close they were, but why? He loves his younger brother and he was trying to form some sort of relationship with Fallon, why did it come so easy to his younger brother?
"Hey," Chris stopped Fallon from heading downstairs, she stopped and turned to him and he couldn't help but notice the small smile she had, dropped as she turned to stare at him.
"Hi, boss," She held the tray of food in her hands. "Did you need something from me?"
"I- Uh," He stammered scratching the back of his neck to the nickname, he felt a bit hurt that she thought he needed something from her rather than wanting to just talk. "What are you doing?"
"Oh," She nodded looking at the tray in her hands. "I'm just going to take these dishes down to the maids to wash, Lloyd just finished his lunch."
"Good, that's good," He nodded along with her before digging one of his hands into his pant pocket. "You know you don't have to keep staying by his side, okay? He can manage."
"It's funny," Fallon chuckled looking back at him. "Lloyd said the same thing."
Chris tilted his head to the side in confusion as she carried on walking down the stairs carefully with the tray in her hands, she just walked away with no care it was like she wanted to end the conversation as quickly as possible.
"Wait!" Chris ran quickly behind her but she remained calm and collected, she tried to walk towards the kitchen but he quickly took her tray. "I can give this to the maids!"
"If you insist?" Fallon turned quickly around to walk towards the stairs but Chris whipped around as well, this girl wanted to spend another full day aiding his brother.
"As your superior I demand you to stay by me right now," He raised his voice making her stop in her tracks, she slowly turned around to look at him with a bored expression.
"Yes, boss?" She answered crossing her arms, she thought it was hard to take him seriously when he was holding a tray of dirty dishes.
"My name is Chris-"
"Everyone else calls you boss so why can't I?" She had scrunched her eyebrows so hard that Chris immediately called staff in to take the tray from his hands. "Why do you need to talk to me? What is this really about?"
"I heard what you told Myles," He replied quickly and toughened up his stance. "I don't think giving him your so-called advice is going to help all of us, you're new and you don't know everything that's gone into this group for us to succeed."
"Ah," She blinked away some emotion that was to appear on her face. "I see, well I'm sorry for overstepping I'll make sure I won't give my input on how things are run here."
"Don't give Myles a hard time, he's a good worker and we really don't need others straining his brain," Chris regretted his words, but seeing as she held no emotion when she spoke to him he felt the need to assert his dominance. "If you have any ideas, you have to run it through me first."
"Got it, captain," She placed a fake smile on her face before heading up the stairs, it was almost as if she was dragging herself up.
Seeing her walk away made Chris hate himself, why did he have to do that? He didn't mean to say that and he didn't know why that came out of his mouth. He recalled the conversation he had with Myles about her, he thought she was extraordinary and smart...
He knew with her ideas the missions would be able to run smoother but suddenly here comes his attitude and the feeling to ruin every good thing in his life... It was so hard to pinpoint why he felt the need to separate the two but he knew that with his brother around, she didn't see him the way he wanted her to see him.
Someone she could confide in. Someone who didn't switch tones with her all the time.
What a poor way of demonstrating the care he had for her, what a poor way to tell her he wanted to hear all of her ideas and pay attention to her for the entire day. He was too afraid to admit what he felt at this moment was something called jealousy. The 21-year-old was jealous of his brother, even if he couldn't admit that's exactly what it was. Why did she choose Lloyd over him? Was he not as enticing as he'd been told? Ladies were lining up all the time whenever he'd go to clubs to party with the members, maybe going to the club was just it. If he had ladies line up after Lloyd then maybe she would stray away from him!
That's when Chris decided he would do just that, it was a stretch but maybe she could finally spend more time with him.
"Boys," He spoke into his phone. "We're going clubbing."
* * *
Fallon stood in her room staring at the three options in her closet, she couldn't understand why they wanted to go clubbing. Ever since Liam skipped to Lloyd's room to tell them the news, she couldn't help but think how crazy Chris was to suggest that. She wasn't even legally able to drink but Lloyd told her Chris had a way of making sure everyone was allowed in, perhaps being in a gang taken more seriously than the police.
"This one?" She picked a long black dress that was revealing and she knew this wasn't her style at all, but the other dresses were even more revealing than this one. It was almost like all the women in this industry had to dress like this to be in it, it was shocking to her and she knew she couldn't complain to her boss.
She finished putting the dress on and applied a light face of makeup, the only thing she ever learned was how to put on foundation, mascara, and some blush. Putting it on gave her a faint memory of her mother who taught her how to use it, her mother was gentle and explained each step to her so that one day she wouldn't need her anymore.
She finished her look with some red lipstick from the brand that her mother loved, it was a comfort for her to wear that shade. She looked at herself in the mirror and nodded with an approving look, her mother would've been proud she was finally getting out of the house and going to socialize. She remembered all those times her mother pushed her to hang out with other girls and her mother's work friends, how she begged her daughter to go out and have fun!
Now, Fallon stood there all pretty ready to go to a club... took her long enough.
"Wish me luck," She whispered at the urn on her table, she picked up her small black purse and walked out to the stairs where she was met with all the boys except Chris.
"Woah!" Lloyd's eyes widened and he clapped his hands, whistles erupted from the other boys. "You look smoking, Lonnie!"
She felt a blush creep onto her cheeks, it was like her body was on fire from all the stares and she felt a bit uncomfortable. She wanted so badly for them to turn the other way and Lloyd started to get the message so he put his arm around her and forced the other boys to head downstairs.
"Sorry, Lonnie," He said sheepishly and ran his fingers through his hair, Fallon took this time to acknowledge what he was wearing. A suit and tie, and his hair was nicely combed and gelled back, she was worried he would fall but he was walking pretty fine it was just the arm sling that made me snort a bit.
"How are you going to go clubbing with an injured arm?" Fallon frowned.
"I'm fine, I promise," Lloyd chuckled before leading her downstairs. "You look beautiful, you should know that."
"Thanks," She looked down before turning to him, trying to hide the blush on her cheeks. "You look nice, I didn't know you could fix yourself up like that."
"What's that supposed to mean!" He pouted making her laugh, it was always great to hear her laugh. Lloyd always wanted to earn laughs from her, it was the only goal he was striving towards since she rarely joked around.
As they made it to the the final step, Chris was waiting, and the way he slowly turned to look at the girl anyone could tell he was holding himself back. He thought she was gorgeous, the most ethereal girl he placed his eyes on and all he wanted to do was help her into the car. He didn't know she fixed up nicely because she had never worn any dresses or makeup in her time there, she still had this pull to her even without those features but this was something he couldn't resist.
He was fighting himself in his thoughts, and when she looked at him she couldn't help but feel a heat wave hit her face. He was hot, she could try to deny it but in the back of her mind, she felt herself being drawn to him. His black hair was styled nicely with some hairspray and his suit was nicely designed, she could practically smell the cologne radiating off of his body- It was neither too strong nor too soft. She had never felt this feeling before- Wait, that was a lie- She felt that same feeling the day she met him.
"Fallon," Chris snapped her out of her thoughts, she blinked quite a few times before looking around. "You'll be sitting next to me on the passenger side."
"You're driving?" She crossed her arms.
"Yes, is there a problem?" He raised an eyebrow, the admiration each had for each other was stopped by their ongoing attitude towards each other. Maybe, if they learned to get along they could share more than just admiration towards each other.
"No, I guess we should get going," She walked towards the front door with the boys following after her, each boy except the brother held a smirk on their faces. One would think that they all knew but the brothers, maybe it was the age gap that made them more knowledgeable than the boys.
Or maybe, one of the brothers was starting to catch on...
