CHAPTER 61

Writer's POV:-

Everybody stared at Mayank in shock, and most of it was prominent on Diksha's face. She gaped unbelievably not knowing how to react.

"What do you mean, Mayank?" Mrinal asked in a serious tone.

"That we can't stay here anymore after..." before he could complete his Vidyut interrupted him.

"No Uncle, you can't leave. You can't take my Bhabhi away from my Bhaiya. How can you even think of separating them?" He shook his head vigorously and moved to Diksha.

Mayank tried to speak but was again interrupted by Vidyut.

"But, it's needed to..."

"Bilkul nahi uncle (no at all, uncle), I won't let you do this. At least Bhabhi ka to sochiye (at least think about Bhabhi)... How can you do this even after knowing everything? Aunty, at least you make him understand." Vidyut hurriedly said and looked at Annapurna who was just looking at his panicked state.

Ye aaj bolne nahi dega kisi ko! (He won't let anyone speak today)!*Giggles*

Diksha didn't know how to react to the things happening. She just looked at her father and Vidyut turn by turn.

"But, beta..."

Vidyut was going to interrupt him again when Mrinal scolded him.

"Vidyut let him speak first. You aren't letting him complete his sentence. You must know the matter before reacting this way."

"But uncle, wo keh rahe wo le jayenge... (he is saying that he will take...)"

Vidyut tried to object again but, this time Mayank interrupted him.

"Sirf tumhari aunty ko (Just your aunty)... And not Diksha." Mayank completed his sentence and chuckled, shaking his head at Vidyut's impatient behaviour.

"What do you mean, papa?" Diksha asked, frowning at her father.

"Means, I and your mother need to go back now. I received an email last night stating my non-paid leave is over and I need to report in two days." Mayank added, clearing the confusion for everyone.

And, indeed, everybody sighed in relaxation after knowing the actual reason.

"Ohh... I see..." Vidyut couldn't say anything more than this as he was turning red in embarrassment.

How can I be so stupid? He mentally scoffed at himself.

"Haan beta... koi tumhare bhaiya bhabhi ko alag nahi kar raha (yes, son, nobody's separating your bhaiya and bhabhi)." Annapurna teased him and he felt his behaviour more embarrassing.

"Nahi, I was just..." he licked his lips, trying to form some sensible sentence concealing his stupidly embarrassed state.

"Yeah, yeah we understand, you were worried for your bhaiya that you think we are going to separate them... be rest assured, son, we would never do so. They are too precious for us to think of doing any such thing to them." Mayank said and the parents chuckled looking at Vidyut scratching his head.

"I'll be back in a while!" Saying so, Vidyut almost ran out of there, hiding his embarrassment. Everyone chuckled at his childishness.

Diksha was looking at everything and she thanked God for some unknown thing. She internally felt happy for how Vidyut behaved, getting worried for them.

"So, we need to leave tonight only." Mayank's voice caught her attention and her mood turned sad hearing the news. She looked down feeling low

She didn't know when her eyes welled up and a tear rolled down her cheek.

"Beta, are you crying?" Krishna noticed her slumped shoulders and slight sniffing as she sobbed silently.

Mayank and Annapurna immediately took her in a hug, understanding her inner turmoil. They too turned emotional at the thought of leaving their only child here.

"Ssshhh... don't cry, bache." Mayank caressed her head while consoling her sad daughter. He too had tears in his eyes as it was the first time that his daughter, whom he loves more than his life, would be away from him.

No words can describe a father's pain in being away from his only daughter!

"Don't cry, beta. And, why are you crying when it will be your exams and you have to come in two months, right?" Annapurna said, wiping her daughter's cheeks. Though she was consoling her, she herself was crying internally for leaving her daughter.

Maa ka dil Kahan manta hai! (A mother's heart is never at ease)

"This is not fair, Krishna!" Mrinal spoke up suddenly, in between their emotional conversation.

Others looked at him, getting confused at his statement.

"What's not fair?" Krishna asked, creasing her forehead.

"This. Our doll is crying because she has to live here. She isn't happy to live with us. I thought she loved us. But, I'm hurt." Feigning a sad look, Mrinal said. His words made Diksha silent. She shook her head before replying.

"There's nothing like that, Papa!" She said, denying his assumptions.

"It is like that only. That's why you're crying." Mrinal turned her head to the other side, showing how hurt he is.

"Maa, aap to samjhayi unhe... (at least you make him understand)." She pleaded to Krishna who was trying to hide the smile.

"Kya samjhau jab wo bilkul theek bol rahe hai (what shall I make him understand when what he is saying is correct). You are not happy to live with us, that's why you cried." Krishna joined Mrinal in his fake hurt display. They tried to divert Diksha's mind and succeeded.

"It's nothing like that, Maa-Papa. Please understand." She shook her head in desperation, trying to convince her that there's nothing like what they were thinking.

"Okay, if you're saying so. But, for that, you have to stop crying. Then only we will believe, right Krishna?" Mrinal said,

"Exactly!" She exclaimed in agreement.

Mayank and Annapurna looked at them, and the love they had for Diksha. The parents were content as their daughter was going to the best family they could ever find. Annapurna and Mayank smiled looking at each other, conveying their happiness through their eyes.

"See, they are getting sad, now stop crying, mera bacha (my child)," Mayank said, and wiped the last trail of her tears.

"Okay, I'm not crying anymore." Said Diksha,

"Hmm... that's like my daughter! Now, go and see whether Aakarsh is up or not." Annapurna said, and Diksha left obeying her words.

As soon as Diksha left the place Mayank turned towards Krishna and Mrinal.

"Although I know I don't need to say this, still I'm saying. Please take care of her. She has never stayed away from us, to ye uske liye thoda mushkil hone wala hai (so, it will be a little tough for her)." He almost pleaded.

A father is always worried but it increases tenfold when he is the father of a daughter who is a single child!

Annapurna, too, looked at them with a pleading look.

"Ye to koi bolne wali baat hi nahi... aap log bhul gaye hain to main Yaad dila dun ki gudiya sirf aapki beti nahi hai, humari bhi hai! (This is not a thing to say... If you guys have forgotten, then let me tell you that doll is not only your daughter, she is ours too!)" Mrinal said, shaking his head.

"And, you guys just rest assured. We are here for her, every minute." Krishna assured them.

"We know that... thank you so much!" The parents replied humbly smiling and Krishna and Mrinal denied them to say so.

Writer's POV:-

Neev has come to meet Aakarsh as Aakarsh had asked him to not come yesterday but today as he would be a little fine to meet him. Diksha had just gone down to bring his breakfast after waking him up as Neev came. Now, he, Aakarsh, and Vidyut are sitting together in Aakarsh's room, having a serious discussion.

"He is the important link, Neev Bhai, as he knew before the blast," Vidyut replied to Neev when he asked about the caller.

"But, it's a little weird as how can he have access to Leo or Roger's number?" Neev raised his concern.

"Hmm, but that mystery will be solved only when we get to know the identity of the caller," Aakarsh said,

"I have taken their statements, bhaiya. And have sent the number to get the details about the person who called." Vidyut informed Aakarsh.

"Koi fayda nahi hai (no benefit at all)... do you really think the caller will let us know his identity this easily?" Aakarsh raised his eyebrows.

"But, we can't just sit idly. We need to know his identity as soon as possible, Krish." Neev objected.

"Hmm, I know... pass me my phone," Aakarsh said and pointed towards the table behind Neev.

Neev frowned, but, nevertheless, passed him his phone.

"Here!"

"Whom are you calling, bhaiya?" Vidyut asked, thinning his eyebrows when Aakarsh dialled someone's number. He and Neev share a look when Aakarsh pressed his phone against his ear, without answering them.

"Do you really think you can scare me with this blast?" Aakarsh asked the person as soon as the call was received.

The person said something which made him chuckle.

"I didn't think you were so dumb. You are thinking of it as your victory when in reality it's just another step towards your destruction. Don't be in an illusion that I didn't know what you were planning. I knew everything, from the time you man fitted the bomb in my car till the call my bodyguards received. I just played along with your game without you knowing and see, here I'm collecting the evidence of your crime." Aakarsh laughed at the person.

The person replied something in rage which Neev and Vidyut couldn't hear but they got to know from Aakarsh's reply.

"Ahh, I already knew you won't believe it. Well, how about I give you the description of the man wearing a black cap and blue denim with a yellow t-shirt, planting the bomb near the rear right wheel of my car. And not only that but, he also called you from that very spot." Aakarsh said, smirking confidently, making the person shocked.

"And, now before you speak anything let me tell you, I was just counting on your crimes and this just gave me another reason to destroy you completely. Soon, very soon I will return what you gave to me, with 100% interest, and I swear it on my loved ones. So, now let's begin your countdown like that bomb... 3... 2... 1... boom." Aakarsh smirked, said in a determined voice, that indeed scared the person, before disconnecting the call.

Neev and Vidyut were looking at him with widened eyes in shock. They couldn't believe their ears. Aakarsh knew it all beforehand was just an indigestible fact for them.

"You knew it?" Neev asked, coming out of his shocked state.

"What do you think? Anyone could enter my office premises, do anything and get away with it just like that? Do I look like a fool to you? I knew everything that had happened. And, I know who did it. I just needed the evidence and a chance to destroy them. I got both today." Aakarsh said, still smirking.

"But bhaiya, when you knew why did you even get inside the car?" Vidyut almost shouted.

"Exactly Krish, What was the need to risk your damn life?" Neev asked, getting equally angry at him.

"This was necessary! And, before you ask me another question let me tell you that I would anyway have stopped the car and got out of it with Diksha, but before that she, herself, gave me the reason to stop the car with Leo and Roger gave me another opportunity to make it look real." Aakarsh smirked and picked up the coffee that Diksha had got him when he woke up.

"What do you mean?" Neev and Vidyut asked together.

"Well, you see, the blast was real. I am injured for real. And, what everyone will know is that I survived because of my bodyguards. Now, no one can save the person behind this, from me to take my revenge." Taking a sip of his coffee, Aakarsh replied, broadening his smirk.

"Woah, bhaiya... what are you planning?" Vidyut asked as he sensed some deadly plan going on in Aakarsh's mind.

Keeping his empty cup on the side table, Aakarsh racked his fingers through his hair and smirked again before replying.

"Nothing much, just to return what I got with 100% interest."

❃❃❃❃❃❃

Diksha's POV:-

I was sitting with Aakarsh in his room. He was leaning on the bedpost and I was in front of him. There's still some time for lunch so I thought to inform Aakarsh about my parents' plan of going back.

Though, Mumma - Papa had informed him personally when the parents came to see him after he woke up, still I thought to express my thoughts as he insisted.

"I was feeling so low when Mumma-Papa said that they were going back. Although, it was planned when I came to Delhi for my internship but it just slipped out of my mind as a lot of things happened in between." I paused for a few seconds.

"I came with a 'single' status, but got engaged to you and am going to change my single status to married in two and half months," I added.

"Are you unhappy because we are getting married in such a short time?" Aakarsh asked me, taking my hands in his.

"It's not like I'm not happy. I am! Very much! But just this feeling of living away from my parents scares me! It scares me that I won't be seeing them every morning after waking up and the night before going to bed. It scares me that I would have to wait for some long hours before meeting them. It scares me, Aakarsh." I didn't know when a tear slipped out of my eye and Aakarsh wiped it off.

"First of all, you're not alone... I am with you at every step. And secondly, don't worry about anything I promise I'll fix this before you would even know?" He consoled me, caressing my face and I looked at him in confusion.

"How will you fix this?"

"Do you trust me?" He asked, smilingly.

"It sounds cliché but more than my life!" I replied, shyly.

I don't know how I started getting shy about every small thing related to him.

"Then do trust me!" He said in puzzled words and blinked at me.

Writer's POV:-

It was the time for Mayank and Annapurna's flight and they have strictly denied Diksha to come to the airport as she will again start crying. She tried to convince them, but then agreed as she knew her parents would become emotional too, and she doesn't want to see them crying.

So it's just Mrinal and Krishna going to drop them at the airport with Vidyut.

"Sorry beta, we couldn't stay with you when you are injured. I tried but I can't push my leaves anymore." Mayank said, feeling bad that they have to leave in this situation.

"Papa, don't think like that. I can understand. Moreover, I'm perfectly fine, just don't worry." Aakarsh said, taking Mayank's hands in his.

They all were near the entrance of the mansion and Vidyut was instructing a house staff to load their luggage in the car.

"Take care of yourself, beta. Aur hum intezar karenge humare damad ka. (And, we will be waiting for our son-in-law), right, Mayank?" Annapurna said, caressing his head.

"Absolutely!"

Annapurna's words made him red along with Diksha who looked down in shyness. The parents chuckled looking at the children's flushed face.

"Come on, it's time for the flight," Vidyut said, coming their way.

"Take care of yourself, and everyone else's too. We will call after reaching home." Annapurna said to Diksha and kissed her forehead.

"You too!" Diksha said, controlling her tears. Annapurna nodded and kissed her forehead again. Mayank did the same and they all hugged before getting inside the car.

Diksha and Aakarsh waved at them until their car went away from their sight.
