Chapter 4
May's POV
Today was a good day except the fact that Drew and Paul got in a very bad mess. Paul seemed to be okay though. I assumed that it has something to do with Dawn talking to Paul.
Dawn returned after she went away to find Paul after school. She seemed to be in a good mood and had a dreamy look.
I decided to ask her later.
I thought about Drew. After Paul stormed out of the cafe Drew was dragged away by Brianna. After that he returned in a very horrible mood, kicked Paul out of his room and locked the door. He hasn't come out since then. I started to get worried.
Paul was in Ash's and Gary's room. I went to the door and knocked. Paul opened and let me in. I saw Ash and Gary playing video game. I decided to let them be. I wanted business with Paul.
"May, right?" Paul asked.
I nodded. "Yeah, sorry for bothering. I just wanted to know something."
"Drew, right?" He asked.
I looked a bit surprised. Was it that obvious? Nevertheless I nodded.
"Come with me, we can talk somewhere else." He said. I followed him.
"Paul? Don't do anything stupid too soon. Where are you taking an innocent girl?" Gary hollered.
I went bright red. Paul stalked off and dragged Gary before saying in an eerie voice,
"I am so NOT a pervert like you, you moron. Unlike you, we have business. Get it inside your thick skull."
Gary and I sweat dropped.
"Dude, I was kidding." Gary said
Paul let go and we went to the balcony and leaned against the railing.
Paul started, "Brianna and Ursula are our nightmares. We know them from a very young age. At every business party......."
Paul went on to tell me the whole story. I nodded every now and then in understanding. After he finished I was horrified. How can someone be so clingy? Can't those two tell that Paul and Drew don't like them?
I asked, "Do you think Drew would want to talk to me? I mean, Drew was more upset than you. We don't even know what happened when Brianna took Drew away."
"Dunno, you can give it a shot though. After all, sometimes it's easier to tell a stranger your problems more than the ones who know you. They don't judge unlike your friends or relatives. But don't push him too much." Paul said.
"Thanks for telling me Paul." I said.
He nodded.
I decided to go to Drew. I went and stood outside the door. I felt nervous.
I knocked.
No answer
I counted to ten and knocked again.
This time the door opened. I looked up to see Drew looking a bit surprised. He didn't expect me. His hair was a mess. Looks like he was sleeping. I felt bad but this needed to be sorted out. He has to let it out not bottle up.
He gestured for me to come in. I went and sat down on a chair. An awkward silence stretched. Just as I was coming up to say something, Drew started.
"So......did Paul send you?"
"Nope" I said.
Drew suddenly smirked. That arrogant smirk of his.
"You were worried about me? Well who won't be? After all I am irresistible." He said.
Ugh! This boy is perfectly fine. Why did I worry? But still I said as calmly as possible.
"Paul told me everything and yes I was worried about you. But since you can be a jerk and smirk properly then I don't see why I came here. Bye." I blurted out.
"Wait, wait, sorry I couldn't help it. I really was sour. Sleep helped me though." He said.
I sat down again because I had gotten up to leave.
"You don't have to answer if you don't want to but did Brianna do something....?" I asked.
Drew sighed deeply. "She kissed me."
Drew blurted out suddenly.
I was shocked, "She did WHAT?!"
"You heard it right airhead. And I couldn't do anything. We have business matters among our families."
Airhead? Seriously?
"Ooh, so you went with it. You know, me and the girls can be your friends."
I said. Then I smirked, "After all we saved you the first day, wouldn't harm us to do again."
Drew smirked, "As if."
"You Grasshead, can't you be polite for once? I was only trying to help." I said.
He chuckled, "Calm down airhead. I was kidding. We all can meet and sit together at the cafe tomorrow and thanks."
"So the name's staying then?" I asked.
He smirked again. "Yeah, I love getting on your nerves. Your reactions are the best!!"
"Stupid Grasshead." I murmured.
"Ooh Btw, I saw your handwriting today, you know, you can improve it." He flicked his fringe and said.
That's it.
"Why you..." I yelled. I tackled him to the ground. But Drew was strong. He flipped me to the ground and tickled me.
"St....stop, I....I can't br...breathe." I choked out.
He took pity on me and stopped tickling.
"You should know better airhead, than challenging someone you can't defeat." He arrogantly said.
Suddenly the door opened to reveal Paul standing there.
He stared at us and we stared back.
"...."
"...."
"...."
Suddenly he snapped out of it and closed the door. We remained quiet for sometime, still staring at the closed door. Then suddenly we realized the awkward position we were in. I turned crimson while Drew ran out of the room yelling,
"Wait!! Paul!! It's not what it looks like"
I shook my head and went to my room.
By that time the girls had prepared dinner. Thank God we didn't have any homework. Dawn smirked.
"So....did something happen with prince Charming?"
I shook my head vigorously not trusting to answer in case I stuttered.
Then I smirked back, "You are one to ask Dawn when you had that faraway look all day."
Dawn blushed. We 3 girls looked at each other with a sly grin.
"Spill!" We ordered
"Fine fine, I give in. He asked me to go to the new dessert shop for cake. Happy?" She said when still blushing.
We squealed.
"Wait, it's just a thank you and hangout, nothing more. It's still too early." She quickly added.
"Yeah, yeah." We chorused.
Dawn's POV
The week swirled past and soon it was Sunday. I had already finished whatever homework I had. Currently I am still lying on my bed and thinking what to wear. I noticed the time and decided to get up. I glanced at the mirror and for the first time in a week didn't scream seeing my bedhead. No use of screaming.
Ugh! I hated it. My hair always sticked out everywhere ridiculously.
May was still fast asleep. I went to the bathroom to get ready. It was 9:00 currently.
After I had finished, May entered the bathroom. I sat on my bed to rub my hair with a towel. While I was doing it, I remembered everything that happened past week. The boys and us get along quite well. We are friends now. We always have our meals together. I enjoy seeing the boys being silly, cracking jokes etc.
They really were good friends. Brianna and Ursula decided not to pester us this week for which we were extremely grateful. I didn't wish to go in a bad mood so soon.
I went into the kitchen and helped Misty with breakfast, soon May and Leaf joined us and we ate together happily. Today Paul and I were going out. I was excited and nervous. I hadn't gone out with a boy alone ever. Knowing Paul, he is safe to be around. It hasn't been very long but one would be surprised to see how much I felt safer with Paul. He had that relaxing aura around him which calms me down.
Soon, it was time for me to get ready. The girls helped me pick out a dress. I decided on a midnight blue flowy dress. It was simple but elegant and comfortable. It stopped right above my knee. I decided to leave my hair open nd straightened it. The girls suggested no makeup so I decided with only a bit of foundation and lip gloss. It was plain but I felt nice.
I grew nervous all of a sudden. Sure it was just hangout but still. At 3:00 sharp a knock sounded. Wow...Paul surely is punctual. Knowing him it wasn't a surprise.
I opened the door and blushed a bit. He looked handsome with his jeans and turtleneck black shirt. I bit my lip. Paul stared at me for a while and then gestured for me to follow. I waved goodbye to the girls. May gave a thumbs up and I rolled my eyes.
"You look good" Paul said.
"Thanks, you too" I complimented.
We walked in silence for a while. It was a comfortable silence. After sometime we got engrossed in talking about hobbies and such. Paul was extremely logical. He was a bookworm. He told me about his Brother Reggie. In return I told him about me. I answered his questions and he answered mine.
Soon we reached the shop. It looked do neat and nice and had such a peaceful atmosphere. No wonder Paul chose this place.
An attendant welcomed us while smiling cheerfully. A waitress approached us.
"A table for two" Paul said.
Soon we sat down at a comfortable booth. Another waitress came.
"What can I get for you lovely couple?" She asked.
I turned red while Paul looked annoyed but he answered calmly,
"We are not a couple." He said.
"My apologies then. What can I get for you?"
Paul ordered our drinks and cakes.
"Can't a boy and a girl hangout together without being a couple?" Paul asked.
"Yes, why not. It's just that these places are mostly visited by couples and the teasing is an old habit I guess." I replied.
"That makes sense"
After sometime I picked up my glass of water to drink when suddenly Paul asked,
"Did you have your first kiss?"
I choked and Paul got up un panic and rubbed my back. After I calmed down a bit he went back to his chair.
It was funny to see the calm, collected and composed Paul in a panic.
"Sorry, it was sudden. I shouldn't have asked something personal. I don't know what came over me." He apologized.
"No, it's absolutely fine. And two answer your question, no. I still haven't gotten my first kiss." I said.
He looked a bit surprised for a fraction of second. It was true though, I was in no hurry. I wanted it to be with the right person and I wanted the moment to be special.
Our food arrived and after that we didn't talk much. We finished our desserts and got up. Paul paid the bill and we went outside the cafe.
"Anywhere you want to go Troublesome?" Paul asked.
Wait, what?
"Park would be alright, but can't you forget that name?"
"Nope, it's staying. Besides you ARE troublesome."
"Whatever" I grumbled
We reached the nearby park and sat on a bench. Suddenly I jumped up,
"Got it!! Aubergine!" I said happily.
Paul looked at me as if I was crazy and I smirked.
"It's your new name, Aubergine!" I snickered.
Paul huffed and muttered something under his breath.
"Don't worry I wouldn't call you that in front of everyone, only when we are alone." I assured.
"You better not, troublesome." Paul said.
I laughed and he smiled a little. It was a rare sight.
The day just couldn't get more perfect. I had the time of my life while I am sure Paul had too though he didn't show.
I hope I get to hangout with him again...someday....
Okay so I am sorry to add ikarishipping too much. The main is contestshipping for sure. It's just that I love these two.
