3rd Person POV

The scene opens on the desk at the I.M.P. office where a mission folder is

tossed open on Blitzø's desk to reveal the mission info from the client while Moxxie's voiceover sounds,

TARGET: Paulie Paesano AKA The Gabagool Tool

LOCATION: Caldwell, New Joisey

DESCRIPTION: Mobster son of famous mafia crime boss Luigi Paesano

INFO: Little schmuck whacked me after I caught him skimming our inventory. He has no part in this family and I want him gone and out of the boss' hair for good.

"Sir, are you sure you want me doing this job alone? Was this on purpose?"

"Of course, Mox..."

Before the scene cuts to Blitzø and Millie wearing fishing gear on a rowboat called "Ship Happens" as he announced,

"...cause me and Millie are goin' leeching!"

"I'm gonna harpoon me a ~big ol' leech!~" Millie yelled singsongy as she stuck her giant harpoon into the edge of the boat before pulling it back out for them both to chant excitedly while waving and pumping their tools around enthusiastically,

"LEECH! LEECH! LEECH! LEECH! LEECH!"

Millie adding jovially,

"Still can't believe Ayden wanted to skip out on this!"

The scene changed to said demoness seen sitting on the edge of her bed with her journal in paw as she impatiently tapped her pen against the front cover, which was now sporting an additional title scribbled onto it; "plus Jin memories."

"Phew... c'mon..." She huffed as she entered the number code, 235, to open the journal, flipping through pages with entries in red as well as the occasional other colors in every other entry, each color hinting to correspond to a different sibling's recalled memories, until she made it to the latest entry title written in black ink... "Den memories" that had a few bullet points underneath.

"The'e's gotta be somethin' useful you could give me..." Ayden muttered, her free paw fiddling with Jin's ring on its chain on her chest over her gemstone, "Ya owe us, an' really me, that much..."

When nothing came up, she groaned loudly and slid down to sit on the floor with her back against the bed, her journal and pen still limply in her grip in front of her, resting on her knees, as she muttered,

"Why did ou' bi'th dad hafta suck so much...?"

She huffed while closing her eyes before she felt a tug on her gemstone and some memories and voices were heard rising within her, as well as information she intuited from each memory echo that came up with them.

"I shall call you Einar... for you are the first one-person army that will win acclaim for our entire race... or instill me with the ability to do so myself."

Einar had been mostly drained of his powers, including holy fire manipulation, and his anthropomorphic form at the age of 18, Den attempting to kill him when he failed to fully rob him of his sentience and living in the shadows of his former home, watching the same thing happen to his other half-siblings with little to no ability to stop it...

Fast forward a decade or so, Den had another hybrid baby in his arms, this one was a hellcat and infestor crossbreed, that he looked down on and dubbed "Maris." She was drained at the age of 6 when she was the most docile and was even more so, robbed of most of her sentience, the most she provided Den, power-wise, being the ability to vaguely see into a demon's mindscape...

Another fast forward showed Den with a half hellcat, half imp crossbreed he named Eulises, who he drained at age 13, at the start of demon puberty, which would later contribute to his moodiness and bristly nature, his power of enhanced strength being added to Den's.

After Eulises, Den hardly bothered with naming any of his other "attempts" at a hybrid that would allow him to substantially boost his own powers or be powerful enough to enact his plans... leaving 24 unnamed kids, all at varying ages and stages of their lives with different contributions to Den's powers and strength that reduced their own qualities of life, but all with the same hollow ache where parental love should have been to help with building their identities.

Ayden was seen back to the present, tears welling in her closed eyes and glowing blood starting to drip from her nose at the continuing building resentment towards her birth father and just how little she and her siblings had meant to him, the same siblings who had given their lives and their consciousnesses to save hers and their adoptive family's despite everything they could have lived for.

"What do you think of this one?"

Ayden's eyes snapped open when she heard Moxxie's voice before she took a deep breath, quickly swiped the blood away, and closed her eyes again to allow a new memory to come up; it was late one night, slightly after the whole "Fizz and Blitzø rescue mission," and Moxxie was seen sitting on the couch in the living room with Jin sitting beside him as he scrolled through different websites on his phone with a notebook beside him as well.

"OK what about Dash?"

Jin shook their head and Moxxie began listing off other names,

"Margot, Henry, Sonnet-"

"Mrow!" Jin meowed decisively.

"Sonnet? Good choice!" Moxxie praised as he wrote down the name on the notepad along with other names, names he was helping each of them find from the way he continued,

"OK, how about Blaze?"

"Mrow!"

"Of course." Writing the name down as the memory started to fade to black...

Ayden was seen smiling back in the present with another tear falling from her eye before opening them back up to wipe some more blood away from her nose as her gemstone glowed a bit with the warm feeling spreading throughout her body like a spectral hug that she returned with her paws lightly ghosting over her forearms.

She looked back down at her notebook and smirked a little lopsidedly as she took her pen back up to cross out the "Den memories" heading before closing her journal, deciding to stop looking to a deadbeat for answers when there was someone who'd already shown them what real fatherhood looked like.

"Wonde' how the mission's goin'...?" Ayden wondered, remembering Blitzø talking about sending Moxxie on the next mission solo while he and Millie went "leaching" which she had assumed was Hell's version of fishing, so she had opted out of joining them.

Opening a small portal to Blitzø's office, Ayden reached through to grab the mission file from his desk and frowned with her ears drooping as well as she deadpanned,

"This is the one he decides to send him solo on...?"

Before looking under the photo of the target, who frankly looked like a human version of Moxxie if he were a lot more weaselly and cowardly, to see a photo of the mansion where he resided and put the file back on Blitzø's desk before closing that portal and opening up one leading to the mansion.

Once she hopped through, she sniffed the air, her eyes turning a grayish pink, before following the scent inside through the halls of the mansion until she heard-

"WHAT THE FUCK-ETH WAS THAT?!"

"The'e he is..."

"Those guys were supposed to help ye faketh your death! Ye weren't supposed to really get ye-self MURDERED!"

"I know that! Whaddaya think, I'm a goddamn maroon?" The target, Paulie, whined before explaining in a way that even Ayden could tell had been a gigantic mistake on his part, "I told them an angel sent me and that they'd be meeting the angel soon, a-and they just fucking lost it!"

Sneaking over to the giant angel statue where Moxxie's badly "angel" accented voice was coming from, Ayden listened as she heard him try to devise in an annoyed tone,

"Okay! Oookay, we can still salvage...-eth, this. We needeth a fake passport and a way out of the country."

Right before a door opened to what looked like an office as a portly man, who looked nearly identical to Crimson if he had a human form, spoke grimly with his face mostly obscured by shadows,

"My boy, the Mortadella family wants your head, and I've made them an offer. I'm giving them all the head they could ever want..." His remorseful face was revealed when he said, "Mine..."

"What...?" Moxxie whispered in his regular voice and worried expression before realizing someone was behind him and saw Ayden standing there, startling him, "AH...! How long have you been here...?!"

"Long enough..." Ayden spoke plainly with a matching worried expression as they both turned back to the scene playing out below them as Paulie's father, Luigi, told him,

"Paulie. My son. The seed of my salami. I know I've been hard on you, but... It's because I needed you to be ready for the day that is about to come. Listen to me, boy. I love you more than anything in this world. Family. Is. Everything. I know you've never understood that, but... I need you to, now.. Take care of your mother for me..."

Luigi walked away, preparing to take his son's place on the metaphorical chopping block and Moxxie started tearing up as he realized while sliding to a sit while hugging his knees,

"Is that... how it should've been...?"

Ayden looked like she was about to comfort him when Paulie ruined the moment by yelling up to them,

"Woo-ho-ho, this is great! Hey, angel guy! Saint Fuckass, or whatever! You hear that shit? My old man's gonna be out of the way soon!" Rubbing his hands together plottingly, "I'm gonna be running the show!"

"Ye are supposed to be-eth running away from a life of crime. We made-eth an angel deal!"

"Nah, we never said anything like that! I thought I was just laying low while you whacked him off. Sleep with him til he smells like the fish! You know, uh, killed his ass!"

Both Moxxie and Ayden started to get incensed at Paulie's callousness to his, obviously much more caring than either of their own, father.

Ayden's powers started to manifest around her clenched paws, the flames turning silver as the candles on the altar changed to match as well and Moxxie yelled, still in his "angel" accent,

"Yeeee haaave angered THE ANGEL!!!"

Both of them worked together to push the angel statue over the edge to crash on top of Paulie, leaving him crushed underneath in a puddle of blood as he croaked out weakly with his final breath,

"Gabagool..."

Moxxie hopped down to the ground with Ayden following suit, pausing to perform the litter box move on Paulie's corpse before stumbling a bit as she rapidly blinked her eyes back into focus as the silver candle flames went back to normal, and they both walked away.

Later that night, Luigi and two of his henchmen were outside of his limo, but one of the tires had been slashed as he griped,

"A flat tire, tonight of all nights. What are the odds?"

Before Moxxie appeared with Ayden standing a little ways away, stanced like a bodyguard, both dressed like mafiosos with trench coats and fedoras, Moxxie's gray and Ayden's dark red, as he spoke in a tone that sounded eerily like Crimson's,

"Paulie Paesano is dead. I was never here..."

Before they both walked away in the mist of the night so they could both head home.

Once they arrived back home, Millie had dinner already set out for them and was setting the golden trophy for catching the biggest leech on a shelf along with the picture of her and Blitzø catching it.

After putting them down, Millie noticed that Moxxie was just staring at his leech and Ayden was across the table, watching him with a concerned expression while halfheartedly eating her leech so she asked while gently putting a hand on his shoulder,

"Something wrong, hun? You barely touched your leech."

"I... I think my dad is a giant piece of shit..."

"Huh? You alright?" She asked as she sat down next to him, "You've always known he was a giant piece of shit."

"He's a monster. I thought he had to be..." Moxxie spoke before emphasizing with teary eyes, "He didn't have to be."

He started to cry and Millie hugged him close while crooning in a comforting manner before pressing a light kiss on his forehead,

"Awww..."

A few seconds later, Ayden joined the hug as well and when she felt the inner warmth build up within her again, she squinted her eyes shut a bit in concentration to let the feeling spread out, seen physically as wisps of faintly fiery lights, further comforting Moxxie and Millie.

"You know, that does look really good, though." Moxxie wiped his tears away and pulled away from the hug so he could pick up his fork in one hand to start on his dinner, Millie leaned her head against his and Ayden only pulled away enough to scoot her chair and plate closer as they smiled and started eating together.

"Mmmm..." Moxxie hummed in satisfaction as he ate his leech, "That is fucking good leech!"

"For real." Ayden complimented as well, digging into her leech.

"Really? I know you're usually not too big on leech." Millie directed to Moxxie.

"You know, I'm usually not! But if you made this again, I wouldn't be upset. Is this the trophy leech?"

"Nah, I'm eating trophy leech." Millie pulled over a large platter with a larger leech on it as she told him, "The one I gave you is a little leaner."

"Wow Mum ya eatin' fer two o' somethin'?" Ayden questioned jokingly before eating another forkful of leech.

"Pft! Hahahaha!" Millie chuckled blatantly and obviously before trying to change the subject with, "Y-Y'know Blitzo caught both of yours."

"Really? He gave them to you?" Moxxie questioned in mild disbelief, unfazed by Millie's outburst,

"For you both, actually! He said if you didn't think that was good leech, you were a lost cause."

"Well I like it!" Ayden chirped happily with her mouth partially full.

"No, no, I'm a believer."

Moxxie thought for a second before he was about to make a pun, but Millie beat him to it,

"-A be-leecher!"

"I'm a be-leecher!"

"I knew you were going for it!" Millie slyly teased, making Moxxie chuckle,

"Fuck you."

"~Maybe laterrr...~"

Before the two of them started sexually purring and meowing at each other, Ayden looking like she was about to make a "trying to eat here" joke, but settled for a goodhearted eye roll as she kept eating while enjoying this moment with her parents as her gemstone faintly continued glowing.

AN- Shorts are caught up on! : D

Some notes and references for this one:

Ayden's journal was first introduced back in the "Support Systems Go!" short story with the code 235 being a number of healing and self-care, as well as self-reliance with acceptance and support of others in numerologyThe fact that she possesses memories from her siblings and Den was first revealed back in Ghostf**kers and will be touched upon more within Season 3 (hopefully)Ayden's mobster hat is the same one she got back at the end of "Exes and Oohs," she just colored it dark red to match her style betterIn case there is any confusion as to how Ayden can still feel Jin's emotions, it's similar and based on how in Steven Universe when Rose says in her video to Steven that every time he loves being himself, it's her loving him, with the added ability to share the shared feelings with others if Ayden concentrates enough

Next up; Mission Zero! I'm hoping to have it finished by next week before Hazbin Hotel starts on the 29th but if I don't post it next Sunday, I'll aim to post it on Halloween ^^

Also quick Happy 3 year Anniversary to Seeing Stars! :D

Until then, Byeeee!
