DEXTER && EMMA ARE THE TRUE EMBODIMENT OF HAVING A SOULMATE

when people say that dexter wasted so much time or emma wasted so much time, and the trope is "right person wrong time", in the nicest way possible; i feel like people don't understand the show. soulmates will be right for each other when they are right for themselves first, and that's what they did and were. for them to truly have such a strong romantic relationship that we see in the penultimate episode, they needed to work on themselves as individuals to be the best versions of themselves for each other. otherwise they wouldn't have worked. when people say that dexter wasted so much time and realise his feelings for emma too late haven't truly seen how he looks at her before they get together.

even when emma or he is in a relatonship, they both know that he has feelings for her, and vise versa. but if they have gotten together earlier when dexter was having depression tendentices, maturity and addiction problems, while emma was struggling with her self esteem and her career, they wouldn't have lasted and most probably they would have lost that friendship that they always seemed to comeback too. the story is about loving yourself for yourself but also for your eventual soulmate that you will find one day or realise that they were right there waiting for you for the right time. so instead of saying they wasted time, look at it as beautiful tradgic event as they were perfect for each other in that moment until it was cut short. so it is "right person not enough time"
