( Arising Selfishness )
"..."
"My name?"
He turned only slightly, and diverted his gaze away from your own as if he had a difficult time speaking furthermore. "It's Shōto Todoroki..."
The name suits him well. Todoroki returned his eyes back up at you, and gave the silent gesture that you should politely share your own name.
"O-Oh!" You realized, "[F/N], [L/N]. You... do remember me right?"
Todoroki nodded, and stroked the back of his neck gently. "..Of course." His words made your heart flutter, and goosebumps started to accumulate on your soft skin.
"I mean, I did help you out. My mom told me that it's important to remember the faces of those you've helped."
This is the result of thinking too ahead; disappointment. A frown tugged against your lips and your heart rate steadied. There wasn't any romantic electricity sparking between you two, it was only one-sided.
"I'm gonna go now, I'll see you later." Todoroki threw a short wave and exited the classroom, oblivious to Midoriya's presence. He leaned against the wall, his head narrowed.
And as the young boy walked down the hallway, the other with unkept hair tugged on the tips of his forelocks. "I wonder what they were talking about.." He muttered, and slid toward the door only enough for him to peek inside. Midoriya noticed you sitting down, with a rather distraught and disappointed look on your face.
His fingertips twitched, while he leaned away from the door. His green irises stared deeply toward the boy down the hallway, and his teeth collided together in irritation.
'What did he.. say to her?'
Surrounding his arms were sparks and flares of green electricity. It crackled, and yet the producer couldn't hear it, noises from every corner was unable to ring through his ears. And yet, his eyes remained focused on the boy turning the corner.
His eyes were vast, and were as empty as a bottomless void. ".Why is.. [L/N] so sad..?" Before Midoriya could follow, the door being slid open snapped him back into reality, and the sparks recuperated back into nothingness.
"Oh, hey Midoriya. Were you waiting to go to lunch with me?" You asked, sliding the door close behind you. Him on the other hand, blinked profusely. Just a minute ago you looked sad, Was there nothing to worry about?
"Y.. Yeah. Let's go." He muttered, and walked beside you as you had began to head for the main cafeteria.
"Hey, over here!" Uraraka called, waving her hand. Doing this caused a boy with bright yellow hair and a black engraved lighting bolt on the side of his hair to look over. He also had brown eyes, and a grin replaced his lips.
"Fresh meat~."
"Kaminari.. they're our classmates."
There was about four or five other people sitting with them. Luckily there were three empty seats, so you and Midoriya sat with them.
"I'm Denki Kaminari, Sup." Kaminari folded his arm and bobbed his head back, meanwhile the girl with.. what it appeared to be headphone jacks facepalmed. "Stop trying to act cool.. It doesn't fit you."
She propped her elbows against the table, her food scooted aside. Meanwhile, an suddenly depressed Kaminari sulked. "Kyoka Jiro, nice to meet you two."
You and Midoriya knew the name of the next guy; Tenya Īida.
"As you both may know, I'm Tenya Īida." He didn't say much afterwards due to stuffing rice in his face... graciously.
And the last boy.. you failed to notice. He's very short, to say the least. And by his stare, you could not only tell that he was a weirdo—, but a problematic person as well. "Mineta." He had a mildly firm lisp, which had been a mild surprise.
"I'm.. Izuku Midoriya, and the one beside me is [F/N] [L/N]." Awkwardly, you looked away as eyes had sat gently upon you.
"Let's have a good year together." You muttered, Midoriya simply smiled faintly at your remark. "Oh, [L/N]. Wanna go grab our lunches? They've already gotten their own."
"Sure, why not."
The both of you stood in line, casually conversing. Even though you stared Midoriya directly in his eyes, you could also notice an figure in the distance; Bakugou. And a redhead approached him not long after, he looked quite familiar.
You had almost completely shut off Midoriya, your feet rising on their tippy toes to support your peer over Midoriya's shoulder. After all, you were kind of shorter than him.
"But I was wondering if you wanted to go to this place I had in mind.."
He nervously lifted his gaze up toward you, before noticing how departed from the conversation you were. He then turned around, curious to what you were looking at.
Midoriya stared at Bakugou with a blank expression, and turned back around to face you. "What's wrong with Kacchan?"
Quickly, you diverted your attention towards the other standing before you. "It's nothing really, I just felt like that guy beside him was familiar."
After once last glance behind him, the boy pointed toward the redhed. "He's in our class. Kirishima, I think."
You flinched, disappointed in yourself for not having even the slightest decency to remember your classmates' names.
"Oh..!"
After the both of you were able to grab your lunches, you walked toward the table with the tray gracefully laying in your palms. Your shoulder brushed gently against a student's, and you simply peered so your eyes could greet one another.
"T-Todoroki!" Your body bent forward and you began to bow frantically in sorry. "I-I didn't mean to-"
"So we.. meet again, [L/N]."
It was like he ignored your apologetic sequence, and he did. Todoroki came to a stop after both you and Midoriya had did so, the other with unkept hair stood in the sidelines with furrowed brows.
'It's this feeling again..'
About to speak, Midoriya was cut off by your quivering voice. "Y-Yeah, who.. are you sitting with?"
"No one, at least I didn't have anyone in mind." Gloom overtook your features and yet you shook your head, a nervous smile now playing across your lips.
"Do you want.. to sit with us?" Your head had pivoted toward the table full of obnoxious teens. Todoroki stared at them before shaking his head. "It's almost full, I'll just sit by myself. Thanks for the offer though, it was really kind of you, [L/N]."
He left with ease, meanwhile you felt saddened. Until that is, you flashed back to his words;
"Thanks for the offer though, it was really kind of you, [L/N]."
You shivered, trying to hold back an outburst out of happiness. "That isn't what I had in mind, but mission accomplished!" You happily began to walk toward the table, now in a chattering frenzy.
Midoriya pursed his lips, his head slightly turnt in Todoroki's direction.
'.. Rivalry... huh?..'
He stepped closely behind you, practically grazing your back with his tray, while his nose ran along your soft [H/C] hair. Your tangles of hair tickled his nose as he took in your alluring scent, a gentle smile making his way to his face.
'I don't care how many rivals I may have.. She's mine.'
'And mine alone.'
