Day 16
* okay I'm doing a different perspective for this one*
As Mia stomped out of the gym, her Pokémon trailing behind her, the gym leaders exchanged glances.
"She's... something else," Brock muttered, rubbing the back of his neck.
Misty sighed. "Well, she’s not wrong about earning her title. But still, those habits... they’re worrying."
Lt. Surge crossed his arms. "Kid's got guts, but she’s gonna burn out if she keeps this up. Someone’s gotta talk some sense into her."
Meanwhile, outside, Mia trudged along the cobblestone path of Pewter City, muttering to herself. "Habits, habits. What’s next? Are they gonna tell me how to breathe too?"
Pikachu tilted her head. "Pika?"
Mia smirked down at her. "Yeah, yeah, I know, Pikachu. I’m being dramatic. But still, can’t they just let me be? I’m fine!"
Ivysaur frowned and nudged her leg with his vine. "Saur..."
She paused, glancing down at her Pokémon. "What? Don’t tell me you’re siding with them now too."
Bulby gave her a pointed look, and even Charmander folded his little arms as if agreeing. Mia groaned, throwing her hands up. "Fine, fine! I’ll think about it, okay?"
She plopped onto a bench, arms crossed, while her Pokémon gathered around her. She stared at the sky, her mind wandering.
I know they’re just trying to help, but… it’s not like I can just stop. Being Champion is tough. And they don’t get it. They’ve never been in my shoes.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of hurried footsteps. She turned to see Blue, looking both exasperated and determined.
"Mia!" he called out, stopping to catch his breath.
She raised an eyebrow. "What, come to lecture me some more?"
Blue crossed his arms. "Actually, I came to apologize."
That caught her off guard. "Apologize? For what?"
"For ganging up on you back there," he admitted, his tone softer than usual. "We all came on a bit strong. But... we’re just worried about you. You’re still a kid, Mia. Champion or not, you can’t keep pushing yourself like this."
She frowned, looking away. "I’m fine, Blue. Really. I’ve got this under control."
"Do you?" he challenged, stepping closer. "Because from what I’ve seen, it doesn’t look like it. Look, I get it. You’ve got a lot of pressure on you. But you’re not alone, you know? We’re all here to help you."
Mia bit her lip, his words striking a chord. Her Pokémon gathered closer, their concerned gazes matching Blue's.
Finally, she sighed, slumping in her seat. "Maybe I have been pushing myself too hard... but I just don’t want to let anyone down."
Blue smiled faintly, sitting beside her. "You won’t. But you can’t keep carrying all that weight on your own. Let us help you, okay?"
She hesitated, then nodded slowly. "Okay. But if anyone brings up ‘habits’ again, I’m out."
Blue chuckled. "Deal."
