Day 13

The room erupted into chaos the moment Lance read the label on the green bottle.

"Mia, this is Modafinil!" Lance exclaimed, his voice filled with concern.

I blinked, completely clueless. "Uh... so? What is that? Is it bad?"

Lorelei pinched the bridge of her nose. "It’s a wakefulness drug used for sleep disorders. It’s not something a ten year older should ever be taking!"

Gary stared at me, his face pale. "How much of this have you been taking?"

I shrugged. "I don’t know... like, one pill every time I felt tired."

"HOW MANY TIMES IS THAT?!" Gary yelled, his voice cracking as he stared at me like I had grown another head.

I scratched my chin, trying to remember. "Uhhh... maybe... 14 times? Or 20? Honestly, I lost count after the first week."

Gary threw his hands in the air and stormed into the next room, screaming at no one in particular. "WHY IS SHE LIKE THIS?! WHY?!"

Meanwhile, Lorelei and Lance were whispering urgently to each other, glancing at me every few seconds like I was a ticking time bomb. Bruno and Greta had begun pacing the room, their concern obvious on their faces.

I tilted my head. "Okay, why is everyone freaking out? It’s not like I’m dying or anything."

Professor Oak, who had been fanning himself with a piece of paper, finally spoke. "Mia, wakefulness drugs, sleeping pills, and whatever else you’ve been taking can seriously mess with your body. You’re a child. Your system isn’t built to handle this."

"Wait, what else have you been taking?" Lance asked sharply, narrowing his eyes at me.

"Oh, just some other stuff," I said nonchalantly, reaching into my bag.

The room collectively gasped as I pulled out several more bottles.

Lorelei snatched one and read the label. "Diazepam?! Mia, this is a prescription sedative!"

Bruno grabbed another bottle. "Ibuprofen 800 mg? That’s way too strong for you!"

Greta held up a small container of supplements and frowned. "Fish oil capsules for seniors?"

I shrugged. "Those were on sale."

Finally, Gary stomped back into the room, visibly fuming. He snatched another bottle from my hand, read the label, and froze. "Mia... this is calcium supplements for old people!"

I smirked. "Sheesh, chill, Gary. Since when have you ever lost your cool?"

Gary glared at me. "Since my ten year old girlfriend started acting like a walking pharmacy!"

The entire room fell silent for a moment, and then Professor Oak let out a deep sigh. "Mia, do you understand how dangerous this is? Combining all these medications without medical supervision can cause serious health problems."

I scratched my head, still not understanding the fuss. "But I feel fine. And it helped me stay awake for battles!"

Lance knelt in front of me, his expression softening. "Mia, you’re pushing your body way too hard. We’re worried because we care about you."

Greta nodded. "Exactly. You’ve been fighting so hard, but you need to take care of yourself too. Battling isn’t worth risking your health."

Bruno crossed his arms. "You’ve got talent, kid, but if you keep this up, you’ll burn out before you even reach your full potential."

Lorelei placed a hand on my shoulder. "Mia, we all want to see you succeed, but not at the cost of your well-being."

For the first time, their concern hit me. "Wait... you guys actually care about me?"

Gary groaned. "Of course we do! Do you think we’d be running around like this if we didn’t?"

I blinked, genuinely surprised. "Huh. I thought the Elite Four were supposed to be all self-centered and aloof."

Lance chuckled softly. "Not when it comes to a kid like you."

I sighed, slumping to the floor. "Okay, okay, I get it. No more weird pills. But seriously, I don’t see why everyone’s so dramatic about this."

Gary facepalmed. "You’re impossible."

I grinned cheekily. "And you love me for it."

As the room finally began to calm down, I couldn’t help but feel a little warmth in my chest. Maybe, just maybe, they all had a point. But I wasn’t about to admit that out loud anytime soon.
