Day 13

Lance stared at the Modafinil bottle in his hand, his expression growing more serious by the second. "Mia," he said, his voice low but firm. "This is not just some random sleeping aid. It’s a prescription drug meant for people with specific conditions. Taking it without supervision can be dangerous."

I blinked at him, tilting my head. "Dangerous? But I feel fine! Like I said, I'm awake, and that's all that matters, right?"

"WRONG!" Gary suddenly shouted, startling everyone. He stormed over, pointing an accusatory finger at me. "Do you have any idea what that stuff can do to you?! Why would you even—" He threw his hands in the air and screamed into the next room.

"Pika pika," Pikachu muttered, shaking her head.

Lorelei knelt down beside me, her usual cool demeanor replaced by visible concern. "Mia, honey, what else have you been taking? Please be honest with us."

I frowned. "Uh… nothing bad, I think." I rummaged through my bag and started pulling out bottles, one by one.

Greta’s eyes widened as the collection grew. "Mia, this isn’t 'nothing bad!' What even is all this?!"

"Uh…" I held up a red bottle. "This one is for energy. And this one is for, uh, focus. Oh, and this one—"

"STOP," Lance said, holding up a hand. He grabbed one of the bottles and read the label. "Mia, this is a stimulant. This could give you a heart attack if you’re not careful!"

Bruno, who had been pacing furiously, stopped and turned to face me. "Kid, do you have any idea how dangerous this is? You can’t just mix random medications like this!"

I looked between them, confused and a little defensive. "Okay, but why is everyone acting like I’m about to drop dead? I’ve been fine for two weeks! I battled the Elite Four, I beat Giovanni, and I’m still standing!"

Professor Oak, who had been fanning himself with a clipboard, finally spoke. "Mia, the issue isn’t just how you feel now. It’s what could happen if you keep this up. These medications can have long-term effects on your body, and combining them is incredibly risky."

Gary glared at me, crossing his arms. "And you didn’t think to tell anyone? Not even me?"

I shrugged. "I didn’t think it was a big deal. I mean, you guys are always so busy, and I didn’t want to bother you."

"Bother us?!" Gary looked like he was about to explode. "Mia, you’re more important than any battle or project! How could you think otherwise?"

I blinked, surprised by his outburst. "I… I didn’t know you guys cared that much…"

Lorelei placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. "Of course we care, Mia. You’re part of this team, and we all want you to be healthy and safe."

Lance nodded. "What you’ve accomplished is incredible, but your health comes first. From now on, no more self-medicating. If you’re struggling with something, you come to us. Understood?"

I nodded slowly, still processing their concern. "Okay, I promise. No more pills."

"Good," Lance said, his tone softening slightly.

Meanwhile, Greta and Bruno were still pacing, muttering about how they could have missed the signs. Gary sat down next to me, his anger giving way to worry. "You scared me, Mia. Don’t ever do something like this again, okay?"

I gave him a small smile. "Okay, I won’t. Thanks, Gary."

"Pika pika," Pikachu added, hopping onto my lap and nuzzling me.

As the room settled, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of emotions. On one hand, I was embarrassed by all the fuss. On the other, I was touched by how much everyone genuinely cared. Maybe the Elite Four weren’t as self-centered as I’d thought.
