Day 13

Lance stared at the bottle in his hands, his face growing more concerned with each passing second. "Mia," he said, his voice low and serious. "This is a medication used for people with serious sleep disorders. Taking it without needing it can be... dangerous."

I blinked at him, utterly confused. "Dangerous? What are you talking about? I feel fine!"

Gary, meanwhile, had his hands on his head, pacing furiously. "Fine?! You’ve been eating pills like they’re candy, Mia! How is that fine?! What even is this stash?"

Lorelei knelt beside me, her face soft but worried. "Mia, sweetheart, can you show us everything you’ve been taking? Please?"

I groaned, rolling my eyes. "Why does everyone suddenly care so much? Ugh, fine. But you’re going to feel really silly when you realize it’s nothing serious."

I reached into my bag and began pulling out bottles and packets. There were sleep aids, energy boosters, something with a name I couldn’t pronounce, and a bright orange bottle that I thought was candy at first.

Lance’s eyes widened as the pile grew. "Mia... where did you even get all of this?"

"PokeMart," I said casually, shrugging. "You can find a lot of stuff if you just ask."

"WHAT?!" Gary shouted, storming into the next room. We could hear his muffled screams of frustration through the wall.

Bruno, who had been silent up until now, started pacing. "This is... this is insane. How did no one notice this earlier?"

Greta, looking pale, shook her head. "She’s been under so much pressure... we should’ve seen the signs."

Professor Oak, meanwhile, was fanning himself with his clipboard, his face red. "This is unprecedented. Mia, do you even understand what you’ve been doing to your body?"

"Uh... surviving the Elite Four?" I offered, completely oblivious to the gravity of the situation.

Lorelei sighed deeply, rubbing her temples. "Mia, this isn’t surviving. This is harming yourself. These medications can have serious side effects, especially when mixed together. You’re lucky you haven’t collapsed already."

"Pika pi," my Pikachu chimed in, looking equally concerned as she poked at the pile of bottles.

I frowned, suddenly feeling defensive. "Look, I’ve been tired, okay? And I had to stay awake and alert for the battles. It’s not like I was doing this for fun!"

Lance knelt in front of me, his eyes serious but kind. "Mia, we get that you’ve been under pressure, but this isn’t the way to handle it. You should’ve told someone you were struggling."

"Struggling?" I scoffed. "I wasn’t struggling! I was doing fine!"

Gary burst back into the room, pointing a finger at me. "Mia, you call taking half a pharmacy fine?! You’re reckless, you know that?!"

I flinched at his tone but crossed my arms stubbornly. "I didn’t see you offering to help, Gary!"

"Because I didn’t know!" he yelled, clearly exasperated.

Bruno stopped pacing and looked at me. "Mia, we’re worried about you. You’ve been pushing yourself way too hard."

"Too hard?" I muttered, my voice trembling slightly. "I just... I just wanted to prove I could do it. That I was strong enough."

Greta stepped forward, placing a hand on my shoulder. "You are strong, Mia. You don’t need to hurt yourself to show that."

The room fell silent for a moment as their words sank in. I looked down at the pile of medication, suddenly feeling small and overwhelmed. "I didn’t think it was a big deal," I whispered.

Oak sighed, stepping closer. "Mia, the fact that you didn’t think it was a big deal is why we’re all so worried. We’re here to help you, but you have to let us."

Lorelei nodded. "From now on, no more pills. If you’re feeling stressed or overwhelmed, you come to one of us. Promise?"

I hesitated but eventually nodded. "Okay... I promise."

Gary sighed, running a hand through his hair. "Good. Because if I catch you with even one more bottle, I swear I’m dragging you straight to a doctor."

"Pika pika," Pikachu added firmly.

I couldn’t help but chuckle weakly. "Okay, okay, I get it. No more pills."

The tension in the room began to ease as everyone exchanged relieved glances.

But I couldn’t shake the feeling that they’d be keeping a very close eye on me from now on.
