Baby Leia

I paced around the room, muttering something under my breath. " Great.... we're gonna need to tell Red..... mom..... your sister.... your mom..... Professor Oak..... Blue... Leaf...." I groaned. " Gary, are you writing this?"

" Yes, Mia. I'm writing this down." Gary said with a deadpan look.

I whirled to face him. " How did this happen?!"

Gary looked at the bassinet he was leaning against and sighed. " I dunno, Mia. I don't know."

" Who should we tell first?"

Gary sighed. " Your brother."

" What?! B... but he'll be with Blue and Leaf!"

" Exactly." Gary said, picking the baby girl up. " We'll just explain to them all about Leia."

I sighed, but, seeing as to their was no other choice, nodded. " Fine."

I hesitantly pushed the Viridian City Gym doors open. " Reeeed?" I called. " Bluuuue? Leeeeeaf? Anyone?"

" Yo, Mia!" Blue called. " In the back!"

I sighed, then turned to Gary. " Stay here and wait for my signal."

Gary nodded, and I sighed and walked to the older kids.

" Pika pi?" Pikachu asked Gary as she sat on his shoulder.

Gary sighed. " I don't know, Pikachu. I don't know."

Meanwhile, I walked into the back, where Blue was lounging on his chair. " Yo, Mia! What brings you here today?"

Red was leaning on the wall, but he looked up and smiled at me, though his smile disappeared when he saw my face.

" Mia? What happened?" Leaf asked gently.

I sighed. " Okay..... Red? We have a new addition to the family. Don't ask."

Red raised a brow, and Blue grinned. " Cool! Where are they?"

I took a deep breath, my heart racing. " Okay, Gary," I called, my voice wavering. " You can come in now."

Gary stepped in slowly, cradling the baby girl in his arms. The moment the others saw her, the room fell into stunned silence.

Blue sat up straighter in his chair, his grin fading into an expression of confusion. "Wait... what?"

Leaf's mouth opened and closed like a Magikarp, her eyes darting between me, Gary, and the baby. "Mia, explain."

Red, usually the calmest of the group, had pushed off the wall and was now walking toward us, his brown eyes sharp and questioning. He didn't say anything, but the intensity in his gaze was enough to make me gulp.

I fidgeted under their stares, rubbing the back of my head. "Sooo, funny story..."

"Yeah, we're gonna need a better explanation than that," Blue deadpanned, standing up and crossing his arms.

I took another deep breath, looking at the baby in Gary's arms. Leia cooed softly, blinking up at us with innocent eyes, completely unaware of the chaos she was causing.

"Her name is Leia," I finally said, my voice softer. "And... she's my responsibility now."

Red's eyes widened slightly. Leaf gasped. Blue's jaw dropped.

"WHAT?!" Blue shouted, nearly toppling over. "Mia, what do you mean she's your responsibility?!"

Leaf, still staring at Leia, whispered, "Where did she come from?"

Gary sighed, shifting Leia in his arms. "That... is a long story."

Red's eyes stayed locked on Leia. Then, after a long moment, he looked at me again. His stare wasn't angry, but it was serious. Protective.

"Explain," he finally said, his voice quiet but firm.

I winced. This was exactly what I was afraid of.

I took a deep breath and prepared to tell them everything.

Leia, oblivious to the tension in the room, let out a soft coo and clumsily grabbed for Gary's collar.

Gary looked like he was about to pass out.

"I—uh—Mia..." he whispered frantically out of the side of his mouth. "How are we supposed to explain this?!"

I clenched my fists. "We just tell them the truth."

"Are you out of your mind?! The truth is impossible!" Gary hissed. "They'll think we're completely nuts! Or worse—they'll tell your brother's Pokémon to incinerate me!"

Red's eyes flickered at that, as if Charizard were already on standby for orders.

Blue, ever the loudmouth, threw his hands in the air. "Someone better start talking now before I lose my mind! Because from where I'm standing, it looks like Gary freakin' Oak and Mia freakin' Ketchum have a baby! And that's scientifically impossible unless—"

He froze, his mouth dropping further. "Wait a minute." He pointed at Gary. "Dude. Did you—did you—"

Gary's face turned crimson. "NO! Oh Arceus, no!" he spluttered. "It's not—it's not like that!"

Leaf, who had been staring blankly at Leia, suddenly seemed to snap out of her shock. "Wait... so this isn't what it looks like?"

"Of course it isn't!" I blurted. "It's not like Gary and I did anything. I mean, come on! We're ten!"

"Then explain how there's a baby here with you two!" Leaf demanded, her voice shaking. "And why you called her a new addition to the family!"

I rubbed my temples, feeling the weight of the situation pressing down on me. "Okay, okay. It's gonna sound crazy, but hear me out."

"Already sounds crazy," Blue muttered.

Ignoring him, I pressed on. "So, uh... in the future..." My voice faltered. "I, um... apparently... had a kid."

Silence. Deafening, bone-chilling silence.

Then Blue erupted. "WHAAAAAAT?!"

"I told you it was crazy!" I shouted back. "But it's true! Leia is my daughter from the future. She somehow got sent back in time—don't ask how, I don't even know—and now she's here!"

Gary groaned, running a hand through his hair. "And apparently, I'm the dad."

"You're WHAT?!" Leaf yelped.

"I don't even know how it happened!" Gary wailed, clearly on the verge of a mental breakdown. "One minute I'm a normal ten-year-old, and the next minute—bam! Fatherhood!" He pointed at Leia, who was now happily chewing on his jacket sleeve. "I'm not ready for this, Mia! I don't even know how to change a diaper!"

"I don't either!" I snapped. "Do you think I woke up this morning thinking, 'Gee, I hope I become a mom today'? No!"

Red, who had been eerily silent up until now, finally spoke. His voice was calm but laced with disbelief. "You're saying... that's your child?"

I nodded miserably. "Yeah."

"And Gary's?"

"Apparently."

There was a long pause as Red processed this information. His brows furrowed, and for a second, I thought he might faint.

Instead, he surprised me by letting out a deep breath. "Okay."

"Okay?!" Blue exploded. "What do you mean okay? This isn't okay! This is insane!"

Red shot him a look. "Yelling won't help."

Leaf, still pale, took a shaky breath. "I... I just need clarification. Mia, are you absolutely sure she's your daughter?"

"Yeah," I whispered. "There's this birthmark on her shoulder. I have the same one. And, uh..." I looked down, my voice trembling. " We did a DNA test."

Leaf gasped softly, her hand flying to her mouth. Blue looked like someone had knocked the wind out of him.

Gary slumped against the wall. "We're doomed."

Leia, seemingly tired of the drama, let out a loud wail.

"Oh no, no, no—don't cry!" Gary panicked, bouncing her awkwardly. "Mia, help! What do I do?!"

"Rock her or something!" I exclaimed, my voice rising.

"I AM rocking her!"

"You're shaking her like a Poké Ball! That's not rocking!"

"Then YOU take her!"

"I don't know how either!"

Red stepped forward, his calm demeanor somehow cutting through the chaos. "Here." He held out his hands.

Gary hesitated before reluctantly passing Leia to him. Red cradled her expertly, his expression softening as he gently rocked her back and forth. Leia's cries subsided almost immediately.

"Whoa," Blue muttered. "Since when do you know how to handle babies?"

Red didn't answer, but there was a faint smile on his lips.

Leaf shook her head, her voice still shaky. "Mia... Gary... we need to figure this out. This is huge."

"I know," I said quietly. "But I don't know where to start."

Red looked at me, his brown eyes steady. "We'll figure it out together."

His words, simple as they were, lifted some of the weight off my shoulders. I managed a small smile. "Thanks, Red."

Gary groaned. "I need a manual for this whole dad thing."

Blue snorted. "Good luck with that, Oak."

Leaf sighed. "We'll get through this. We have to."

Leia cooed again, and I felt a strange warmth fill my chest. Maybe this was crazy. Maybe it was impossible. But we were going to face it together.

Because that's what family does.
