Chapter 10
The whole week Louis and Harry didn't see each other. They texted a lot like usual, but every time Harry suggested something to do together Louis would caim he was busy. Well, he didn't exactly say he was busy. More like making excuses and Harry was starting to think that the other boy avoided him. It wasn't normal for them anymore to see each other only in dance class once a week.
Harry had the suspicion that it had something to do with Eleanor and it made him feel uneasy. So when he went to dance class the next week he was nervous.
What if Louis would ignore him? What if Eleanor was his girlfriend now? What if it was Harry who had done something wrong? What if he came in to see Louis and Eleanor kissing? He cringed at the prospect.
Luke said he was just overthinking everything. And maybe he was right, Harry tried to assure himself.
Due to his nervousness he unintentionally came earlier than normal. But to his surprise Louis was already there, too. When Harry stepped into the dressing room he looked up and smiled.
"Harry!" He waited until mentioned boy had thrown his bag on the bench before he slung his arm around Harrys' shoulders and pulled him into a hug. Harry was surprised. It wasn't uncommon for them to touch but it was always more platonic and not that purposeful- not that Harry was complaining. So he wrapped his arms around Louis and enjoyed their short lived hug.
"So how was your week?" Louis asked when they pulled away.
"Good, great. It was good." Harry said a little too fast.
Louis noticed and was confused, "Is everything okay?"
"Yeah, of course." Harry said after a short hesistation.
But Louis noticed again. Harry was an awful liar. He turned to Harry completely and put a hand on the tall boys' cheek.
"What is it, Harry?" Louis whispered, looking into his eyes.
Harry had a hard time breathing because Louis was so close and he looked so sincere. "You know you can tell me anything."
Harry took a deep breath to keep himself on the ground. "I just...-" He hesistated but Louis' expression told him to go on. "Were you avoiding me?" His voice was small and the guilty look that flashed through Louis' eyes told him that his apprehension was right.
But Louis stepped even closer, hand still resting on Harrys' cheek. "Hazza, no, it wasn't like that. "
"Hazza?" Harry asked, still whispering, because he didn't want this to end, what ever this was. It was like a bubble they build themselves where nobody could enter. But a small wrong move could make it burst.
Louis smiled and leaned up a little to bring their faces closer. On instinct Harry leaned down a bit. He could have sworn he saw Louis' eyes look down to his lips. Though he didn't dare to close his eyes yet, his whole body felt like it was on fire in anticipation. He could feel Louis' body heat due to his closure and it was hard to breath. Louis' eyes slipped close and he was about to lean in the last bit, Harry following-...
-when they heard the door knob jiggle breaking the breathtaking silence and the door opened. Louis hastily stumbled backwards and landed on his bum. "Ow!" he let out.
Harrys' eyes were opened wide while trying to process what on earth just happened.
Niall laughed at Louis who glared back, but he looked like an angry kitten from where he sat on the floor. Liam, who came up behind Niall, asked, "What happened here?"
Louis stood up and muttered, "None of your business." Then he turned to Harry and asked, "Are you ready?", like nothing happened.
"No." He answered, "I didn't even start."
"Okay, I'll wait." Louis said and sat on the bench.
Harry went to change but hesistated and turned to Louis again, "Can you maybe, like, not, err, watch me?"
Louis' eyes widened because he didn't even realize he was staring. "Oh, yeah, of course." He looked away to the door where Zayn stepped through in that very moment. He said nothing, just nodded as a greeting. After another few minutes they all had changed and nobody had said anything, not even Louis. It wasn't bothering Harry. He liked the silence, it was just strange. Nobody else seemed suspicious though, so he figured it was okay.
"Okay, let's go!" Niall shouted. Louis wrapped his arm around Harrys' waist and they went after him. The yougher smiled to himself and wrapped his arm around Louis' shoulders. He liked this touchy, clingy Louis eventhough he didn't know where he came from or what it meant. They didn't let go of each other even when Ed and Amy greeted them. They just separated when they had to go to their dance partners. Eleanor saw that and winked at Louis who glared at her, but there was a blush creeping ist way onto his cheeks.

They always had a two minutes break to drink in the middle of the lesson. This time, like always, Harry went to the corner where the bottles were standing and took his to drink. It was when he gulped down a mouthful of his apple juice when he felt a hand on the small of his back. He looked down to see Louis grabbing his own bottle with the hand that wasn't laid on Harrys' back. The shorter boy stood up straight again and took his hand away in order to open his bottle.
It was a small gesture but Harry felt like it was more somehow. He could still feel his skin prickling where Louis' hand had lain. He didn't know what, but something was different with Louis today. His behaviour, yes, but there was more. The chemistry was different...
"Are you okay?" He heard Louis, breaking him out of his thoughts.
Harry looked at him. He didn't even notice that he blanked out for a moment. "Oh yeah, yes." Louis considered him for a moment, then smiled sweetly at him. Harry smiled back softly. There was something in Louis' eyes that he hadn't seen before. He wasn't able to comprehend it but it they were sparkling. It looked beautiful, like he always did.
Their moment was interrupted by Jesy, "Hey guys." She said way too chirpy, "What were you talking about?"
"Unicorns and rainbows, of course." Louis replied sacastically.
Jesy looked at him, probably contemplating how to react. But then she just ignored the remark and turned to Harry, "How's your sister, Harry?" She knew about Gemma coming because they texted over private chat on What's app. She always wanted to keep the conversation going and used tons of emojis (A/N: Like me;)) and Harry didn't really know what to make of it.
"She's fine." Harry glanced at Louis, "Was great."
Jesy smiled and Louis had no doubt that it was flirtingly. He shot daggers at her as she said sweetly, "That's lovely."
Fortunately Ed shouted, "Okay, back to your spots." Louis threw an arm around Harry and led him to his spot before retracting to his.
It was not the last time Louis saw Jesy flirting with Harry (or trying to) though.
Louis still talked to Avril after the lesson since she was his dance partner and they got along very well. Avril made an exaggerated dance move because this one frustrated her. Louis laughed and stumbled a step back to not get hit. But then something caught his eyes and he stopped laughing apruptly.
Jesy laughed, no giggled, at something Harry said or did. She stood infront of him and Eleanor, whom still stood next to Harry and watched the pair. Seeming to feel eyes on herself Eleanor turned to see Louis glaring at Jesy with clenched fists. She couldn't help herself as she let out a high pitched chuckle.
Harry and Jesy turned to her with confused looks on their faces. Louis took that moment to tiptoe behind Harry and jump on his back wrapping his legs around his waist. Harry let out a surprised squeak and stumbled forward a bit but held onto Louis' thights to keep him from falling.
"Louis!" he compained, "You could have at least warned me!"
"Sorry." Louis whispered into his ear, ducking his head down to reach it, and hugged his shoulders tight. A shiver ran down Harrys' spine and for a second his grip on Louis' thights loosened a bit but he quickly composed himself, hoping nobody noticed, especially not Louis.
Harry looked up to see that almost everyone was obvious to it except for Jesy, who watched them curiously, and Eleanor, who was smirking like she knew exactly what was going on. It was kind of scary.
Before he could worry too much about that Louis announced loudly, "So, how about you give me a ride?" Harry blushed but laughed and carried Louis piggyback into the dressing rooms where the other Boys were already changing their attire.
When Harry let him down Louis stepped infront of him and patted his cheek, "Thanks, Hazza." Then he turned to his bag like it was completely normal to pat someones' cheek.
Okay, Harry had to admit that they were more close and touchy than normal friends but something was different. Louis was acting different and he was even more touchy than previously. It was like he wanted to make a point or something. Was it related to the almost kiss from about an hour ago? But it began before that. Harry wasn't even sure if it was what he thought it was.
Whatever this was, Harry definetly wasn't complaining.
