Gain and Loss
Snivy's POV:
I was a lot happier today. Not because I didn't have to fight Emolga, it was because of him.
Why can't I stop thinking about him? I asked myself as I ate. I looked over at Oshawott. He was currently being praised by Pansage about how he thwarted Emolga. Pansage used language such as, "the plan had an exquisite spice like no other," and, "a truly delectable feat!" I swear, Pansage was made for Cilan. But, I am getting way off topic.
Oshawott smiled goofily as he excepted the praise. I loved his smile. It was so innocent, like nothing bad had ever happened to him. I smiled, but quickly corrected myself.
Why am I acting so immature? I really need to stop. I quickly laid down and watched the clouds, trying hard to hide my smile.
Oshawott POV:
After thwarting Emolga, I was a hero to all the male Pokémon. Now, we could eat without worrying about Emolga and her stupid attract. I was a very proud and happy otter. Snivy seemed a lot happier too! She didn't prepare to battle Emolga as she ate, like she used to. Now she could focus on watching the clouds, and all the other mature stuff that she does. I glanced over and saw her staring at the clouds, smiling. I really liked her smile. It wasn't a wide grin, like mine. Her smile was more elegant. It was very subtle, but when she did smile, people could tell. I quickly snapped out of my daydream, when I realized that Pignite was eating my food. I quickly ate the rest of it and sat down.
I couldn't help but feel like Emolga was planning something. I brushed it off though. Since when was my gut instinct right anyway?
Emolga's POV:
I recited the plan in my head over and over. I had to execute this just right, or I would be discovered. I had practiced swooping in from trees, and grabbing small objects all morning. I was ready. There was only one thing I had to do. I had to make sure Snivy didn't notice, which would be difficult. She was always watching me to make sure I didn't pull a stunt like this off. I thought for a while before deciding to proceed with my plan when everyone was sleeping. That way, no one would know, except Oshawott of course.
I waited until after lunch, which was when Ash and Iris usually suggested a nap. Honestly, the two of them were so predictable, it was almost sad. Sure enough, everyone was sleeping by two o'clock. That is when I put my plan into action.
Oshawott's POV:
"All hail the Scalchop King, Oshawott!" The host shouted, lifting me high into the air.
"Oshawott! Oshawott!" The crowd chanted.
"Along with the position as Scalchop King, you also receive a life time supply of Pokémon Food, that is certified Pignite proof!" The announcer once again shouted.
"Oshawott!" I woke up from my dream to the voice of Emolga. I rolled over, thinking she would try to use attract again.
"Please Oshawott? I really need to talk to you." This time I noticed that Emolga's voice didn't have a nagging, smug sound, like it usually did. This convinced me to stand up and face Emolga.
"Okay. What is wrong Emolga?" I was a little annoyed to be woken up from my dream, so I sounded kind of annoyed.
"Is it okay if we talk by those trees? I want to tell you something in private." I rolled my eyes and reluctantly agreed to go with Emolga.
We stopped by an apple tree. She flew up to a branch a grabbed two apples. She passed one to me, and sat down on the branch.
"I just wanted to apologize Oshawott. I didn't realize how smart you were. I should have known attract wouldn't work on you forever." She sounded very sorry, and I felt a little bad.
"I forgive you Emolga." At the time, I actually had forgiven her. Everyone makes mistakes, right? But then I noticed that she hadn't touched her apple. I started to become suspicious. All of the sudden, she glided of the branch and towards me. By the time I realized what was going on, it was too late. Before I could stop her, she grabbed my scalchop and flew back to her branch. She smirked at my shocked face.
"You said you were sorry." I said in disbelief. She simply laughed.
"You didn't let me finish. I said I was sorry for thinking that attract would always work. I didn't say I was sorry for wanting to use you. In fact, the fact that you had thwarted my attract made me covet your services even more." Emolga smirked and examined my scalchop. I was super angry at her, and was about to run to tell everyone, but what she said next made me stop in my tracks.
"Going to tell the others, are we? I would advise you not to. I am sure you would hate to see your prized possession smashed into pieces." I was horrified at the thought, and made no attempt to hide my emotions. "So here is the deal. If you want your precious scalchop to stay in one piece, I suggest you listen to what I say next. First of all, you are not allowed to tell anyone about what has happened. If anyone asks where your scalchop is, make up an excuse. Second, you will have to listen to my every command. Third, you may not explain why you are listening to me. Understand?"
I nodded my head sadly, as she laughed deviously. I walked back over to the group of sleeping people and pokemon. I was so sad about losing my scalchop. I actually cried myself to sleep.
"Unfortunately, the contestant will have to forfeit the competition, because he does not have a scalchop. All of his Pokémon food will go to Emolga!" The announcer kept his happy go lucky tone as he put me down and held up Emolga.
"Emolga! Emolga!" The crowd cheered wildly.
I woke up, crying. Clearly, this was going to be tough. I just hoped it didn't ruin my already slim chances with Snivy.
