'Okay Sera, calm down. You've done this before so there's no need to be embarrassed. For the beast God's sake you've already done it six times already' I huffed and looked at the mating marks on my body.

It was night time and this was the time I decided I wanted to mate with Carlos. I was so lost in my thoughts about not to be nervous that I didn't hear him enter the room until I felt his cold fingers on my cheek.

"Are you nervous? Or uncomfortable?" He asked as he sat besides me. I shook my head and smiled at him.

"Well, I am I guess. I'm just nervous where your mark will end up in" I mumbled as he cupped my cheeks with his hands.

"I'm sure it'll end up near your heart. And even if it didn't end there, I'll still be greatful knowing it won't end up in your wrist or feet" he let out a small chuckle before kissing me.

The next day I woke up feeling a bit sore all over. I looked to my left to see that Carlos was still sleeping besides me.

I can't help but smile a bit as poke his cheeks gently. After that, I looked over my body trying to find where his mark end up.

I didn't have to look longer though, since as soon as I turned my head to my left. I saw a head of a black and white snake laying on my left shoulder blade. Which probably meant that his mark was on the back part of my left shoulder.

I caressed it with a smile. "You seem happy" I flinched a bit in shock when Carlos spoke with his eyes still closed.

"Eh?! How long have you been awake?!" I asked in shock making him chuckle a bit as he sat up and look at me.

Just a few minutes earlier before you poked my cheeks" I said making me huff and look away, feeling a bit embarrassed that I got caught poking his cheeks.

"Why are you acting all embarrassed now? Hm?" He asked as he wrapped his arms around my waist and his forked tongue licked my earlobe.

"Shut up and get out. I wanna bathe" I grumbled and sent him a small embarrassed glare to which he just chucklled at.

"Alright" he said with a smile as he let go of me and shifted his lower half into a snake and slithered out of the room.

And not long after he left, Kali and Archie went in. Kali carried a basin filled with water and Archie carrying the cubs.

"I'll take a bath after feeding them, you can just leave it there Kali. Thank you" I smiled at Kali who seemed pleased as he left the room.

"Rio had bought some males yesterday to go gather some bamboos. He said they're gonna start later after you give him further instructions on what to do" Archie said as I began feeding Uno and Dos.

"I'll go talk to him after I take a bath" I said and stared at my cute cubs. "How about the preparation for the cold season? Do we have enough food?" I asked and turned my attention to Archie who nodded in response.

"Yes. Tora, Kei and Lucas have been hunting different animals to smoke. They also got some fruits and other vegetables dried up" Archie said as I finished feeding Uno and Dos.

I handed them to him and took Tres and began feeding him. "And as for the other female's in the village?" I asked.

"I heard from Rio that they are doing well. They have stored enough to last them until the last week of the cold season. They have a lot of males so it isn't a shock that they have stored many" Archie informed me making me hum.

"Alright. Thanks for telling me Archie" I gave him a small peck on the cheeks after I handed tres to him.

"I'll tell Kei to cook some food for you" He said as he took the three cubs and left, leaving me alone to have some privacy to bathe.

I stood up and went over the big basin and dipped myself inside. Hah.. How nice" I hummed as I enjoyed soaking in the water for a few minutes before deciding that it was finally enough and I quickly washed myself and finished my bath.

I look at the corner to see the small closet that I had Tora made for me to store my cloths.

After drying myself, I changed into some soft sheep fur and went outside. 'Hmm maybe I should go look for some lavenders when the drizzle season begins' I thought as I arrived at the living room to find all my mates gathered around the room, even Carlos.

Uno, Dos and Tres were beside their father, trying to catch and bite his tail which made me chuckle a bit.

"Have you guys eaten yet?" I asked and they all nodded. "After I finished eating, take me to the village entrance. That's where we'll start building the walls" I said to Rio who nodded as he handed me a plate filled with meat.

From the looks of it, it seemed to be beef. Along with some sliced oranges, pears and apples.

"Why are you all so quiet? Did something happen?" I asked as I looked at my mates who were unusually quiet. Normally, Kei and Kali would be arguing with something, but they would never take it too far.

And usually, Tora, Lucas and Rio would be out. Either hunting or sparring with each other. But today was different, all of them were here and they were unusually quiet.

I can also feel in their marks that they were somewhat nervous and anxious about something.

I furrowed my brows at them as the looked at each other. As if silently communicating with each other on whether to tell me or not.

"Okay. What is happening. All of of you and unusually quiet, so tell me what's wrong" I dropped my chopsticks and crossed my arms and looked at them.

I saw Archie sigh as he looked at the others. "We don't want to worry you but yesterday while Rio and the other males were out to gather some bamboos, some of the flyers spotted a group of beastmen" Archie said making me raise a brow.

"Rootless beast?" I asked but he shook his head. "No, normal beastmen. Probably from ankther village, not far from here or they're from the another city.

There about 440 males, no female in sight and it seems that they're heading here" Archie said making me nod.

"Alright then, but I don't see the problem in that" I tilted my head in confusion and look at them.

"That's the problem. They aren't here to move in the village but to kidnap the females, the flyer overheard what they were talking about" Rio said making my eyes go wide.

"What?..." My mouth hung open at this information. How can I forget about this? Other than the rootless beast, even the regular males would band togther and attack some smaller villages, desperate to have a female.

That's how harsh this world was, due to the lack of females even the regular males would try to kidnap one and force her to mate with him.

Honestly, when I was reading the novel I thought that this males were like the rootless beast, but more worse as they are conscious of what they are doing.

Having your mark getting cut can sometimes lead to males being crazy, that's why they are banished from the Villages and are classed as rootless beast, but with the regular ones? They're much worse.

"We're planning on moving you and the other female's and the cubs to a safer location" Rio said making me look at him.

"But where? Do we even have enough time to move? We can't just move to another city or village. The nearest village is one week from here, and by that time cold season has already started, and where will we find enough food?" I asked worriedly.

"Don't worry, you and the other female's don't have to go to far from here. Your going to stay in my cave" Carlos said making my eyes go wide.

"But that's your territory. Are you sure your okay with it?" I asked making him huff. "I don't want to do it. But I know how much you care for the other females in this village. You'll be sad if they die or get taken away"  he said making me smile a bit.

'He really is totally different from the novel' I thought and nodded in response. "We need to move you now, along with the other female's. We don't know when they will arrive here so it's best if you guys move now" Tora said making me nod.

"Grab me a basket to put the cubs in and let's leave" I said as Kei rushed somewhere to grab me a basket.

'I hope we won't get discovered and none of the female's get taken away' I thought as Lucas picked me up and we all went outside after Kei handed me the basket.
