Wish I Didnt Owe You Coffee- Chapter 1

Why is it always that I wake up tired from sleep.

You're supposed to wake up, awaken? Awoken? Light filtered through my eyes but it felt much brighter than it should be. I hoped that I would wake up kind of comfortably until hearing extremely rude knocks echoing through my ears.

I shifted uncomfortably under my covers. As a working adult, I still have problems opening the door and greeting guests. Not exactly normal but I don't get many visitors anyway. My eyes wandered to my alarm. Those cheap ones you see in the movie scenes in a highschool movie. Yeah they're real.

7:10am

"Heck.", I grumbled, sitting up and scratching my head slightly. Heavily, I motivated myself out of bed, foot landing on one of my books. Should probably put that away. I pushed it under the bed awkwardly. Not like I'm inviting them in anyways.

Without bothering to unlatch, I opened the door to the limit that it tugged into the chain with a loud clink."Y-Yeah?", I greeted quietly. It was the man from last night. Is he here to beat me up or something? Is it cause I accidentally scolded him? Accidentally? In a frustrated trance? Is he gonna beat me up?! Wait I just thought that.

The thought made me squirm uncomfortably and make the opening of the door smaller. My only defense."Oh it's you! Finally I got the right one.", he said surprisingly nervously.

"Uhm I suppose you did, c-can I help you?", the words escaping me kind of awkwardly. Shit I should try standing my ground like I did last time! In that attempt I straightened myself and reopened the door to its former limited state.

He seemed to have been thinking of something because he jumped at my answer."Yeah, yeah um I just wanted to apologize for disturbing you last night.", he rolled back on his heels then leaned on his right leg, glancing away.

"O-Oh it's fine just I- I just- must've been really tired.", my words totally tripped over each other. So much for standing your ground.  A smile found its place on this handsome man's face lighting up in amusement. Yeah he's good looking I'm just admiring him as one dude to another.

"Ah really? Sorry for catching you in a bad mood, my name's Agustin, neighbor downstairs.", he suddenly pressed his hand next to the door and leaned in. I shrunk uncomfortably. What the fuck is he trying to pull here?

"U-Um my name is Leo Leone...", my voice growing slightly quieter. He let out a a small laugh which I didn't know sounded pleasant or teasing."So Lion Lion?"

I frowned and closed my eyes for a moment. Of course."Yeah,Lion Lion.", I mumble sighed. I really only let Rei call me that."Hey now I don't want anything awkward in between us cause of yesterday so let's be good neighbors.",he said nicely, managing to fit his huge ass hand through the opening of the door.

Awkwardly I took hold and shook it slightly, warmth glowing in my palm a bit."Y-Yeah of course well excuse me I have to um, get ready for stuff...", I glance away from his dark eyes that seemed have a slight twinkle in their depths.

"Work? On a Saturday?"

Shit, it is a Saturday.

"Um n-no I take an online college course so I'm going to library.", I say making up the excuse quickly. I already finished my assignments. I just want to read.

Reading such sinful things outdoors where eyes can see?! For shame! Well excuse me I find very comfortable quiet spots away from the crowds at least I attempt to breathe fresh air. So that makes me less of a shit?

"Can I come? It's good to get to know people since I'm new around."

Fucking heck. He's a social ass.

"Sure."

Jesus help.

After cleaning up, and changing into a soft gray jacket with a deep blue shirt and black jeans, I mentally prepared myself. I had expected him to probably be in his apartment or something since I didn't see him. Well that assumption wasn't true when I opened the door all the way and heard a loud "Ow!". I jumped and gasped.

"Oh wow I'm so sorry, shit!", I quickly shut the door and knelt beside him, my book bag sliding down with a loud thud."It's fine I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, well now you really owe me.", he laughed.

Something seemed off but I'm not going to question anything right now. I'm still nervous."S-Sorry I'll buy you coffee.",I help him up but barely did since he managed just fine. Pulling my hand free from him, I turned around and motioned shyly for him to follow.

Excuse me but,

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Thank you.

Why the hell am I leading a strange acquaintance to a public place where there are lots of people? Cafes are places where you go to meet with friends or, or dates! No, it's not like that, I'm just getting him coffee on the go and we're out! Did I mention there are a lot of people? He might look forward to a conversation and I'm not good in conversations so he'll just awkwardly back off and casually awkward acquaintance acquired.

That's the goal.

"Uh hey Leo.", he clasped his hand on my shoulder and I jumped out of my thoughts."What yes hey?",I turned my head toward him.

"You just passed a cafe right now."

"Wha-", I spun around, my face immediately exploded in heat as my eyes landed on a little coffee shop. Shit, I must've automatically been heading to my reading spot."S-Sorry.", I mumbled, heat returning to his cheeks and immediately turning toward the cafe.

We stepped into the quaint little shop which reminded me of the Internet cafe. Except this one didn't have modern looking plastic without armrests, no round laminated wooden tables. No TV's, rows of computers in another area, bustling college students clamoring and cursing.

It was kind of quiet. It was nice. It's my type of shop. Small square tables with round seated tables but straight European armrests. Everything looked like it froze in time. A European American hidden cafe.

The door closed behind us with a jingle and a young boy ran out from behind the curtains of a doorway that led to behind the counter. He tripped on his way but he seemed like a cute kid.
That doesn't mean I'm a pedo, I'm into weird shit but not kids, they have a future."Hello welcome to Treven, watcha- what would you like?",the 9 year old looking kid asked leaning on the counter and raising his arms onto the top.

"Uh what would you like?", I held my hands behind my back uncomfortably, glancing at the lean man. Rolling back on the balls of his feet, he scanned across the chalk written menu."I don't really like coffee, I'll have the milk tea, extra sugar.", he stepped toward the counter. Wow I never took him for the sweets kind of person.

I glanced at him, well would have been a glance but they stayed there longer then they should have. Wow he really seems more handsome in this lighting and view. His light caramel colored skin gave off a glow, an attracting one. Yet my 'admiring' was soon stopped as Agustin's head suddenly turned to me. Did he catch me staring? I swear I saw him smirk for a split second, is he internally making fun of me? Did it look that gay? Why am I still overthinking?

Oh my god kill me.

"What would ya like?",the brown haired kid called to me. My mouth gaped to the boy trying to remember what I was going to get."H-Hot water and lemon.", my voice cracking slightly. Oh hell please just bury me six feet under.

I swear I heard a snicker escape Agustin. I have many regrets and your being here is becoming one of them you-- Mmm just calm down. IswearIllbetheonelaughingatyousoon.

Ahaha once again, don't get worked up over a stranger.

My eyebrows automatically furrowed and glanced at the cream colored wood."I'll be getting your drinks.", the kid seemed to awkwardly backed off and shuffled away. I pursed my lips and stepped toward a two seater."Hey, hey Leo!", Agustin stepped back from counter and toward the table.

"I'm sorry did I offend you?", he sat across from me. I bit my lip, deciding what to say. Nah, you just wounded some of my nonexistent pride."N-No I'm just- tired.", my brain nearly confusing it with 'frustrated'. He smiled apologetically, but my eyes immediately darted away as soon as the corners of his mouth pulled up.

Some dark hair of mine brushed onto my nose as my head unconsciously bowed down. My finger tapped nervously, furiously not trying to make eye contact since that might mean conversation. But the silence was, to my dismay, broken.

"So how long have you been living in those apartments.", he said, ripping a napkin apart slowly.
"U-Uh two years.",I replied quietly.
"I just moved in a few days ago."
"Y-Yeah I saw you moving in, NOT TO BE CREEPY OR ANYTHING- you know it's it's just uh I heard a racket and um... Sounds in the night.", my voice quieting at the end, cheeks flushing pink with a few people glancing temporarily at us.

I glanced at him nervously, a blank expression on his face. Another awkward silence passed until he began laughing nervously."Ah I've been discovered.", an airiness in his voice. Oh shit I've made things awkward.

"U-Uh I'll uh I'll go see if our things are ready.", I jumped up and stumbled toward the counter. Perfect timing, the kid just set pastel blue mugs on the counter."$4.28", he held out his hand. I fumbled with my wallet bring out a 5 bill, mumbling "Keep the change."

The hand that was carrying was beginning to shake unevenly since I had a weak grip."Careful.", he said, grasping at my hand to support the mug's weight. My breath hitched at the sudden contact and pulled it back like it got burnt.

Cause he's hot?

Woah now I'm a lot of things but I'm not gay.

I think.

"By the way, I'm not usually one to snoops and shut but I've found something out that I didn't think someone as timid as you would like.", he leaned back on his chair and sipped the milk tea. My heart suddenly accelerated in a panic, I glanced around before noticing that my book bag's flap was opened.

It felt like all the oxygen in my body was crawling into through my neck, feeling stiff, I sat down. I cleared my thought and took a deep breath through my nose, trying to force a slight smile."Ahahaha really, wh-what could that b-be?", the words quietly escaping.

He slid the paperback onto the table ever so slowly with his index finger."'The Things You Do'? Wow are you a virgin? I've never seen someone openly carry erotica.",his friendly aura suddenly gone.
How'd he...
Why...

"Motherfucker."
