Twenty-three
When Jeongguk returned home from work one night, he found himself walking into a mini bakery.
The smell of the warm pastries was what got his attention first and then his eyes widened as he took in a dozen boxes of baked goods arranged neatly on the kitchen counter. All these sweets... why were they here? Well the only possible answer to that was Taehyung. Although before Jeongguk could've jumped into the conclusion that his boyfriend for some reason rode them into bankruptcy by purchasing all these treats, Taehyung himself emerged from down the hall.
"You're finally back. Hurry, I've got a surprise for you." Taehyung displayed his boxy smile. He approached Jeongguk, straight away taking his bag and setting it on the ground there before dragging him into the kitchen.
In the next moment, Jeongguk was left staring down at the boxes. After quizzically looking at the pastry boxes for a good few seconds, he eventually turned to Taehyung with confusion masking his face. Jeongguk really tried to understand why Taehyung had gotten him all these pastries but saw no realistic reason. They even had some leftover chocolate cake in the fridge from the other day's dinner.
But seeing the starry look on Taehyung's excited face filled Jeongguk with this satisfaction, also not wanting to disappoint the other. So he quickly smiled.
"Thanks?"
Damn it. That really shouldn't have come out more like a question. However Taehyung's smile had faded away a bit and he was the one with a confused expression now.
"Thanks for what? I haven't even told you what these pastries are for."
Oh.
A sheepish chuckle left Jeongguk. "Sorry, go on then."
He watched Taehyung smile back at him before reaching for something that was also on the counter there. It was a camera- the average kind used to film short videos and such. Taehyung held the device up in front of Jeongguk.
"So I thought of something that we could do together." He started like he had been rehearsing this dialogue way before Jeongguk got back. "I see couples do it all the time on YouTube. They have vlogs and film each other in their daily lives. It's really fun."
To put it in the briefest way (because about a billion things were running through Jeongguk's head at the moment), Jeongguk was flabbergasted with a hint of uncertainty flashing through his mind. Mainly because Taehyung wasn't the type of person who liked filming or recording himself; he even hated taking selfies.
"So you want to start a vlog?"
Taehyung groaned. "What- no. We'd just be filming each other doing fun couple-y stuff."
"How is that not a vlog?"
"Because I'm not gonna post them anywhere. It's just for us to watch back together years from now or when we miss each other."
Jeongguk didn't reply right away. His eyes narrowed themselves as he studied Taehyung, still hooked on the term 'miss each other' that the man had used. And he could only come to one apparent conclusion-
"Are you planning to run away or something?"
Almost immediately, a hard hit landed on his chest. "What are you talking about? Look, this is just for fun. It'll take less than ten minutes. Come on..."
Jeongguk sighed, not saying anything yet until his gaze drifted to the forgotten boxes of sweets there. He gestured to the boxes. "Wait is that why these pastries are here? For the video?"
The other nodded.
A pastry-tasting video? Oh boy... Jeongguk felt extremely conflicted. He was still in his work attire with his necktie barely loosened from around his neck. But he wasn't going to use the excuse that he was tired from work to get out of doing this.
It's just that he was really, really surprised. That's all.
He felt like there was another reason as to why Taehyung had suddenly indulged a massive amount of his time and energy into preparing all this. Not to forget the obvious fact that the brunet hated working a camera.
And then a tiny voice inside him stated out a possibility of why Taehyung might be doing this. He could be trying to distract you...
It made sense because almost everyday now at work, Jeongguk would received a phone call from Taehyung asking if he was having a bad day so far. Jeongguk would always reply with a simple 'everything's fine' though his sometimes anger-controlled tone betrayed his words and knowing Taehyung, he would've definitely pick up on that.
Then it all became more clear- Taehyung was still worried about Jeongguk's confession relating to his anger problem from the other day.
Just like that, all of Jeongguk's hesitance seemed to have flown out the window. It actually felt nice seeing someone take so much effort into setting up something like this for him. So-
"Fine, let's do it."
"Yay!" Taehyung let out and didn't waste a single second as he gently nudged Jeongguk to take a seat onto one of the chairs there at the kitchen table. He retrieved a random box from the counter and set it in front of the raven-head before proceeding to switch the camera on.
Meanwhile Jeongguk casually lifted a hand to loosen his necktie a little so that it hung lowly on his chest. He watched Taehyung struggling with the camera as he unbuttoned the first few buttons of his shirt. A thought suddenly popped into his head.
"How much did you spend on all these pastries?"
"Oh," Taehyung momentarily froze before continuing to find the on switch on the darn camera. "I actually only bought two different cakes but the lady at the bakery was telling me how she'd give me all these extra pastries if I bought three cakes and so I..." He showed a shy smile.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't say no."
It was really fine with Jeongguk. He didn't care about the money. He was more focused on how his boyfriend still couldn't say 'no' to total strangers. That's actually one of the reasons Jeongguk first fell for Taehyung.
"It's fine Sweethea- do you need help with that?"
After shaking his head reluctantly and groaning for ten more seconds, Taehyung eventually caved in and handed the camera over to the other. He felt like he had just been slapped across the face when Jeongguk took less than a second to turn it on.
Later with the camera aimed at Jeongguk who had a fork in a hand, a piece of what looked like to be lemon cake rested on the table in front of him. Now Jeongguk loved making pastry and all these other sweet delights but cakes were the least of what he usually made in the kitchen. So he stared at the sugary treat, an unpleasant look taking over his face, mind coughing up ridiculous insinuations like how one bite of this cake could possibly lead him into early diabetes. No, he's too young for that-
"Jeongguk don't forget to smile. Also, after you take a bite tell the camera how it tastes and whether you like it or not." A directive voice sounded from behind the camera.
A sigh left Jeongguk as he rolled his eyes which wasn't something that he did very often unlike his boyfriend. The fork in his hand hovered above the icing coating the top of the lemon cake. The metal was about to slice into the soft cake when Jeongguk suddenly stopped his action.
He looked directly at the camera.
"Why am I the only one in the video? Isn't this suppose to be a thing we could do together?"
Then Taehyung's innocent smile revealed something; he was never going to be in the video. He was sneaky as he'd seem to have no intentions of featuring himself in the video from the start. And of course Jeongguk wasn't going to let Taehyung get off the hook like that.
"Come here." He held out a hand after setting the fork down. When Taehyung shook his head, Jeongguk smirked and got up from his chair. In one stride forward, he'd manage to get a hold of the other's wrist.
"No, I don't want to."
"It's your idea so you're an important element in each vlog."
"I told you it's not a vlog!"
"Stop squirming or I'll-"
"Or you'll what?"
After a lot of struggling with a tiny bit of manhandling (Jeongguk had no choice), somehow Taehyung ended up on Jeongguk's lap with them both back on the chair from before. The camera was in the brunet's stretched out hand and the rotatable screen was flipped so that they could view their faces as the video rolled.
Through the screen, a visible pout rested over Taehyung's lips.
"Who's not smiling now?" Jeongguk teased.
"Shut up," Taehyung then looked down to see the other's arm secured tightly around his waist, keeping him firmly seated. "Gguk, you don't have hold me down. I'm not gonna run away."
"Let's not take any chances. Now here, you go first." Jeongguk with his other free hand lifted a piece of the cake on the fork towards Taehyung.
Another groan left Taehyung as this was clearly not how he'd plan this to play out. He could already imagining himself cringing later as he watched over this recorded video. Nonetheless, there was cake here and it helped a lot with the situation because he loved any types of cake (except coffee cake).
He even went to the point of wearing a t-shirt that said 'when in doubt, eat cake' on his first year at college which drove Jimin insane because the t-shirt also had a giant fork bedazzled onto it in glittery grey stones.
Anyway so Taehyung happily parted his lips moving his head forward to take a bite out of the cake piece. Although nothing but air entered his mouth because the fork was suddenly a few inches away from him. He passed an annoyed look over to the man behind him.
Jeongguk chuckled and nodded. "Okay, okay. Here."
Upon believing those words, Taehyung moved in for a second attempt at tasting the cake but as hell's minions were at their work right now, the sweet treat moved away from him again. This time he huffed out trying to portray an angry demeanor.
"Jeongguk I swear-" He squirmed in the hold he was in.
"Fine I'm sorry. That's the last. I promise."
Taehyung stopped his relentless struggling and narrowed his eyes at Jeongguk for a moment as to see if the other was speaking the truth. The fork then moved closer until it rested right in front of his mouth. Still with hesitance flashing through his eyes, Taehyung glanced between the cake and Jeongguk for more than five times which looked really silly.
After letting out a sigh, Taehyung finally convinced himself that the other wasn't going to mess with him again so he moved forward and this time the cake did reach him; not in his mouth but on the side of his lips, leaving a huge area of his face there to be covered with the cream from the cake.
"You're gonna get it now." He let out and began his squirming again, this time turning around to get better access to Jeongguk so that he could smear some cake onto his face too. Jeongguk saw this and kept a tighter hold onto the other.
And so they went on with their innocent play-fight, genuine laughs filling the apartment to occasional screams (on Taehyung's part) here and there. Lastly after they were both a panting mess, Taehyung was still seated on the other's lap and also left with the cream on his face as Jeongguk stayed untouched, displaying the clear winner of their little fight.
When Jeongguk felt Taehyung lean back onto his chest with his heart pounding through his back at the rush of them playing like that, a small smile made its way to his face. It was such a precious sight to see his boyfriend all adorable like this.
Jeongguk's eyes moved to the camera still recording on the table there. He lifted the device and held it out in front of them both.
"Hey..." He whispered out. When Taehyung turned towards him, Jeongguk inched his face closer to him. "The point of this video was for us to taste the cakes right?"
Taehyung nodded, his eyes wide and very aware of the other getting closer and closer to him. He first felt the hot breath of Jeongguk fan against his own lips. Their eyes were boring into each other before the darker pair moved downwards focusing on the cake cream still smudged all over the side of Taehyung's lips.
Then in the smoothest manner, Jeongguk swiped his tongue over the cream not really relishing the taste of the lemon cream but rather the taste of the skin underneath it.
He did it again, slower this time and felt Taehyung exhaled breathily with a slight whimper subtly present in his breath. So it felt only right to do it again. Only this time Jeongguk rolled his tongue more directly onto the other's lips, loving the softness of them against his wet tongue.
Jeongguk knew he had successfully turned the other on when he felt a hand move up the side of his face. Taehyung had his neck turned to the side in that position to face the other behind him properly though he felt like he'd be jumping into a straddling pose not long from now. Their eyes met once again and this time the playfulness in them both had burnt out only to be replaced by another feeling; a desire, if you will... a crave for each othe-
Okay, no need for the detailed explanations.
They were both horny for each other.
There.
Both dove in for the long-awaited kiss although their lips stopped millimeters away from each other when the camera suddenly beeped loudly, signaling that the video had stopped on its own due to the battery dying.
That fucking beep was like a splash of water over both of them and it definitely ruined the moment alright. Taehyung was the first to get up, his mind racing with endless thoughts as he licked over his lips.
"I- I better put these pastries away." He gestured to the counter where the boxes were at.
Meanwhile Jeongguk stood up too, putting the camera back onto the table. He didn't know what to think or what to say to excuse himself so he ended up clearing his throat.
"I'll just... go take a shower then."
With that he made his way out of the kitchen feeling very unsettled at the same time leaving a blushing Taehyung behind there.
