Chapter 22

"Drive."

One word was all it took for his driver to know that his Boss was very angry and that for his own sake he had better step on the gas.

"Yes Sir."

When they finally arrived Omkara's steps were neither fast or slow but the coldness in his eyes was apparent to even the security guard that quickly bowed down his head to greet the owner of the building.

"Good evening Boss."

Clearly not giving anyone the time of day Omkara walked pass the scared guard that was blocking his way towards his private elevator. Once the door closed Omkara took out his phone to look at the text message that Khanna had sent.

"Accident? Here in my building?! Useless!"

Khanna who was standing by the elevator could see the yellow arrow light from above indicating that someone was in the private elevator and his heart was pounding uncontrollably.

"Oh no. He's mad. How else did he get here so fast!"

As the arrow got closer and closer to the designated floor number Khanna tried to swallow down his fear when he saw the door slowly open. His Boss's face had no expression but when he looked down at his Boss's hand he knew that his Boss was mad. The fingers gripping the cellphone was turning white and he could hear a slight crackling sound.

"Boss."

Walking coldly pass his assistant Omkara went directly towards his desk to see that his laptop was still open. When he saw Gauri on his screen his heart that felt like it was being squeezed this entire time slightly loosened.

"You said Ms. Sharma met with an accident Khanna. Why do I see her still diligently working?"

Khanna hasn't seen his Boss's dark angry gaze for a very long time especially directed and him and with the cold tone in his Boss's voice Khanna felt his soul exiting his body.

"Bo..Boss. I said small accident. Ms. Sharma had injured her finger."

Seeing his Boss glance back at the screen Khanna was sweating bullets when his Boss's brows started to furrow.

"How did it happen?"

"Ms...Ms. Riddhima accidently bumped into Ms. Sharma while she was cutting Boss."

Omkara could now see the piece of silk around her finger that was now dyed with her blood.

"Why did she not go get it looked at? We have a first-aid kit in every floor Khanna."

Omkara's voice was getting colder and colder by the minute and Khanna was now feeling that he was about to faint. His knees was starting to buckle as his Boss kept staring at him with those dark black eyes.

"Bo..Boss. How can I just go? Ms. Sharma will know that someone is watching her. Besides I figured she knew where it was and decided it wasn't necessary."

"Not necessary? Not necessary? So you think her bleeding is okay? Do you think I'd be happy to see her injured finger wrapped in some dirty fabric Khanna? Do you?"

At this point Khanna just wanted to blackout so that he could wakeup and start a whole new day but instead he is standing here dealing with the wrath of his angry Boss.

"Sorry Boss. I was wrong. I will go right now!"

When he saw Khanna frantically try to run towards the elevator Omkara angrily shouted.

"Stop! You are no longer needed. Go home Khanna. There better not be a next time." Omkara warned.

"Ye..Yes Boss."

Khanna knew that it was best to run home before his Boss decides to take things out on him and now that he saw first hand just how important Ms. Sharma was he'd be damn to make the same mistake twice.

Omkara hated the feeling of being helpless. He sat there for a good half an hour watching Gauri work but every time she'd accidentally hit the injured finger her face showed signs of pain. He tried to think of ways to approach her without raising any suspicions but for the first time in his life he was left with nothing.

"Damnit."

It was now 7PM and to think that he'd have another hour to go before Gauri would leave made it unbearable. He even tried to get Rudra to have Bhavya text Gauri and ask her to go home early but when he saw her continue working he was out of ideas.

"Well it just can't be helped." Omkara mumbled to himself.

Grabbing his jacket Omkara headed towards the fabric room where Gauri was still trying to cut out all her pieces so that she could start sewing them together tomorrow.

"Ms. Sharma."

For a moment Gauri could have sworn that voice was Dilpreet but when she turned around she was shocked that it was her Boss.

"Bo...Boss...."

Gauri never thought that her Boss would make his way down here to the fabric room and knowing that most likely she and him was the only one left in the building right now made her extremely nervous.

"I am leaving earlier today so you must also go home Ms. Sharma so that the security guard can lock up. You can stay back later tomorrow."

When he saw her nervously try to grab her things to follow him towards the entrance he knew that his decision was right.

"I can't reveal myself just yet. She'd definitely will distant herself from me." Omkara thought to himself.

"I..I'm ready now Boss."

"Let's go."

As they made their way towards the elevator Gauri didn't know why her Boss had stopped walking.

"Bo..Boss?"

"I can see that you have hurt yourself. I think you should disinfect it before you suffer from infection."

Gauri: ......

As he sat her down Omkara took out the first aid kit that was stored on every floor and began to lay out the disinfectant as well as the bandaid.

"I ...I can do it myself Boss." Gauri stuttered.

Omkara could clearly see that she was nervous around him so he did his best to respect her wishes.

"Okay. Let me know if you need help though."

He could hear her breath of a sigh of relief and his lips automatically curves up into a grin as she watched her dress her wound.

"I...I'm done. Sorry for making you wait Boss."

"Let's go."

When he pushed the button to the elevator he saw that Gauri was reluctant to follow him inside.

"I..I'll use the employee elevator Boss."

"Come. We are both going home. No need to use separate elevators."

Before she could try to change her Boss's mind she felt him grab her arm and the next thing she knew she was now standing beside her Boss.

The ride down felt so uncomfortable since all she could hear was her Boss's regular breathing whereas she was afraid that her's were erratic.

"You seem to be very nervous Ms. Sharma."

"I..."

"It's okay. No need to be nervous."

When she saw him take a step further away from her Gauri felt a bit guilty.

"Boss..I didn't think you would ever..."

"I know. But it's good to be cautious towards people you are not familiar with."

When he saw her shoulders finally relax Omkara felt that at least he was able to calm her nerves for now.

The door finally opened and the two walked out the front doors together.

"There is no bus. Do you have someone picking you up Ms. Sharma?"

"I can wait at the coffee shop and ask a friend to come pick me up."

"I don't feel that it is safe. If you don't mind I can drop you off."

"No..No..I wouldn't want to trouble you Boss."

"It's more troublesome if I have to worry about your safety Ms. Sharma."

At this point Gauri did not know what she should do. Her Boss was just standing there like an unmoving mountain waiting for her to obediently follow him to his car.

"Um..Let me at least call my friend to let her know where I am at."

When she saw her Boss's smile Gauri knew that her knew why she needed to make that call.

"Boss..I.."

"It's okay Ms. Sharma. Call your friend. I don't mind. At least if something happened they would know who you were with."

Gauri felt her cheeks getting hot as her Boss had seen through her plan. Even though he was her Boss and was well known throughout but in the end he was still a man. So Gauri quickly called Bhavya to let her know that her Boss would be driving her home at this very moment and when she heard her friend scream in excitement Gauri wanted to hang up immediately.

"It seems your friend is more than happy that I am taking you home Ms. Sharma." Omkara teased.

"Well..."

"Let's go."

When she saw her Boss's driver open the door for her Gauri was trying her best to calm her pounding heart as she sat right next to her Boss. But then she smelled a familiar scent inside his car.

Omkara could also smell the lunch that Gauri had packed for him and he quickly pushed the lunch box to the far corner of the car.

"Does the car smell bad Ms. Sharma? I apologize. I had to eat lunch today inside my car."

"No..No...it's fine."

She could hear him chuckle at her nervousness and couldn't help but glance over to see her Boss's face.

"He's running his fingers through his hair....just like....Dilpreet." Gauri momentarily though to herself.

"Is something wrong Ms. Sharma?"

"No..Nothing."
