Chapter 17
When she came right beside his shiny black bike it finally dawned on her that she would really have to hold on to Dilpreet who was now staring at her patiently.
"What is wrong?"
"No..nothing."
Smirking under his mask Omkara was so happy to see Gauri stuttering and being flustered for once. "She must be very nervous." Om thought. "This is a good sign." His grin was now so wide that his eyes were smiling too.
"Why are you just standing there?"
When he still couldn't get her to budge he noticed that her helmet wasn't strapped on and with a slight jerk she was now facing him. He was enjoying seeing her eyes tremble in surprise as he carefully grab the strap that was dangling on the side of the helmet.
Feeling his fingers slightly graze her chin Gauri froze. This was the first time in her life she has let a man come so close to her and the pounding of her heart was starting to make her feel uncomfortable.
"I..I..can do it."
With her slightly pink cheeks and shaky hands trying to wrestle the strap from his hand Omkara quickly snap the strap on and softly grabbed her hand.
"Too late...all done."
At first Gauri didn't care that Dilpreet was wearing a face mask every time they met but now it was starting to annoy her because she could tell by his eyes that he was laughing at her. Then when he scooted up a bit from his seat to make room for her in the back her body stiffened up but she tried her best to calm herself down. She didn't want Ajay or Ishana to question her again.
"Hop on and hold tight."
When he felt her small arms tremble around his waist Omkara's smile grew even wider under his mask until he heard Ajay's voice that made him grumble. "Damn."
Ajay: Gauri! Who is he?! It's dangerous! Get down I will take you home I promise.
Ishana who also wanted to know who the mysterious man was also tried to convince Gauri to get down.
"Gauri do you even really know him? Ajay is right. Come with us. He can take us both home."
As he tried to come closer Gauri could see Ajay try to grab her arm once again but this time she held onto Dilpreet. When Ajay saw that he was unable to pry Gauri's arm away from Omkara's waist his brow furrowed in anger.
"Gauri!!"
Gauri looks at the angry man in confusion.
"If we are talking about knowing one another I would have to say I know Dilpreet a bit better than you and Ishana. Ajay....we technically just met today and that too... for less than an hour combined. And Ishana...with you... we are merely acquaintances because you know nothing about me....but with Dilpreet I actually spent a nice dinner with him. So I would say I feel very comfortable leaving with Dilpreet."
Ajay: What? You guys...were together....together?
Omkara felt elated when he saw the look on Ajay's face being slapped by the fact him and Gauri had dinner together. Granted it was a dinner that included two more people but still it was a dinner he would never forget. Purposely locking eyes with Ajay Omkara made sure to give both his employee a cold glare before pushing down the helmet shield and cranking up his motorcycle.
When he manage to leave the front of his building and onto the big road towards Bhavya and Gauri's house he felt on top of the world.
"With her arms holding me and the beautiful stars lighting the night sky ....this is just perfect." Om thought to himself.
Hearing the loud engine from the motorcycle caused Gauri to flinch and grab onto Omkara even tighter but when she realize the speed at which they were going her grip on his waist loosened.
"Um Dilpreet..."
"Yes?"
"At this rate it would take 2 hours for you to arrive at my house. Did you not notice all the honking?"
"Honking?"
Only when Gauri brought it to his attention did he notice all the angry drivers behind him who were now resorting to yelling obscenities.
Man: Get out of the way F*&ker!!
Man 2: If you can't drive take the damn bus !
Omkara wanted to stop his motorcycle and let those men know who they were actually yelling at but when he slightly felt a tug on his jacket he forgot that tonight he was Dilpreet.
"Dilpreet? Can't you go a bit faster?" whispered Gauri.
Her pleading voice was making him sweat because he thought that he was already going fast. As he tries to speed up a bit Omkara slightly loss balance forcing the bike to sway to and fro.
Gauri: "Dilpreet!"
Thankfully Omkara was able to control his bike again as he assures Gauri that everything was fine.
"It's Okay...Okay...."
Meanwhile not far behind them was Khanna in his boss's black mercedes.
"What is going on? Why is boss dressed like that again?! I just hope he's able to take the woman home safely."
Omkara was now struggling to ride his bike with everyone either honking at him or yelling at him and without any warning his bike hit a bump on the road.
"Dilpreet!" Gauri yelled as the bike was veering off the road.
Omkara knew there was no way to stop and all he could do was pry Gauri's arms from his waist and quickly push her toward a nearby bush as he skidded along the hard gravel with his bike now pinning him on his side.
When Gauri got up from the bush with just a minor cut on her palm from the branches she immediately ran towards Dilpreet who was struggling to push the bike off of his left leg.
"Dilpreet are you alright?!" ask a frantic Gauri.
When she heard him grunt a bit she notices blood dripping from his left arm and leg.
"You are hurt bad Dilpreet! We need to get you to the hospital!"
Luckily for Omkara that since he was already driving at a slow speed that all of his injuries were just minor cuts and bruises but it still hurt.
"I'm okay Gauri. I'm just scraped up pretty bad but not enough to go to the hospital."
"Stop saying that! I can see the blood!" Gauri worriedly yelled at him.
Not wanting her to worry so much Omkara stood up and took off his ripped up black leather jacket to show her his badly road burn on his arm.
"See...it's not that bad. Just bad scratches. Come let me get the bike up again."
Her hand immediately grabbed his arm.
"You still want to ride that bike? Dilpreet it's too dangerous. You don't even ride well. Let...me...drive it."
Omkara was a bit surprise at her offer as his eyes question if he had heard wrong.
"You drive? You know how?"
Gauri: Well I've driven a motor scooter before so I think I can drive a motorcycle. It seem to be slightly similar.
With his gaze watching her Gauri knew she was fidgeting because she didn't want him to take it the wrong way when she said he didn't ride his own bike well but at the same time she knew he was in pain.
"Dilpreet...I don't mean to....I just...."
"It must be my lucky night."
Looking up to meet his gaze that once made her a bit nervous Gauri could see it soften.
"Lucky night?"
"Yes...It will be my first time holding on to a woman on a motorcycle."
When he heard her laugh Omkara also chuckled along.
Gauri: Dilpreet....you sure are surprisingly different.
When Omkara went to his bike to pick it back up for Gauri to get on he saw a scared Khanna running his way.
"What the hell...."
Before Khanna could even approach them he made eye contact with the devil of the night. His feet froze as Omkara stared at him as if saying "Take one more step and you will be buried 6 feet under!"
Gauri who was wondering why Dilpreet was giving off such a scary chilly vibe was about to turn around to see who he was staring at only to have him grab her arm.
"Come Gauri."
When she was about to hop on the bike Gauri noticed Dilpreet's face mask was covered in dust and as she instinctively reached out to pull it off his quick hand was preventing her to do so.
"It's dirty Dilpreet...what about your allergies?"
"Don't worry about it. We should leave before Bhavya starts to worry."
Gauri knew Dilpreet was right because if she didn't return home soon Bhavya would be blowing up her phone.
"You're right."
As the two put on their helmets Gauri scooted up to make room for Dilpreet who's strong arms were now wrapped around her waist. His breath against her neck and ear when he whispered sent chills down her spine as he whispered "My life is in your hands."
