It only took a week for all the cake eating to take it's toll. They were eating healthy right after the wedding but it couldn't hold back the tsunami of sick that was already raging in. All it took was one outing for barbeque and everything went south for the three of them. One check from Sakura and it was confirmed. They had stomach flu. Turns out all the excessive icing they were eating behind Naruto and Shikamaru's back was coming back to haunt them. Now they were bed ridden and to save time they were all sharing Boruto's room till they got better. 

Once the beds were moved in from Shikadai's and Hima's room they were settled down for the long haul. Naruto was cooking while Shikamaru had the task to empty out the buckets that were being filled with sticky white and pale yellow liquid. The twins were lucky they had avoided this disaster. Shikamaru had stepped out to see how Naruto was coming along with a nutrition source that won't end up in the toilet. 

"Hey I feel like a little kid again." Shikadai murmured, two moans of pain gave indication that they were listening to him. He smiled. "I remember when I used to get sick and Dad would take care of me, my former mother said I was the total opposite when I was sick. It annoyed her to no end so Dad had to look after me. I used to give him so much trouble but I loved the attention I got."

"I know how you feel. You cry out in pain and someone is there to soothe you. I like that a lot Mom said I say a lot of delirious crap whenever I have a fever." Boruto laughed a bit. "But the best part now is that I have company during my sick times."

Himawari chuckled through the throbbing pain in her lower abdomen. It was strange she hasn't puked once but she was still reeling from the pain. Then there was a sticky feeling between her legs that hid under the blankets. 'Did I wet the bed.' She wondered in horror. She felt disgusting and she was too embarrassed to call her Papa or Dad. But she couldn't move, she started sobbing in frustration. 

Boruto and Shikadai who were talking over her bed found the strength to move to her bedside. They were gonna crawl in to comfort her but as soon as they pulled her blankets back they saw blood. "Mom! Hima's bleeding!" Naruto heard that and fell his heart gave away, Shikamaru who was feeding the twins was the first one there to see Hima's lower smeared with blood from her rubbing her legs together to somehow  keep herself busy from crying out. 

Naruto came in and immediately saw what was wrong. His little girl was turning into a woman step by step. She whined and curled into a ball still sobbing. Naruto was prepared for this. He scooped her up. "Shikamaru change the sheets, Hima and I are going to go bond." Naruto stalked out shushing her sweetly.

"Is she going to be okay." Boruto asked a little frightened at the blood, a wave of vertigo hit him before he hurled into the bucket. 

"She is she's just experiencing her first period. Normal bodily functions for a female." Shikamaru explained putting his sons back into bed. 

"The cramps must be hitting hard." Shikadai said as he recalled Cho-Cho's very descriptive essay on the subject. Shikamaru nodded and headed down to get the food Naruto finished cooking. 

Himawari was placed under the shower and sighed in relief at the warm water. Naruto hummed as he cleaned her up. "Hima don't worry your just taking a step to womanhood. This is called your period. Now I know your a smart, curious girl so you know why this happens every month. Now the first time is going to be batshit brutal. But I'm ready to take care of you."

Himawari smiled as she listened to her Papa talk about all the ways he was going to take care of her. She was too young to take the pills so hot water bottles were going to have to do. Plus lots of chocolate was in order. When she was wrapped up in a dark colored towel Naruto hurried her to her room where he demonstrated how to put on and remove a pad, how often she should change said pad and where to dispose it.

"Since this is your first time I want you to count the days. When your finished we'll track it to the next time your due so it doesn't surprise us." Naruto smiled as he moved her into her underwear. He pulled out a free flowing dress since he knew from hearing Ino and Sakura whine that close fitted close were annoying during the time. Himawari smiled as she was hoisted up and carried to the kitchen. Naruto set water to boil and pulled out a empty water bottle.

Himawari could feel an uncomfortable sensation creeping up on her and suddenly her Papa's arms were very hot, it was unbearable. She whined like a little kid and started wriggling around it was like a prickling sensation all over her body. Naruto frowned a bit and set her down to sit in the chair. "I'm sorry it's just so yucky!" She said pulling on her dress.

"It's okay I understand," Naruto smiled as he checked on the water. It was getting there. Shikamaru came downstairs and gave the girl a gentle smile. When the hot water bottle was done Naruto used the rest of the water to make so creamy hot chocolate. Himawari felt like she was in heaven as she sipped the warm drink. It pooled in her stomach and made her shiver in delight. She nursed her cup while aware that her father had placed the water bottle on her stomach. 

"Papa, Daddy thank you." She said while a air of content flowed around her. Shikamaru ruffled her hair while Naruto gave a sigh of relief. If he was to be honest he's been worried for this moment.

He knew Hima-chan was approaching that stage in life and he felt oddly sad that no woman would be able to help her through this stage. So he took it upon himself to become that mother. He poured over books about menstruation and at some point he had to give props to women who have to endure this torture. He then brought his questions to his female friends. At first they were wary of talking about it since it was a girls only thing but Ino pointed out that Naruto was the only one of their batch who decided to ask point blank about this instead of beating around the bush.

"Plus he's doing it for his daughters, that's a real man." Ino complimented at the time. So that allowed the group to open up about their experiences and how they dealt with it. Sakura tagged along on a pad shopping trip and told him what worked for girls Himawari's age and what will work as she grows up. Naruto was eternally grateful for the female friends he has. One thing that did worry him a bit was that they felt the constant need to eat chocolate and other sweets. At the moment Himawari had a bad habit of forgetting to brush her teeth.

'I'll be fine, whatever she needs I'll give it her.' Naruto thought looking down at his sweet chubby faced lady in the making.

Later after binging on chocolate after dinner she was settled down for night time. Naruto had readied a new bottle and tucked her in. When Naruto ensured the boy took their medicine he left closing the door behind him.

"Are you alright Hima?" Boruto asked worriedly as he propped himself up.

"Yeah Papa took care of me all the way, the cramps don't hurt as much." She answered laying on her back.

"I'm glad." Shikadai said smiling in the dark.

"I sneaked in some chocolate, do you guys want some." Hima asked as she fiddled with the wrapper. If it was anything else the brothers would've whined to move but since it was for chocolate they found a way to their sister's bed. They snacked on the treat and talked in hushed tones and eventually dosed off.

In the morning Naruto and Shikamaru stared at their chocolate stained faces as they snuggled together. "Well at least I know she's a team player. Never leave a man out on the good chocolate." Shikamaru nodded in agreement as he pulled out a small digital camera.

"They're gonna relapse aren't they." Shikamaru stated snapping a few shots.

"Get the buckets while I start breakfast." Naruto said turning away. "All my good cooking down the toilet again." Shikamaru chuckled and picked up the now cold water bottle and headed out.
