Morning Preparations
Shikamaru couldn't keep the smile off his face. It was certainly a joy to shove his happiness in other people's face. Particularly to the ones who irked him. His wedding was tonight and he laid content on his stomach as he listened to the hum of the tattoo needle. Naruto was on the next cot beside him holding his hand. They were promptly blindfolded early in the morning before the sun rose and led to the studio by their friends for the markings.
As to why he was feeling smug about marrying Naruto was the little bird that whispered in his ear. Temari was here, as a Genin on an over night mission. He had heard she was recently granted permission to set foot in the Sand again but could not reside there. It certainly made meeting up with her teammates difficult. He chuckled a bit at the predicament. He wasn't about to but in either, Gaara had promised a less violent form of revenge and he granted it.
"Shikamaru what the fuck are you laughing about." Naruto gritted his teeth as the needle drilled along his skin.
"Naruto, the joys of today shall not be wrecked. I'll be damned if I let that happen." Naruto hummed as his lover talked in tongues.
"I have a feeling your going to be the troublesome one today." Shikamaru could feel the smirk on Naruto's lips and smiled all the same.
"If you say so,"

Naruto smiled brightly as he ran up to the other Kages who were just arriving. He was dressed in his greeting outfit and was the gem in a lot of people's eyes as they watched the blond Hokage greet his foreign friends.
Naruto hugged them briefly as he didn't want them to touch his sore back form the tattooing early this morning. They did noticed the wrapping for the tattoo on his wrist though and Gaara was itching to see both later tonight. Naruto led them to their resting place all the while gushing on how everything was in motion. Once he got them to the hotel that had been reserved two months in advance for his guests to be comfortable Naruto was whisked away by Ino who was saying it was time for the decorating of the cakes he made.
He smiled and waved them off as Ino dragged him to the space they had rented for the baking.
"It shall be a wonderful wedding," Mei smiled at Naruto's retreating back.
"No doubt about that." A said with a hearty laugh. Bee was already buzzing for tonight to hurry up and come.
"I'm glad Naruto and Shikamaru found love in each other after what happened." Gaara hummed as he entered the lobby to see Shikamaru waiting for them in his greeting outfit.
"Welcome, you have the whole building to yourself and it's luxuries. I expect you will be ready by 7 tonight, as we commence at 8." Shikamaru couldn't keep the grin off his face and the giddiness he felt in himself wouldn't leave and he didn't want it gone. The Kages smiled at him.
"Look at the lucky groom." Mei teased. Shikamaru brushed her off and hugged her.
"At least I'm getting married, could you say the same." Shikamaru snarked playfully. Mei slapped him on the chest with a wide grin.
"Don't go getting cocky now, I'll bury you before you could even blink." Mei smirked, Shikamaru smiled.
"I'll leave you guys to it, don't be late." Shikamaru ran off to help with setting up the area.

Naruto smiled fondly at the kiddies he called his own munching on leftover cake. He was currently putting on the final pieces on all five cakes. He was pleased with how they turned out. He turned to the others who were cleaning up the space they had rented to bake in.
"Mom, can I get more?" Boruto asked as he cleaned his lips with his tongue. Naruto gave him a skeptical look. Himawari joined in nodding in approval and even though he didn't voice it Shikadai gave him a expectant look.
Naruto felt his resolve crumbling and the kicker was when Haruto looked up with his cute baby eyes with his face smeared with icing. He gave in and gave them one of the cakes that didn't make the cut.
Their eyes sparkled as they tore it apart like a pack of wolves. The assistant bakers looked on in fondness as the Hokage held Haruto up so he could dig in as well. "Hokage-sama, where should we move them."
"Carry them to the tent." Naruto ordered as Haruto took his messy hands and spattered them on his mother's face. Naruto grunted slightly as he felt a slight rumble in the abdomen. He smiled at the movement and continued helping Haruto eat cake. "After tonight your all going to the dentist." Naruto said seriously.
"Okay." The drawled in unison, Naruto had to shake his head. They sounded like Shikamaru.
"Don't be mean, give props to the baker." Naruto whined, his children obliged and brought forth handfuls of crushed cake to his lips.
"If this keeps up your all going to be sick." Shikamaru stated from the doorway. The helpers were gone with the wedding cakes so they were now alone. Shikamaru walked up to them and pulled a sleeping Shikaru from her carrier.
"No, we'll be alright." Boruto promised, Shikadai couldn't even utter a word since his mouth was stuffed full. Himawari didn't even bother making a argument, she was getting a sugar rush.
"You guys have a fitting now if I'm not mistaken." Shikamaru rubbed his chin. He held his chin in mock thought. "Sakura is the one doing it, if I remember." The kids stopped mid bite, Himawari however kept on eating. "I would hate to make her wait, Sarada is also with her."
No more needed to be said, Boruto and Shikadai got a haunted look on their face and ran out of the room jumping rooftops at high speed to somehow quell Sakura's anger of them being late before it went through the roof. Naruto laughed at them and turned to his daughter who was cleaning up her face. "Aren't you late as well."
"I went before I came here, after all I'm the flower girl." Himawari smiled and cleaned Haruto up.
"You sure you don't want cake?" Shikamaru asked his sleepy baby girl. Shikaru opened a eye and held out a hand and was rewarded when Naruto placed a little piece in it. She guided it back to her mouth and suckled on it as she closed her eyes again.
"I swear to Kami if she wasn't your kid I would be worried about her." Naruto said eyeing his daughter. Shikamaru laughed a bit and kissed her forehead.
"She's so precious, can't wait to tuck her in when she's older." Shikamaru said fondly, Naruto rolled his eyes playfully. They shared a quick kiss before heading off to the wedding area.
The domes Naruto made before hand were up and waiting for the lighting. The concept is to use lanterns to light the wedding, the domes were created to keep them in one area at a time and at the end of the wedding they would take the domes down and release the lanterns as a closing to the entire wedding. "I wonder how your pretty little head came up with this."
Naruto shrugged a bit and ran a hand through his long hair. "Don't know but it's going to be beautiful."
"Naruto-nii, where should I put the smaller lanterns." Konohamaru asked running up to play with Haruto and Himawari.
"Use them to line the path way from here to the alter." Naruto said gesturing to the pathway.
"Can I steal these two away?" Konohamaru smiled dragging Himawari and coddling Haruto.
"Didn't even wait for an answer," Naruto placed his hands on his hips. "Cheeky brat."
"He's your brother." Shikamaru said as if to point out that Konohamaru got it from him. Naruto narrowed his eyes at the obvious finger pointing.
"I might break that finger if you keep at it." Shikamaru laughed and dragged him into the cave. "Let's slip away for a bit." The Nara took his future husband's hand and led him to their proposal spot.
The waterfall was still glowing brightly with lights as they sat by the bank, Shikamaru dipped his feet in the water and hummed in content. Naruto all but jumped in and made Shikaru float around with him. "We'll have to bring them all here after the wedding." Naruto suggested as he hugged Shikaru who for one was splashing around with energy. "Who knew you had it in you Shikaru, my genes may not be far off from you." Shikamaru snorted at that.
"If she can be a dual of our personas I'll gladly give her an award but until then she's a Nara." He said strongly, Naruto smirked at him.
"Is someone jealous that their baby girl might not be all about sleeping 24/7." Naruto teases, Shikamaru huffs and looks away from him. Naruto's laughter echoed off the walls. "So I am correct."
"It's a nice picture Naruto. Me, Shikadai and Shikaru sleeping while Boruto, Himawari and Haruto go around causing mischief. And I can see you splashing us with cold water to wake us for dinner." He smiled fondly at the thought, Naruto gave him a tender smile.
"I'll make sure they come true."

Hinata glared at the festive mood of the entire village. Villagers, children were running around smiling, all happy for the wedding between the Hokage and his Advisor. Some chunin girls even admitted that they thought the two made a amazing couple before they even took office. It just rubbed her as she watched the two grow in the last two years. She didn't think they would even last the first year.
Then came the abominations called Shikaru and Haruto. To make things worse she had to have a private wedding with the Aburame to save face. No little plans since the Aburame were humble, private people. Hinata didn't want to have another child but it was required of her now. She had to produce an heir since Shino was clan head. All these bothersome things and here was everyone shoving Uzumaki's and Nara's happiness in her face.
She was so concentrated on were she was going she bumped into a old friend. Temari growled a bit until she realized who she bumped into. "Hinata," She murmured.
"What." The Hyuga-Aburame said in a self depreciating tone. "Here on a mission? Or are you here to try snag back your golden goose?"
"Both but it makes no sense, he's getting married I see. To that Hokage no less." She sneered a bit. "I regret not taking Shikdai, I could've used him as a ticket."
"I'm glad you didn't." A voice said from behind her. Temari spun around to see her son and Boruto looking at her in disgust.
"Shika-" Shikadai raised a hand to silence her.
"Don't bother, I don't care about what you say." He narrowed his eyes at the two ladies. 'If they even deserve that much acknowledgement.' Temari glared down at him and raised a hand to smack him.
Before she could even set the action in motion several Anbu detained her on the ground. "What the hell, he's my son! I know how to discipline my child."
"Are you stupid?" Boruto asked, hanging around the Naras for two years does a lot to your internal thought process.
"You gave up parental rights when you dumped him on Dad," He growled. Temari looked at him confused.
"Dad?" She asked confused.
"Mr. Nara," Boruto gave her a patronizing look. "Dense much?"
"You can't go around attacking the Hokage's children." A villager yelled from the silent crowd that was forming around them.
"What's going on here," A familiar voice said, Temari hasn't heard it since she signed the divorce papers. She looked up to see her former husband fussing over the two children.
"Are you two okay? Naruto nearly blew up the mountain when the Anbu said you were almost attacked." Shikamaru said ruffling their heads.
Shikdai pointed to Temari. "She says, she regrets not taking me because she could've used me as a ticket." Shikamaru stiffened as his eyes darken, he turned to Temari with a red slited glare.
Temari felt everything pool into her stomach at the look. She teared up and tried fighting off the Anbu but it was no use, they had already slapped her chakra restriction seals. "Boruto, Shikadai go your mother is waiting, let's not make him worried anymore."
The boys nodded and Boruto casted his former mother with a withering glare before heading off to find his true mother. Shikadai didn't give his former mother another look before taking off. Shikamaru looked back at the current situation when he felt they were far gone.
"You do realize what you've said is bordering on pre meditated kidnapping. And an attempted attack on the Hokage's children as an added charge." Shikamaru shot a quick glare at Hinata. "Anbu take her away, I'll let her Kage know what she faces for her actions."
"Villagers go back to being happy, nothing shall run amok in the Leaf, not today, not any day." Shikamaru said with a brilliant smile. The people cheered and went back to preparing for tonight even though they wouldn't be able to see it.
"Huyga, keep yourself in check, your getting that look in your eye." Shikamaru scowled. Hinata flinched under those eyes.
"What look?" She asked heatedly. Shikamaru scoffed.
"That look saying your miserable and if you are then everyone around you should wallow in it as well." He narrowed his eyes. "Sometimes you have to step away and figure yourself out instead of clinging to the notion that you were wronged. You weren't wronged Hinata and now your simply being selfish by holding on to this bitterness when Naruto's shown nothing but kindness towards your choices."
"You have no right-" Shikamaru cut her off with a scalding glare.
"I do have a right." Shikamaru growled and stepped into her personal space and pierced her with a dark look. "If you take one step backward, one slip up, give me one reason to think you might hurt Naruto and you won't have to worry about your petty scheme anymore. Because I'll make your scheme ends, right then and there. Permanently."
