Date Night
Naruto was up to his head with trying to figure out what they were planning. All of his friends were being tight lipped. Even the kids! He sighed as he bottled fed the twins, he was in the office and tonight he was having a date with his secretive lover. He smiled as Haruto gurgled happily, Shikaru clung to his clothes with a sleepy expression on her face.
"Shikaru please, not on me." Naruto chuckled at her as he placed her in the crib. The door opened revealing Sakura who was carrying measuring tape.
"Arms up and out!" She ordered marching in along with Sasuke who looked amused. Naruto froze and allowed his body to be yanked into different positions as he was measured in the most unprofessional way. When it was over Naruto gave Sasuke a pleading look.
"Sorry Naruto, I can't even if I wanted to tell you." Sasuke caressed his chin with a fond smile. Naruto rolled his eyes at the gesture and Sasuke laughed.
"Sasuke that time when you kissed me, you were sick to play that joke with Shikamaru." Naruto smirked. Sasuke smiled and leaned in so their noses brushed.
"You were so easy to tease when we were kids." Sasuke sighed in disappointment when Naruto didn't turn red. Naruto grinned.
"Would you appreciate being nailed to the wall like last time." Naruto chuckled. "I swear your a masochist." Sasuke pulled away and followed after Sakura.

Shikamaru looked at the prototype of his wedding outfit, Naruto's own wasn't going to be made until after he proposed so that Naruto would have a say in what he wanted. That is if he says yes. Everyone kept saying that the blond beauty would say yes but honestly he was unpredictable for a reason. Naruto's trademark was being out of the norm. His anxiety kept him on edge as he played with the ring he got him.
He pulled it out and stared in awe. The links and channels he had to go through under the radar to ensure the engagement ring got here was batshit crazy. And to make it worse Mei, the Mizukage had insisted she carve the wedding rings in her nation and he wasn't one to decline. He smiled at the thought and jumped the roofs smiling with the thought of the date he had planned.
Yamato had taken his draft of the setting and made it to a tee. All he had to do was collect the flowers he had ordered from Ino and decorate the place. He also purchased underwater glowing fire in neon blue. He chuckled at the thought of the blond squealing in delight.

Naruto paced the area back and forth in deep thought. He was home now but Shikamaru had already gotten ready and was waiting for him at Ichiraku's. They don't normally eat on their dates so that set off a flag.
The color?
The color wasn't distinguished well enough yet so he wouldn't worry. He pulled on his outfit which consisted of a Navy blue kimono with sakura petals decorating it. A festival was keeping today in celebration of Spring. His now mid back length blond hair was tied up in one with bangs similar to his father framing his face. He smiled at himself before heading out for his date.
When Naruto got to Ichiraku he was taken aback to see all his friends there with Shikamaru. Shikamaru looked nervous as he fidgeted with his black kimono sprinkled with yellow sparks. He laughed and approached them. "Is it a group date now?" They all turned to him with sweet smiles while Shikamaru hid his face.
"Guys." The Nara whined only to get smacked by TenTen.
"Good Luck Shikamaru!" They yelled in unison before vanishing. Naruto tilted his head and grinned.
"So you do have a surprise." Naruto stated. "Well whatever it is, it can't beat being a family with you or having your kids." Shikamaru held him by his waist and planted a kiss on his forehead.
"You have no idea what you do to me." Shikamaru smiled at him connecting their foreheads. "I love you Naruto."
Naruto blushed brightly and leaned up to kiss him. "I love you Shikamaru."
They sat at their table and Naruto ate in silence while Shikamaru had an internal melt down. 'Just look at yourself, it's just Naruto!' Then he had to reel back that thought. It wasn't just Naruto, Naruto was a fucking gem! He wasn't just a common person, he needed to be treated like a fucking King!
'But can I give that to him?' Shikamaru felt the doubt creep in but stopped when he looked up at his lover. Naruto was watching him with patient smile, his look told him that no matter what he would be waiting no matter how long it took for him to build up the courage.
"Naruto-"
"Thank Kami-sama I don't think I could go on in the silence." Naruto dragged laughing, Shikamaru laughed along with him and all the previous nervousness faded. He was ready now. Ready to marry the one he's come to love.
"Naruto I know we don't usually eat on our dates but tonight is special so save your appetite, we have alot of places to go." Shikamaru said cheekily. "Ichiraku was the first place we ate at together alone. We came as friends then but when I look back I could see I had a crush on you."
Naruto looked away shyly. "Ne Shikamaru just what are you planning." Shikamaru took his hands in his and held them fondly.
"You'll see." Shikamaru murmured and he leaned over to kiss him again, Naruto gasped as it went deeper before the Nara pulled away. "Onto the next area."
***************************************
Naruto smiled widely as he saw the familiar training ground. This was the area were he and Shikamaru regularly sparred growing up or when they studied at the academy. Shikamaru turned to him as they sat on the blanket.
"This was the place most of our alone time was spent together. I still remember when you came to me asking for help with your homework of looking for spars. The times we spent under the clouds sleeping until late at night. Camping out and you listening to my whining about were the food was coming from. This place is special because this was where our friendship solidified the most. This was the foundation to what we are now." Shikamaru said pulling out a picnic basket.
Naruto had the feeling it wasn't food it contained. And he was proved right, inside was a single necklace and a pair of earrings. The earrings were designed to be symbols of the Nara clan and the necklace was attached to the pendant of two deer mates. Naruto cried as Shikamaru placed them on him, in the Nara clan only ones you were considering to marry would get the earrings.
The necklace was Shikamaru being cute.
"Baka, why are you giving me these?" Naruto played with the earrings. Shikamaru smiled.
"I made them by hand. I hope you like them." Shikamaru caressed his cheeks.
"I love them but why me?" Naruto said holding onto the Nara's sleeve.
"Because I love you and you deserve them." Shikamaru stated in an obvious tone. "Naruto I never made those to Subaku, I guess I always knew she wasn't the one. Your the first and only one I'll make those for. Your perfect Naruto and I love you for it. You make me smile even when I try to be sad, angry hell even lazy."
Naruto laughed as he dried his tears and gave an eye smile. That flamed Shikamaru's heart with desire and gave him the extra push to continue the date and to the ultimate surprise at the end of the night that waited for the golden haired Angel. "I'll absolutely make something of Uzumaki culture to show that I want to marry you too."
'I hope it's soon,' Shikamaru thought pulling him up from the ground. 'I love that your still a bit oblivious when it comes to you.' Shikamaru kissed his cheek before pulling him to the center of the festival for some fun.
