--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The car ride was tense and deathly silent with the exception of Jimin giving the detective the directions that Chaeyoung had instructed him to. The storm had ceased a bit but rain was still falling, making the roads become dangerously slippery with sheets of ice forming on the surface. Detective Song focused on driving, his tired eyes watching the surroundings as they got closer and closer. Jin had fallen asleep a long time ago since his previously emotional outburst got the better of him. Jungkook had been staring out the window, helplessly trying to ease the negative vibes he was getting about the whole journey. Chaeyoung and Jimin were in their own world, both holding on to each other as if it would be their last chance to do so. Jimin looked down at Chaeyoung who's head was on his shoulder. He gently lowered his lips to place a sweet kiss at the top of her head. Chaeyoung moved at the feeling of Jimin's lips and looked up at him, her eyes boring into his.
Jimin squirmed a little under her gaze, his chubby cheeks gaining a bright shade of pink. "W-what?" he asked, biting his bottom lip and looking back at her. Chaeyoung chuckled softly before shaking her head and resting it on his shoulder. "It's nothing. I just like looking at you. I feel like I haven't looked at you enough..." her voice broke a bit at the end, gaining Jimin's immediate attention. He lightly placed a hand on Chaeyoung's face and maneuvered it up so she could look at him again. Her eyes were watery and she instantly looked down, making Jimin take a quick glance at her pained expression. Jimin wasn't having it and he nudged her cheek gently to get her attention. "Chaeyoung, look at me." he whispered, his face nearing hers in the process. "Please, look at me."
The car was really quiet so despite Jimin's whispering everyone could hear him loud and clear. Detective Song and Jungkook felt a bit awkward but they decided to ignore it and continued focusing on what they were doing before, fully tuning out Jimin's loving voice. Chaeyoung shook her head and continued to look down, making Jimin place his other hand on her face as well and carefully force her face up. He leaned in close, his nose rubbing against Chaeyoung's lovingly. He pressed his forehead against hers and smiled sweetly at her. "Don't speak as if you ran out of time, my cute crybaby. After we end this we'll have all the time in the world. There's still so much left for us to do. There's still so much life yet to live and I know that I want to live it with you." If Chaeyoung could turn as red as a tomato she would have but she was feeling way too weak to do anything at the moment. She nodded, feeling all the butterflies in her stomach increasing whether it be from Jimin's words or her existing anxiety over the whole situation they were headed into. "Is that your way of proposing to me?" she joked, instantly regretting the words that came out of her mouth as soon as she had said them.
Jimin stared at her endearingly, a bright smile on his face when he watched as Chaeyoung choked out apologies. He was so utterly in love with the girl in front of him that it was unbelievable. He would have never thought he would find a person he would feel so incredibly strong for. So ready to give up everything for. "It might be way too soon for that now but who knows what's gonna happen in the future." he teased, smothering the poor girl with kisses all over her pretty lips, face, and neck. No visible flesh was left unkissed and if it were just the two of them under different circumstances he would have just pushed her down onto the cushioned backseat of the car and kissed her as deeply and as passionately as he wished to but now wasn't the time nor place. "I love you so much, my beautiful rose. We'll get through this, you'll see." Jimin whispered into her ear as they hugged each other tightly. "I love you too, Jimin oppa...so so very much." Chaeyoung whispered back, leaving a tiny peck on the space below his right earlobe.
Jimin looked up behind Chaeyoung and let out a quiet laugh as he gazed upon Jungkook's disgusted expression. "You guys make me sick." He made a gagging noise and moved his vision back onto the scenery outside. They had traveled during the night and since it was a twelve-hour trip the sun had already risen well up as they were just a few hours away from their final destination.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The rest of the trip drew back to being deathly silent with a now fully awake Jin nervously biting his nails while looking out the window at the secluded wooded scenery. The car was on a snowy road surrounded by dense woods that looked like they went on for miles and miles.
(A/N: Something like this but wintery version like the bottom pic.)
Chaeyoung couldn't stop squirming in her seat, she felt incredibly ill the closer they got to Park Haeun and Park Jinwoo's house. She kept groaning in pain, and held onto Jimin's hand with a painful grip. Jimin and Jungkook stared at her with worry-filled eyes. "Chaeyoung are you alright?" Jungkook asked, scooting closer to the girl who looked worse off than he did. She had grown incredibly transparent; it was almost difficult to tell she was still there sometimes. "I-I'm fine." she muttered, tilting her head back onto the cushioned head rest behind her. "I-I think it's b-because we are close to my body and I've been away from it for too long."
Jimin bit his bottom lip, trying his best to retain his firm grip on Chaeyoung's hand but her persistent fading in and out was making it hard to do so. They couldn't lose her now, not when they were so extremely close to arriving. "Please, just hold on for a bit longer, baby. Just a bit more." Chaeyoung nodded, taking in painful breaths in an attempt to regain control over herself. "What's going on back there?" Seungheon asked, directing the car towards an area in the woods where the car would remain as they continued on foot. Jin turned back to look at a struggling Chaeyoung and he panicked, immediately removing his seatbelt so he could lean forward towards her. "Chaeyoung, are you okay?!" he asked, his breath picking up speed as he glanced between her and the other two panicked males. Chaeyoung nodded, breathing heavily as she regained her composure. "I-I'm okay now, w-we're good to go. We aren't too far now." Jin sighed and leaned back onto his seat, looking at the detective. "We don't have enough time. Something is happening to Chaeyoung so we need to hurry."
Seungheon nodded at Jin's words and unbuckled his seatbelt to turn to Jimin at the backseat. "Okay, my coordinates are automatically given to my team so they should be here soon. From here on out we will go by foot. Stay close to me at all times and do as I say. It's unfortunate that we came during daylight hours where it's easier to be spotted but it can't be helped." Jimin, Jin, and Jungkook all nodded.
"Chaeyoung will be the key if we want this to work. We don't know the layout of the area and seeing as she is some sort of spirit it will be easy for her to enter and give us a signal where we can go in next. We will wait until my team is in the area before we do anything. Once we are all together my team will deal with the parents while we go looking for Park Chaeyoung's body and get her out of there, got it? I don't know where the heck the demon is or whatever but if things go wrong then you two will leave and I will try to get her back, understood?"
Jin and Jimin nodded, Jungkook continued to look out the window, and Chaeyoung gripped Jimin's hand tighter while shaking her head. "You won't let him do that, Jimin. If things go wrong leave me and get everyone out." Jimin turned to Chaeyoung, staring at her beautiful pleading eyes. He sighed but nodded at her words, although he knew he couldn't just leave her. They were there to save her and they were going to no matter what. Everyone knew the risks but they were a family now and they would do whatever it took to protect the small family they had. "Everything will be okay." he told her, giving her a small kiss on the forehead before having to exit the car and embark through the snowy woods.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimin was trying his best to hold Chaeyoung up but it seemed as she was slowly sinking through him. "I think I-I'm at my limit, Jimin. I-I've been away for too long. I c-can't wait here forever." They had been waiting for about half an hour right by the mansion for the detective's team to show but the tracker on the detective wasn't working and he couldn't find a signal to communicate with his team either. "D-Detective...C-Chaeyoung is...Chaeyoung is fading. We can't wait any longer..." Jimin quietly stuttered, looking from Chaeyoung to the Detective in front of them. Song Seungheon groaned, rubbing his tired face out of frustration. Park Jimin was right, they couldn't just stand around.
They had trudged through the snowy woods and even though the sun was now blazingly bright, the weather was blisteringly cold and they weren't prepared nearly enough for it. Not only were the conditions of the surrounding area harsh but they had to be especially careful given the fact that the Parks had impressive security patrolling the area; security that hadn't been there before according to Chaeyoung. All the guys were shocked when they had first arrived to their destination. Chaeyoung had described the place just a little bit while they were on their way but descriptions paid no justice to being able to see the magnificent mansion with extensive gardens blessed in white. Jin, Jimin, and Jungkook had been in awe, mouths dropping at everything while moving around security to find a safe place to hide. Detective Song had just scoffed at how superficial and showy the mansion was but was far more impressed by how they had managed to find such a secluded and massive location.
Everyone had followed Chaeyoung's directions but they were located in the middle of nowhere. "This is what they traded my soul for. This is why they gave me away to a demon. This is why..." Chaeyoung had told them in a whisper, resulting in Jimin giving her a loving and comforting embrace. Jin and Jungkook had closed their mouths and muttered angry words at the Parks for being so utterly selfish. Money definitely didn't buy their happiness if they were acting like maniacs and murdering people each month to reverse their mistake and get their daughter back.
"Alright, Park Chaeyoung is still here, right?" Jimin and Jin nodded, shivering slightly. Everyone was shivering regardless of the heavy coats they had donned. "Good, then she will go first and we'll follow on her signal. We have to be as quiet as possible. After the signal, I will check out the area to make sure it's safe for you then you can enter and while I keep a lookout for the parents you look for the body." Jin, Jimin, and Jungkook cringed a bit as the detective referred to Chaeyoung as if she were a corpse but they understood he meant no harm by it. "We understand, detective." Jimin answered, turning to Chaeyoung who looked up at him with a small smile. "Be careful." he whispered, leaning down and giving her a loving kiss on the lips. Chaeyoung smiled and kissed back just as lovingly. "You too." she mumbled as she pulled away.
When Chaeyoung was about to head out Jungkook grabbed her wrist to stop her. "I'll go with you. Jin hyung and Jimin hyung have Detective Song. Let me go with you. You need someone too." Jin looked over at Jungkook nervously but his brother was right, Jungkook's wish was to keep Chaeyoung safe and there was nothing anyone could do to stop him. Chaeyoung hesitantly nodded, smiling gently when she grabbed onto Jungkook's outstretched hand. "Let's go then." Jungkook tightened the hold and beamed as he and Chaeyoung made their way through one of the mansion's walls.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Normally, passing through walls would be an insanely easy task, especially for Jungkook who had more experience, but for some reason they both felt like they were passing through quicksand. As soon as they made it to the other side of what seemed to be a study, both were panting heavily and had an intense pressure in their chests. Jungkook had his eyes closed momentarily, feeling an insane heaviness and uncharacteristically fatigued. "W-woah, t-this is bad, huh? I feel so drained for some reason." Jungkook muttered, opening his eyes to glance upon Chaeyoung who was halfway through the floor in a semi-unconscious state. "Chaeyoung!" Jungkook kicked into action and fought over his fatigue as he rushed to pull Chaeyoung up to the surface. He held her close to his chest, a hand gently placed on the girl's cheek. "Chaemunk, hey, wake up will you?" Jungkook's voice was soft but filled with worry. After a few seconds of waiting Chaeyoung's eyes fluttered open. "S-sorry for w-worrying you, Kookie. L-let's go." With a smile on her lips Chaeyoung managed to get a grip on herself and moved from Jungkook's chest, opting for grabbing his arm instead to keep in close contact.
"This h-heaviness I d-didn't feel it before...at l-least not this intense. Y-you can feel it too. I t-think th-" Chaeyoung's words were cut off when Jungkook suddenly spoke up as they looked around. "That the demon might be around, right?" he whispered and Chaeyoung could only nod, tightening her grip on Jungkook's arm. "I would h-have to come back eventually...i-it's been waiting. T-this is bad..." Before Jungkook could reply to Chaeyoung a sound could be heard coming from outside the study causing both of them to tense up.
"You've told us the same thing over the past days and I'm tired of hearing it! My wife won't come out of that damned room because of you and your inability to diagnose! You said you would make my daughter wake up and she hasn't yet! When will you do it?!" Chaeyoung flinched when she recognized the voice. She snuggled closer to Jungkook's side, hiding behind him slightly. "T-that's Park Jinwoo...the man who calls himself my father." she whispered, her whole body tensing when the door slammed open and a furious Park Jinwoo made his way in followed by a short old man with a white coat, white dress shirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes, and with a beard as white as his upper attire.
Both men walked right past Chaeyoung and Jungkook, Park Jinwoo sat down on his grand desk chair placed behind his beautiful mahogany desk while the older of the two stood in front of the desk awkwardly. The older man seemed fearful and stressed, nervously playing with his hands as Jinwoo snarled at him. "You are useless! I paid so much money for you and you've done absolutely nothing but give false hope and excuses!" Chaeyoung slowly led Jungkook towards the bookshelf furthest from the desk. They moved in absolute silence as if the men would notice their presence at any moment. Both were frozen as they watched the two older men arguing back and forth. They could leave whenever they wanted without obviously being caught but Park Jinwoo's presence froze them into place. The energy was so negative that they had a hard time focusing on anything but the intensity and tension in the room. Chaeyoung and Jungkook were suddenly pin drop silent when they heard Jinwoo's chair roughly slam down in anger and watched as he walked their way.
"You know, I think you were playing with me when you said you were the best of the best, Jaehyuk-ssi." Jinwoo's voice sounded cold with a hint of something else they couldn't quite point out. Chaeyoung curled closer to Jungkook who held onto her protectively when Jinwoo stopped right in front of them. Park Jinwoo looked down with a dark smirk, making both youngsters practically hold their breath. It felt like he could see right through them but his eyes were looking off at a different direction when he suddenly lifted his head and reached above them to pull a book from the shelf. "Jinwoo-ssi, I promise that I've done everything that I can. I can call some of my friends who specialize in inexplicable coma-induced patients. They can surely help out and assist me in waking your daughter." The man's voice was a mix of panic and fear, the emotions rising along with the volume of his voice. Park Jinwoo just chuckled and shook his head, turning to finally look at the man as he held a closed book in his hands.
Despite the fact that Jinwoo had moved away from them, Chaeyoung and Jungkook found it extremely difficult to relax. They felt that the room was growing heavier as if something bad was going to happen and that they were being forced to wait and see. They tried their best to move and leave but it was as if they were cemented to the ground. All they could currently do was hold onto each other and watch as Jinwoo made his way behind his desk, standing next to the chair he had previously slammed down in his calm fury. The man didn't pick up the chair and sit down though, instead he opened the book he had previously picked out and practically broke out into a loud maniacal laugh. Everyone in the room was unsettled by the man's laughter but everything quickly changed to full on panic when Park Jinwoo pulled a gun from the inside of the hollowed-out book he had been holding.

"J-Jungkook..." It didn't take a genius to figure out what was going to happen next but Chaeyoung and Jungkook couldn't seem to look away. In just a matter of seconds multiple gunshots were heard followed by splatters of brain chunks and blood flying straight at them, their eyes widened in horror when they watched as the doctor's corpse collapsed onto the ground. The man had been shot multiple times on the head, making the area a bloody mess with chunks of exposed brain everywhere. "Doctor, you might need some medication for that headache of yours." Jinwoo hollered with a jolly voice, laughing as if he had just given the greatest joke of all time. "Now that you are dead you serve as a much more useful being, doctor." Jungkook twisted Chaeyoung's head to face the bookshelf behind them as he didn't want her to stare at the mess her supposed father had created. Although that came all too late as Chaeyoung was now a mumbling mess, images of blood and brain playing around in her head.
Park Jinwoo quickly made his way from behind his desk and stood by the man who was laying lifelessly on his now ruined expensive carpet. He raised his foot, placing it slowly on top of the man's hollow head. "This is what happens when I you disappoint me, Doctor. You shouldn't have given my wife and I false hope. We care for our daughter very much and would do anything to be a happy family again. But you disappointed me and now you are here. YOU DISSAPOINTMENT!" Jinwoo stomped on the doctor's head repeatedly, breaking through the skull and finishing the job of making the man's head and face an unrecognizable pile of mush. Chaeyoung was shaking from both fear and her sobs as she heard the sickening crunch and the squelching noises every time Park Jinwoo set his foot down. Jungkook felt absolutely sickened by the sounds he was hearing. He knew that if he turned around it would be game over so he held Chaeyoung closer to him, whispering sweet words of comfort as he maintained his eyes closed. Park Jinwoo was laughing to his heart's content, gazing upon the masterpiece he had created in such a short span of time. "Are you proud, master?" he whispered, dense black smoke emanating from his body. He looked down at the doctor, stepped a few steps back and open his arms wide as if he was welcoming something. After a few moments of silence Chaeyoung and Jungkook turned to look back at Jinwoo who had his head tilted back all the way as he stared straight at them with a wide grin.
(A/N: WARNING: Creepy Images Below)
"Boo~" he teased, making the other two snap out of their frozen trance immediately. "Master is waiting for you, sweet Chaeyoung! The doctor was just an excuse! You need to return to bring back my sweet daughter. Master will help!" he yelled at them as the two escaped out of there in a hurry. Each time they went through walls it tired them out a lot but it was the only thing they could do.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"W-what was that? He could see us! He mentioned a master...what the hell is going on?!" Jungkook questioned, thinking incredibly hard as he tried to piece everything that had just happened together. "Chaeyoung, do you thi–hey, what's wrong?" Jungkook turned around, watching as Chaeyoung stared directly onto a bed with nothing on it. Jungkook looked around the room, eyes widening at the size of it as well as how elegantly girl the room was decorated. He turned to his left, noticing the windows covered by wooden planks then turned back to Chaeyoung who was furiously shaking her head. "N-no...n-not here..." she mumbled over and over again, confusing the heck out of Jungkook. He slowly approached her and placed a gentle hand onto her right shoulder only to be roughly shoved back by a disheveled looking Chaeyoung. Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows in frustration, getting increasingly frustrated by Chaeyoung's sudden demeanor. He wanted to understand that everything was too much to handle but it was frustrating when Chaeyoung lashed out and he had no idea why.
Chaeyoung was ready to shove him again but Jungkook firmly grabbed onto her wrists before she could do anything. "Stop! What the hell is wrong with you?! Listen, we are in this together so you need to tell me what the heck is going on so I can help you!" Jungkook's stern voice seemed to do the trick as Chaeyoung snapped out of whatever trance she was in and looked at him with her tears rushing down her cheeks. "I-I'm sorry, Jungkook...I-It's just that...I-I'm not here...My body is gone. This was the room where I was being held captive. I was lying on that bed!" She managed to free one of her wrists and pointed towards the empty bed next to them.
"They moved me. I don't know where I am now. I don't know how to go back...." Chaeyoung's voice was weak as she started fading in and out like she had been previously doing so. Jungkook pulled her into his arms, his left hand still holding onto her wrist as his right hand caressed her hair in order to calm her down. Jungkook looked around the room, looking back towards the closed door on the other side. The door was covered with scratches and dents, a testament to how hard Chaeyoung had fought to escape. Jungkook sighed and placed his chin on top of Chaeyoung's head. "This isn't the end, Chae. We still have to keep going. You still have to keep going. Do it for us. For everyone that is out there trying to save your life. It's too soon to give up now. This is just another mountain we have to climb. No big deal." Jungkook pulled Chaeyoung away from him slightly and smiled encouragingly at her. "You are Park Chaeyoung. You can do anything." Chaeyoung blinked her remaining tears away and smiled brighter than she had ever smiled before. "Thank you, Jeon Jungkook. I wouldn't know what I would ever do without you."
"Let's test that then~" In the blink of an eye, Jungkook who had been previously standing in front of her was now screaming bloody murder as a large black mass chewed him up and swallowed him. Chaeyoung's face was still frozen in that blissful state of pure determination and joy she had possessed when Jungkook had given her a much-needed pep talk. However, everything was slowly processing and before she realized it her own agonizing scream snapped her out of her blissful state and into reality. Her face scrunched up into an expression of unadulterated horror as she watched her friend reach a hand out in final hopes of finding a way to escape before he disappeared into eternal darkness and a dark chuckle could be heard. "It's time to play, Chaeyoungie~" Chaeyoung stepped back absolutely dumbfounded, her screams of pain and terror practically shaking the whole mansion as she called out to her one and only best friend. "JUNGKOOK!" she screeched, her body going from its previously pale state to an intense shade of dense black.
