Chapter 26
Author's Note:
Hi!
I know I've been gone for a SUPER long time and it's unacceptable so here is the update...
However, remember when I said the Christmas Special was one part and it turned out to be two?
Haha...it's actually three parts!
Sorry...but enjoy!
You won't regret it or maybe you will.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chaeyoung groaned when she heard loud music blasting through the walls of her room. She tried to cover her ears with pillows as she tossed around but her door was busted open and the loud music became even louder. "Time to wake up, young one! Today is Christmas day and you know what that means!" Jin shouted as he and Jungkook barged in.
Chaeyoung curled up and pressed the pillows against her ears even tighter as she prepared, eyes twitching when she heard "I DON'T WANT A LOT FOR CHRISTMAS~" She tried to ignore everything and go back to sleep, but that proved to be difficult as she soon felt a weight on her bed that ripped away the pillows muffling the sounds. With her only protection gone, another voice came through "THERE IS JUST ONE THING I NEED~"
She rolled her eyes before rolling her body to face Jin who was grinning at her while Jungkook took the stage and continued to sing some more of the song. Despite the sudden awakening both males had given her, she couldn't help but let out a smile before joining in on the fun. It was a fun-filled morning of songs and a cheery breakfast that was carefully prepared by Chaeyoung as a gift to Jin who always cooked for her.
They ended up watching about two movies and she even helped Jin with the finishing touches the house needed for tonight's party. By the time everything was complete, Chaeyoung had rushed to her bathroom to take a quick shower and then get ready as Jimin would be there in no time.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Usually, the two would meet at a halfway point and go together from there but Jimin had called her and said he would pick her up at her home instead which surprised her. Once she was done in the bathroom, she hurriedly ran into her room to change into an outfit she had chosen previously with the help of Jin and Jungkook. It wasn't anything special, literally just a light-brown sweater and some black skinny jeans but she still felt the need to ask for their help anyways.
Chaeyoung sat down on the seat of her vanity, trying to calm her beating heart as she stared at her reflection. A small frown formed on her face as she gazed upon the simple make-up she had applied. She wasn't one to ever worry about her looks, but in that moment, she felt like something just wasn't good enough. Should I do something more drastic? Is my look too simple?
She kept contemplating her appearance until the soft knocks on her door interrupted her thoughts. "Chaeyoung-ah, can we come in?" Jin asked from the other side of her door. Chaeyoung got up and opened the door for them before she sat back down to stare at her reflection once again.
"What's wrong, Chae?" Jungkook questioned as he approached her first, an arm wrapping around her shoulders. "Is everything okay, Chaeyoung?" Jin was the next to ask, crouching down a little to get a better look at her. Chaeyoung just sighed before she turned to look at the older man beside her. "It's just that...do I look okay? I thought it would be better if I did something more drastic...you know? To maybe impress him instead?" Her whole body cringed when she realized what she had said. She turned her body back and knocked her head against the vanity table, left cheek pressed flat against its surface.
"Forget about it...I-I sounded so stupid just then. I don't know what I was thinking." Her voice was quiet, yet the two boys could hear her loud and clear. "I'm glad you realized how stupid you sounded before I had to say anything." Jungkook commented, removing his arm from her shoulders and instead began playing with her un-styled hair.
"Don't lose your confidence, Chaeyoung. There is no need for that. You are such a beautiful girl and I am sure Jiminie can see that even if you were wearing a trash bag or had drool on your face." Chaeyoung snorted at Jin's words, finally raising her head to stare at her reflection with a smile. I've never worried about what I looked like before and I definitely won't worry about it now. Chaeyoung sighed and nodded at herself, removing some of her hair from her face and gently placing it behind her ear.
"My cute Chaeyoungie is all grown up! I think I might cry! I wish she could stay with me forever but Jiminie is taking her away from me!" Jin captured her in an affectionate side hug, shaking her slightly as he whined. "Hyung, I think you broke Chaeyoung!" Jungkook alerted as Chaeyoung froze, face expressionless with a red hue tinting her features instead. Jin released his hold on her, suppressing a laugh when Chaeyoung snapped out of her embarrassment and glared at him.
He gently picked up a bit of Chaeyoung's long hair before grasping her shoulders from behind, startling the young girl in the process. "Alright, enough of that. You have to finish getting ready before your man comes so let me do your hair!" Chaeyoung could feel her face heat up again, "oppa!" she whined, nodding at Jin's offer anyways. Jin removed his hands from Chaeyoung's shoulders and cracked his knuckles, heading off to find the girl's hair straightener. Chaeyoung and Jungkook followed his movements before turning to each other and breaking into loud laughter.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Chaeyoung was finally done with her look, hair freshly straightened by Kim Seokjin himself. She was now waiting in the living room with a large furry brown jacket in her arms and her left-hand gripping onto her phone tightly. "Relax, Chaeyoung. No need to be so nervous." Jin tried to soothe her nerves but she was practically having a mental breakdown at the moment. "M-maybe I shouldn't go, oppa." Her voice was soft, eyes scanning over all of the decorations around the house.
Jin crossed his arms and sighed, "what are you feeling?" he asked, trying to assess what was worrying the girl now. "I-I'm sorry...it's just that we always spend this day together and I'm breaking that by going with Jimin. I-I've changed my mind– I'll just c-cancel." Before she could even move, a familiar cold hand suddenly wrapped itself around her wrist and she quickly looked up to find Jungkook staring down at her.
"Listen, I may have not liked this Jimin guy at first...and I'm not saying I like him much now, but I like him better than before and it would be cruel to cancel on him. It's true that we've spent this holiday together for three years now, but it was only us back then. Now you have Jimin by your side too and we're happy for that. Besides, you are coming back just in time to attend the party with him, so we'll be celebrating together nonetheless. That being said, stop feeling guilty and enjoy your freaking date, will you?" Chaeyoung was shocked that Jungkook was the one to convince her to go but she appreciated his words immensely.
Jungkook released his grip on her wrist and sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck since the room had become too silent for his liking. "D-did I say something bad?" he questioned, his timid voice and appearance making him look like a scared little boy. He backed away when Chaeyoung suddenly stood up, throwing her jacket and phone onto the couch before hugging the male ghost.
Her arms wrapped around his torso and she leaned her head against his shoulder. Jungkook was too stunned to hug back at first, finally snapping out of it when he heard her speak up. "I know I don't say this to you as often as I do to Jin oppa and maybe it's because we bicker and fight most of the time but...I-I'm only going to say this once, so you better listen up...I-I just really love and appreciate you, Jungkook. You are always there for me, whether it be just silent comfort or cheering me up in your own way. I'm glad you are still with us and I hope you stay with us forever. I think I would go insane if I never saw your face again."
Jungkook chuckled at her words, the hold around Chaeyoung tightening. "I...I love you too and I promise to remain by you and Jin hyung's side for as long as I am able to." His tone was so soft that Chaeyoung couldn't help but pull away to look at Jungkook's face. She kept a firm hold on his gaze, eyes narrowing as if she was attempting to read him. After a few seconds, she just nodded her head at his words and gave him a dazzling smile that he quickly returned.
Jin watched the two young ones with a tender smile on his lips. He cleared his throat and opened his arms wide, pouting at Chaeyoung. She rolled her eyes playfully before moving away from Jungkook and jumping into Jin's arms. "Of course, I love and appreciate you too, oppa. I am just so thankful for everything you have done for me." she snuggled into Jin's warm body. The older male laughed, stroking Chaeyoung's hair until the sound of the doorbell interrupted them.
Chaeyoung moved away from Jin immediately, her eyes wide as she looked at the door and then back at Jin. "I-I think that's him, oppa." she quietly whispered, her heart beating wildly in her chest. Jin just chuckled at the girl as he walked away from her and moved to the door. The doorbell rang just one more time before Jin opened the door, revealing a nervous looking Jimin on the other side. His hair was slightly messy, cheeks flushed, and he was tapping his right foot repeatedly. "Hey Jiminie, Merry Christmas!" Jin walked out and pulled the shorter male into a tight hug, which helped ease the younger's nerves.
"M-Merry Christmas, hyung." Jimin returned the hug, a moment of silence filling the air before he finally decided to speak up. "Uhm...i-is Chaeyoung r-ready?" His stutter made Jin chuckle as he pulled away, nodding in response to his question. "Let me get her for you." Jin began to walk inside but took a quick pause and turned to look at Jimin. "Just so you know, she's just as nervous as you so don't worry." He winked at the younger, making Jimin blush before a wide smile formed on his lips.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jimin had his eyes locked on his worn-out shoes, hearing a couple of loud noises and bangs coming from inside the house. He nervously shuffled from one foot to the other, the pounding in his chest becoming wilder when he heard the closed door suddenly click open. Jimin took a quick deep breath before looking up to see Jin gently push a flustered Chaeyoung in his direction. His eyes widened, and he instinctively opened his arms to catch the poor girl who crashed into him with a light force. "Have fun you kids! Don't come home too late since you still have to come to my amazing party!" Jin quickly closed the door to his home when he finished his words, leaving a stunned Jimin and Chaeyoung outside.
Chaeyoung buried her face in the crook of Jimin's neck, one of her hands grasping onto his coat tightly while the other hand clutched the handles of a large bag. Jimin sighed in content, feeling the nervousness he felt slowly fade away as he held the girl in his arms tighter. "Merry Christmas, Chaeyoung." he whispered, gently pulling her away so he could look at her face. Chaeyoung kept her head down but Jimin could tell she was blushing furiously from the red tint coming off the tip of her ears that peeked out of her straightened hair. Jimin could feel his heart flutter in joy and he leaned down to lightly peck the top of Chaeyoung's head.
Chaeyoung quickly lifted her head at the feeling, painfully bumping into Jimin's chin in the process and sending his head flying back. The male moved away, clutching his chin with a pained expression. "Oh my gosh! I-I'm so sorry!" Chaeyoung shouted in panic, forgetting the pain of her own throbbing head to assess the damage she had caused him. "I-it's okay, i-it doesn't hurt." Jimin reassured but Chaeyoung set aside the bag she was holding and moved his hands from his chin so she could take a good look at the affected area. Jimin's face flushed in both embarrassment and shyness as Chaeyoung intently stared at him, her hands holding his to prevent him from interfering in her examination. He wanted to look away, but he found himself lost in her beauty instead.
He didn't know what she was thinking and it made him gulp out of nervousness. She just stared until he finally felt a very light peck on his reddened area. His eyes widened as he stared at Chaeyoung who had moved away from him. "D-does it feel better?" she quietly questioned, shyly looking up at him. Jimin remained frozen for a few seconds more before he nodded, the throbbing pain on his chin completely vanishing. "Th-thank you..." he whispered. Chaeyoung just gave him a small smile before grabbing the bag she had set aside and turning back to stare at him again. "I'm sorry and Merry Christmas to you too, Jiminie."
Jimin wanted to gobble her up but he just chuckled at her cuteness, taking one of her hands and leading her to the parked vehicle he had brought. "A car? Is this yours?" Chaeyoung asked as Jimin set her bag in the back and then helped buckle her in, quickly heading to the driver's seat and then buckling himself in. "I can't really afford a car of my own and I didn't want you to deal with going into public transportation when it's so crowded outside so I rented this for the day. So you don't have to be uncomfortable." Jimin was a bit ashamed that he couldn't afford a car of his own and had to rent one instead but Chaeyoung's heart fluttered at his thoughtfulness.
"Car or not as long as we're together it's okay." she blurted out, making herself and Jimin's blushes redden even more. Jimin wanted to hold her hand so badly and be like those cool guys that drive with one hand while they hold the girl's hand with the other. Unfortunately, Jimin wasn't confident enough in his driving so both his hands were glued to the steering wheel. Chaeyoung could see Jimin pout from the reflection of the car window, watching as he attempted to drive with one hand only for the hand to immediately return to its original place. A light smile made its way to her lips as she reached out and held onto the side of Jimin's coat tightly. Jimin felt the pressure and looked over at Chaeyoung for a second only to see her look out her window with a smile on her face. Jimin's pout quickly vanished, replaced with a loving smile as he looked away from the girl and back onto the road ahead.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"It's Christmas day, Jimin. Getting stuck in traffic was bound to happen so stop apologizing, it's not your fault. We arrived safely and that's all that matters." Chaeyoung reassured, nudging Jimin's arm lightly to cheer him up. They had stopped at a cakeshop to get Jimin's mother a cake since their first stop was the hospital and as soon as they hit the road they got stuck in traffic for almost two hours. Jimin was bummed to say the least that the start of their date had been sitting in a car as people angrily honked at each other. Despite Chaeyoung's attempts to cheer the boy up, he was still a pouting baby until he felt soft lips on his cheek and saw an energetic girl run ahead of him.
"Come on, let's go!" she cheered, trying her best to really get his energy running again. Jimin chuckled and carefully ran after her since he was holding the precious cake in his hands and he didn't want it to fall. After catching up to her, they both made their way to the front desk, both feeling a little breathless after their run.
Jimin dealt with the lady at the front desk while Chaeyoung looked around at all the festive decorations that adorned the hospital's first floor. Usually the hospital was quiet and dreary but today it was full of life in a way. There was so much noise from families walking around and it made Chaeyoung's heart swell with joy when she saw patients out with their loved ones around them. She remembered when she was at the hospital herself after the accident with the demon and all the things that went down during her stay.
While some of the things that happened were good, she couldn't help but suddenly feel nervous about seeing Jimin's mother after their last encounter. Jimin had made up with his mother and had visited her multiple times after their argument but she hadn't seen her since and she was worried. She just hoped that maybe this time she could have a pleasant experience. Chaeyoung sighed, too caught up in her thoughts to hear Jimin calling her until he held onto one of her wrists since her hands were preoccupied.
Chaeyoung turned in his direction, meeting his worried eyes. "Are you okay?" he asked, giving her a small smile. She nodded, returning his smile before leaning into him, her head rested on his shoulder. They stayed that way for a few seconds before an angry elder yelled at them. "You disrespectful children! Get out of the line if you are done! Displaying affection here, young love is disgusting." he grumbled, making the youngsters separate immediately. Jimin gave Chaeyoung her visitor's pass before grabbing the cake and leading her to the elevator, both with deep blushes etched onto their cheeks.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
They awkwardly waited in the elevator, both shifting from one foot to the other until a ding was heard and the elevator opened to their desired floor. Jimin was the first to come out before Chaeyoung followed him all the way to his mother's room. They both paused right outside, Chaeyoung gulping as the nerves she previously left behind came back again. Jimin noticed how uncomfortable she looked and nudged her gently. "I'm with you this time, don't worry." He gave her a reassuring smile that eased her nerves a little but all she wanted to do was hold his hand instead. She watched as Jimin carefully balanced the cake in one hand before knocking on his mother's room door. "Eomma? It's me, Jimin, and I brought Chaeyoung too." Chaeyoung heard a rough cough before a muffled voice told them to come in.
She hid behind Jimin as he opened the door and walked into the room. Chaeyoung felt a bit lightheaded as soon as she entered but hid away her dizziness and smiled at Jimin's mother instead. Jihyo watched as the two youngsters entered her room, the familiar heaviness of Chaeyoung's presence taking a toll on her frail body but she still put on a smile despite her difficulty to breathe. Chaeyoung noticed how much Jihyo had aged since she last saw her. It was impossible to have aged so quickly all of a sudden and she could tell that Jimin thought the same when she saw the sad glint in his eyes; his mother looked like she was wasting away.
"Eomma!" Jimin cheered, going in to give his mother a tight hug after placing the cake down on a table. Chaeyoung placed the gift bag she was holding down onto the table as well, smiling as she saw Jimin carefully throw himself onto his mother. It had been a while since he last saw her and he felt quite guilty for it. He used to frequently visit but school had become hectic right before his break started and then work got intense with the holiday season, so he was not able to visit as often as he would have liked. His mother hugged her son as tight as she could, the sleeves of her hospital gown sliding down to reveal the horrendous bruises that were littering her skin. Chaeyoung gasped in shock, her left hand quickly covering her mouth when Jihyo's eyes flickered onto her. The elder shook her head at the girl, signaling for her to keep quiet about what she had seen. Chaeyoung slowly nodded, averting her eyes from the woman and entertaining herself with the tiles below her feet.
"I'm sorry I haven't been able to see you, eomma. There is no excuse, I'm a horrible son. How are you feeling?" Jimin's voice was laced with sadness and a bit of anger directed at himself. His mother chuckled as she clutched onto her son tighter. "You will never be a horrible son, Jimin. If anything, I've been a horrible eomma to you. I'm very grateful you've stuck by me despite what I've done." Her voice was like a whisper and she could feel Jimin's hold on her tighten which made her want to scream in pain, but she held it in as she didn't want her son to worry. Jimin pulled away from his mother and caressed her deathly pale and thin face.
"You don't need to keep apologizing for that, eomma. We've already discussed it and I already forgave you. Now let's forget about that and enjoy ourselves for a bit, okay?" Jimin bit his lower lip, eyes glossed over with unshed tears. He looked away from his mother, the tears he was holding back finally rolling down his cheeks. Chaeyoung stood by him in an instant, holding his hand to provide some sort of comfort. "W-we brought you a cake to celebrate with you today, eomoni. We picked it out together for you, so we hope it's okay. Jimin oppa told me you like animals and chocolate..." Jimin squeezed Chaeyoung's hand before getting up and wiping his tears away. He picked up the cake he had left on a table sitting next to the gift bag Chaeyoung had been carrying.
Jihyo smiled at Chaeyoung, staring at the girl intently before she was interrupted when Jimin placed the cake down next to her right out of its box. Jihyo sat up with Chaeyoung's help, her eyes shining brightly when she looked at the cute cake. It wasn't anything too special, just a round cake covered in white fondant with chocolate syrup dripping from all sides and cute edible animal decorations adorning the top.
(A/N: I NEED this cake!)
"Thank you very much. It's lovely. I needed something sweet in my life besides my son and his sweet Chaeyoung of course." she joked, making the other two choke on their saliva simultaneously. Jimin quickly cleared his throat, "l-let's cut the cake then!" He looked around, groaning when he realized that they hadn't brought any plates or utensils to enjoy the cake with. Chaeyoung realized it too and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'll go get something for us, don't worry." Jimin quickly shook his head, "no, it's okay. I'll go." He then realized he would have to leave Chaeyoung alone with his mother and bit his lip since he didn't want to make Chaeyoung uncomfortable. Chaeyoung let out a small smile and squeezed his shoulder to let him know she was going to be fine. "Okay, then I'll be right back." Jimin leaned down and kissed Chaeyoung's forehead without thinking before leaving the room in search for plates and utensils.
Chaeyoung awkwardly stood where Jimin had left her, her back facing Jihyo who was smiling at the girl. "I can tell you two really care about each other. I don't know if this will make you uncomfortable, but he looks at you way differently than he did his last girlfriend. You are special, Chaeyoung. You two were destined to meet, I'm sure of it." Chaeyoung jumped when she heard Jihyo's voice, her cheeks ablaze with her words. "I-I'm not his girlfriend, eomoni." she quickly corrected, turning to face Jimin's mother. Jihyo raised an eyebrow in surprise. "You aren't? Well, I guess I'll just have to scold that kid for being so slow and he calls himself a man." Jihyo grumbled while rolling her eyes, laughing softly for a minute.
Chaeyoung awkwardly chuckled at Jihyo's words, her left hand rubbing her right arm to ease her nerves. She recalled the horrible bruises on Jihyo's arms and her eyes immediately landed on them, arms now fully covered by her sleeves. The light atmosphere of the room changed entirely when Jihyo caught Chaeyoung staring at her arms again. "Promise me you won't tell him about what you saw, Chaeyoung." Jihyo demanded, her tone deadly serious. "Whatever you do, don't tell Jimin about my bruises. It's nothing serious, I just don't want him to worry about me anymore. He's so young and all he's ever done with his life is worry about me. I don't want to see the sadness behind his eyes anymore. Please, don't tell him. Can you promise me that?" Jihyo's voice had become so soft that Chaeyoung had to get closer to actually hear her properly.
Chaeyoung gulped, feeling like the bruises were something that should definitely worry someone and she would feel guilty keeping that from Jimin but she promised Jihyo she wouldn't say anything out of respect for her. Jihyo smiled softly at Chaeyoung once again, reaching out a weak hand to pat Chaeyoung's head when she was low enough. "Such a pretty girl...you have such a pretty heart yet you've suffered greatly." Chaeyoung didn't know what came over her but as soon as Jihyo began to stroke her hair, she felt wetness roll down her cheeks. A mother's touch, she was currently feeling the affectionate touch of a mother. She brought her hands to roughly wipe away the tears that kept streaming down her face. "I-I'm sorry...I c-can't stop crying..." Chayeoung admitted. Jihyo shook her head and pulled Chaeyoung to lean against her. "It's okay, Chaeyoung. Let it all out." Jihyo's voice and her soft touches made Chaeyoung's heart swell and her eyes water.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I'm back with everything we need!" Jimin cheerfully called out, entering the room only to freeze in his spot when he saw Chaeyoung and his mother crying their eyes out while holding onto each other. "I-is everything okay?" he fearfully asked as he unfroze and walked towards them. He set the bag full of things he had brought to the side and placed a comforting hand on Chaeyoung's back, rubbing soothing circles onto it. Jihyo was the first to pull away, nodding with a wide smile on her face. "Everything is okay, Jiminie. No need to worry. Just having some sentimental girl time." Chaeyoung was the next to pull away, turning to look at Jimin with the same wide smile as Jihyo. "Everything is better than okay, Jimin."
Jimin sighed in relief and grabbed the bag he had set aside, "let's eat some cake then, shall we?" The two females looked at each other before turning to look at Jimin. "Yes please!" they both cheered, making Jimin's insides turn to mush at their adorableness.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The three of them spent a few hours together just chatting away about random things and laughing at silly things Jimin had done in his life, much to his embarrassment. The time for them to leave had arrived much faster than Chaeyoung would have thought. She really had enjoyed her time with Jimin's mom, she thought it felt special. Like if it was a one in a lifetime thing for her. Chaeyoung arose from her chair and grabbed the gift bag she left on a table when they first walked in. She then walked back to Jihyo and shyly handed the bag to her. "It's not much but I do hope you like it. I just thought it could brighten things up a bit. It also kind of reminds me of Jimin oppa." Chaeyoung whispered the last part and they both giggled, making for a very confused Jimin.
Jihyo first removed all the decorative tissue paper Chaeyoung had placed in the bag before her hand reached in and pulled out a bright yellow character pillow. "So cute!" Jihyo shouted, startling the other two as it was the loudest she had gotten since they entered the room. Jihyo excitedly held up the pillow of a white dog with its tongue sticking out and black ears that appeared to be wearing a yellow hoodie up in the air. She then looked at her sun and a bright giggle erupted from her weak body.
(A/N: Chimmy Chim Chim)
"They do look alike, Chaeyoungie!" she cheered, bringing the pillow to her chest and hugging it tightly. Jihyo made sure to keep a tight hold on her sleeves so that her bruised arms wouldn't be exposed to Jimin every time she stretched her arms out. "Thank you very much, sweetie. The gift is great. Your visit really made me so happy. Please come visit me again in the future. I want the both of you to come. It will be fun." Jimin pulled Chaeyoung over to him, his arm wrapping around her waist. His heart was full knowing his mother was so happy. He hadn't seen her that happy in the longest time. He turned to look at a giddy Chaeyoung by his side and then back at his mother. He furrowed his eyebrows when he saw his mother's smile flicker to a frown for just a second, a deep sorrow hidden in her eyes. However, the sorrowful expression vanished as soon as it appeared, which made him wonder if what he saw was a trick of his mind. He chose to ignore it when he saw his mother's bright smile once again.
"We had fun too, eomma. I guess it's time for us to leave, we'll make sure to come again next time." Jimin leaned down and gave his mother a loving kiss on the forehead. While Jimin moved away to clean up after themselves, Jihyo urged Chaeyoung to come over so she could whisper something in her ear. Chaeyoung quickly moved to her side, leaning her head down low enough for Jihyo. "Chaeyoung listen to me and listen well, okay?" Jihyo started, continuing when Chaeyoung nodded earnestly. "Take care of Jimin for me. When I'm gone, I want you to please take care of him. Make sure he doesn't feel alone. His true potential will be uncovered and it's only then that you can be saved. When the time comes, please don't leave his side no matter what. Even if he tries to push you away by saying harsh things...never leave him. I trust you, Chaeyoung. You'll live a great and happy life. It was a great pleasure meeting you." Chaeyoung felt her heart drop at Jihyo's words. She wasn't sure why but it somehow felt like Jihyo was saying goodbye and Chaeyoung wasn't sure if she should feel concerned or not. Am I reading too much into it? Yeah...I'm probably overthinking things again.
Chaeyoung moved away, her eyes locked with Jihyo's, a bucket of emotions displayed before her. She could see sadness, regret, guilt, and even a bit of fear? Chaeyoung shook her head before smiling at the older woman. "I promise, eomoni. I'll take good care of him. I promise to never leave his side no matter how tough life gets. I really enjoyed meeting you too. I can't wait to come back again to see you. We can chat some more...does that sound okay?" Jihyo just studied the young girl's facial features, chuckling before agreeing to her words. "That sounds better than okay..." she whispered. Once Jimin finished cleaning up he went to hug his mother tightly. Jihyo raised her hand and caressed her son's cheek. "I love you. Take care of yourself, okay? Promise me you will always be your cheerful and kind self." Jimin nodded enthusiastically. "Always, eomma. I'll see you again soon." They finally finished saying their goodbyes, Chaeyoung lingering just a bit longer to look back at Jihyo who stared at her with a smile and gave her a little wave. Chaeyoung bowed before finally leaving the room and catching up to Jimin.
