Chapter 24

Jin and Jungkook turned to glance back at the two giggly people whose connected gloved-hands were swinging back and forth as they walked. Jin turned back to look at Jungkook who was staring at them with an unreadable expression. "How do you feel about Chaeyoung and Jimin, Kook-ah?" the elder suddenly asked, making the younger look at him with wide eyes. Jungkook lowered his head, sighing before letting out a low chuckle. "I'm glad that Jimin makes Chaeyoung happy..." Jin kept his eyes forward as he nodded at Jungkook's response.

"I know that you liked her a lot, Jungkook. It must have been painful to let her go..." Jin whispered. Jungkook's chuckle turned into a full-blown laugh, fists rubbing off masked tears as his laughter died down. "I-it definitely wasn't easy, hyung. I didn't know Jimin's intentions with Chaeyoung at first, so I tried to steer her away from him, but they ended up getting even closer. Jimin's feelings are strong...maybe even stronger than mine were so I feel relieved..." Jungkook paused his words, turning back when he heard Chaeyoung's whine as Jimin pulled her pudgy cheek.

A big toothy-smile took over his face, features brightening as he turned back to look at his hyung. "All I want now is the best for her and as long as Jimin keeps making her laugh and smile like that...that's all I need to feel happy." Jin chuckled at the younger's mature response. "However, if he dares to break her heart–I'll make sure to make the rest of his life a living hell." Jungkook quickly added. Jin looked at the maknae's fiery gaze and raised fists with an approving smile, "uh-huh" the elder replied.

Everyone began to take off their heavy coats that had been covered in tiny specks of snow, which were now melting off and dripping onto the floor. Jin hurriedly took all the coats and placed them into the coat closet by the door in an orderly manner. "Make yourself at home, Jiminie. I know this is the first time you come to the house but I'm sure Chaeyoung will attend to you while I make us some food to warm us up!" Jin called out as he ran off with Jungkook following after him.

Chaeyoung watched the two males leave as she removed her scarf and gloves, placing them into a small box by the door along with Jimin's own. "W-wow, the interior of the house is just as amazing as the exterior..." Jimin stated in astonishment, eyes marveling at the modern interior of the home, perfectly fitting with the modern exterior. "Jin hyung is such a humble person but I should have guessed his home was this nice considering the car he drives..." Chaeyoung let out a soft laugh as Jimin's reaction reminded her of her own reaction when she first saw the home.

(A/N: Exterior of the house)

(A/N: Interior of the house)

The interior of the home was primarily shades of gray and white, hints of green plants and vibrant flowers here and there along with colorful holiday decorations. The house was littered with cute pictures on the walls and adorable decorations scattered around. Right by the entrance was the living room, which consisted of two white couches that had plush toys as pillows, a white rectangular center table and a large flat screen tv hanging on the wall.

To the right was the kitchen, where the chrome appliances were snugged into the wall beside white glossy counters. In front of the counters was a large white glossy countertop with and extended edge that contained three dark-gray barstools neatly tucked in. Another eye-catching feature of the home would be the large staircase with metal and glass railing on the sides that led to the bedrooms on the second floor whose halls were decked with hanging light fixtures.

Chaeyoung grabbed one of the sleeves of Jimin's sweater, tugging gently at it to get his attention. Jimin quickly snapped out of his amazement and turned to look down at the girl with the small smile on her lips. "We should go to the living room while we wait instead of just standing by the door, no?" she asked with a hint of amusement in her tone. Jimin chuckled and nodded his head, allowing Chaeyoung to drag him towards one of the couches.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everyone had just finished eating when Jin's phone began to suddenly ring. Jin pulled his seat away from the table, taking his phone out of his pants pocket to check who was calling him. "Hyung? Who is it?" Jungkook asked as he attempted to peek at the phone, but a blushing Jin moved his phone out of sight as he cleared his throat. Chaeyoung and Jimin looked at each other before they watched Jin suddenly excuse himself and walk out. "I'm going to go eavesdrop." Jungkook said with a smirk before following after Jin. The other two stared at each other once again before shrugging their shoulders and getting up from their seats to clean the kitchen.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Oppa, stop that!" Chaeyoung whined, moving away from Jimin as he tossed soapsuds from the kitchen sink at her. She dunked her hand into the soapy water, a satisfied grin forming on her lips when she heard Jimin groan at her revenge. They had just finished washing the dishes, which was the last thing that needed to be cleaned in the kitchen as they waited for Jin to come back. However, a full bubble battle had broken out as Jimin's playfulness got the better of him and he couldn't help but tease the younger girl beside him. Before they made a mess in the already clean kitchen, Jin came jogging in with his phone in his hand. "Sorry to interrupt you guys, but I'm going to go out for a bit." Jin informed as he set his phone back into his pants pocket.

"Is everything okay?" Chaeyoung questioned, Jin instantly nodded with a small smile. "Don't worry, everything is fine, Chaeyoungie. U-uhm a f-friend of mine just had a bit of an emergency and I was asked if I could help out which I agreed to. Now, I'll be leaving for maybe an hour or so, will you two be alright by yourselves?" Jin asked, staring at the two that had soapsuds on their faces and hair. Chaeyoung blew a bit of the bubbles off of her hair and looked up at Jin with a confident nod. "We'll be fine, oppa. You don't have to worry about anymore battles happening here. I'll keep Jimin-ah in check." Jimin's head automatically turned to Chaeyoung, his arms crossing over his chest as he gave her a challenging smirk. "Oh will you now?" He chuckled before his eyes landed on his hyung. "Feel free to do what you need to, hyung. We'll behave." Jimin finished, giving Jin an innocent smile.

Jin narrowed his eyes at the two youngsters before he nodded and turned around to grab the things he needed. Jungkook just watched, knowing he would have to stay but secretly wanting to see Jin become a flustered mess as many times as possible. Jin noticed Jungkook wandering beside him as Chaeyoung and Jimin headed to the living room now fully clean. "Do you really want to come with me?" Jin asked, feeling a bit embarrassed at the things that Jungkook would witness. Jungkook's eyes quickly brightened as his coconut hair bounced with his excited nod. Jin groaned, his now gloved fingers rubbing his aching temples. "Alright, Kookie. You can come with me but I better not hear a peep of anything when we come back home, understand?" Jin warned, the younger male promising to not tease the elder although a mischievous smile formed when Jin turned his back.

Chaeyoung happily bid goodbye to Jin and Jungkook as she watched them leave while Jimin was a bit awkward when he called Jungkook's name to bid him goodbye along with Jin's. "Well, what do we do now?" Jimin asked as he turned to Chaeyoung who was already sitting on the couch with the tv remote in hand and a cookie stuffed into her mouth. Jimin rolled his eyes playfully, quickly jumping onto the couch and laying his head on Chaeyoung's lap, which made her choke on her cookie.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What do you plan on doing for Christmas, Chaeyoung?" Jimin suddenly asked, removing his head from her lap to sit up and turn to look at her. Chaeyoung sighed, eyes remaining on the movie she had randomly picked. "Jin oppa usually makes a small Christmas party where we do all the usual holiday activities. It's always been just us but since the circle of friends has grown I'm pretty sure you and Seulgi unni will be invited this year. Why do ask?" Chaeyoung moved her eyes from the tv screen to look at Jimin when she asked her question.

Jimin stared at the girl as he bit his bottom lip, "I uh..." Chaeyoung raised an eyebrow at the boy who averted his eyes from her and whose cheeks turned a rosy pink. "Are you okay?" She reached out, a hand gently cupping his cheek to make sure he didn't have a fever. "You feel warm, let me go and get you some medicine. Maybe you are getting a cold." Chaeyoung got up and was about to head to where the medicine was at before a hand grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards the couch again.

Chaeyoung let out a yelp, closing her eyes and finally opening them when she felt her body on top of another warmth. Her eyes instantly met with Jimin's own wide ones, a small gasp leaving both of their lips as they stared at each other for a few seconds. Jimin gulped, eyes going all over the place as he looked at Chaeyoung's face that was closer than he had intended it to be. His face heat up much more than it had initially been, but he wasn't the only one as he could practically feel the heat radiating off of Chaeyoung's own face. "J-Jimin..." she muttered, her body frozen with Jimin's hand still wrapped around her wrist.

Jimin slowly released the grip from Chaeyoung's wrist and gently wrapped that arm around her waist, making Chaeyoung gulp as she stared into his eyes. Her breathing had gone heavy, lips slightly parting and heart hammering in her chest. "Chaeyoung..." Jimin whispered, a loving smile on his lips as his free hand moved some of Chaeyoung's hair behind her ear. Although they both wanted the same thing unknowingly, Jimin took it upon himself to just pull the younger girl into a full on embrace rather than doing something else.

Chaeyoung was surprised at first, the heat she felt on her face and the pounding of her heart almost too much to bare. It took her about a good minute before she returned Jimin's embrace, him fixing their positions so that Chaeyoung could, much to her embarrassment, be sitting on his lap. Her face was hiding on the crook of his neck and Jimin was caressing her hair as he breathed happily, a question so simple still left being unsaid. They remained in silence for a few minutes, courage finally finding itself into Jimin but before he could ask anything, he heard Chaeyoung let out a chain of soft yawns.

Jimin couldn't help but chuckle, his arms hugging the girl's waist tighter. "You feel sleepy, Chaengie?" He cooed, earning him a light smack to the chest as Chaeyoung pulled away from him in full embarrassment. "Don't do that, I'm not a baby." she mumbled, rubbing her eyes before she covered her mouth right when another yawn was about to escape. Jimin looked at the girl with pure adoration, his heart filling with warmth as he stared at the sleepy girl before him. "Come on, I'll take you to your room if you give me directions to it." Chaeyoung furrowed her eyebrows at him before he gently put her back on the sofa.

"What do you mea-" before she could finish her question, she had let out another yelp, arms instinctively wrapping around Jimin's neck when he picked her up. Jimin struggled a bit but he wanted to appear manly like those guys in dramas so he tried to stable his shaky arms and legs. "Y-you don't need to do this! You can put me down and I'll walk t-there myself!" she stuttered but Jimin wasn't having it as he headed to the staircase. He did a little breathe in breathe out exercise before he began to go up the stairs one step at a time. Chaeyoung was beyond embarrassed, finally submitting to the male as she pointed at the direction of her room. Various pictures of people were on the wall, but Jimin was too preoccupied with not dropping Chaeyoung to notice.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once Jimin saw the bed he rushed his steps and threw Chaeyoung onto it with a groan before collapsing onto it as well. Chaeyoung let out a hearty laugh as she watched the male beside her breathe heavily after carrying her up the stairs. "I-I'm fine." Jimin lied as he tried to catch his breath. Chaeyoung rolled her eyes and sat up on her bed, "sure you are. I didn't say you weren't." Jimin sat up and playfully glared at the girl before he decided to take the time to look around her room since this was his first time there.

Despite the fancy exterior and interior of the home, Chaeyoung's room was quite simple and cozy. The majority of her room was white, including white furniture as well as a white bedding, but there were baby pink accents here and there. Jimin could see a lot of Chaeyoung's personality as he looked at the room decorations, which appeared to be very well done do-it-yourself items like the paper lanterns hanging above her bed. He could see that on the desk off to the side was a sewing kit and it reminded him of the gift she had made for him as an apology long ago.

Beside the desk was also a bookshelf that seemed to be filled with art books as well as music books, specifically of guitar and piano. He was just about to stop his eye tour of Chaeyoung's room until his eyes landed upon a large picture frame on her bedside table that consisted of three pictures. He fully crawled onto the bed, eyeing Chaeyoung first before he reached out to the frame with her approval. He held the frame carefully in his hands, a smile on his lips when he looked at the picture of Chaeyoung and Jin in matching jean jackets.

"This picture is too cute. We should take a picture like this too. I haven't taken a picture with you yet." He told her, a small pout replacing the smile on his lips. He then looked at the other picture which was a picture of Jin in a chef uniform and a tall boy with a school uniform beside him. His eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the unknown male. "That's Jungkook, Jimin oppa. He's the ghost that's always with us. Jin oppa's adopted brother and the one who died to save me..."

(A/N: This is honestly the most fitting picture ever)

Chaeyoung got closer to Jimin, putting her head on his shoulder as she looked at the picture in his hands. Jimin's eyes widened as he stared at the picture. "Jungkook huh...now I can have a face to connect his name to when you mention him." Chaeyoung nodded at Jimin's comment, both of their eyes moving onto the picture beside that one that consisted of Jungkook and Chaeyoung making a peace sign at the camera.

Chaeyoung smiled happily as she stared at the picture and Jimin turned to her, tilting his head down to give her a sudden kiss on the forehead. "You okay?" he asked softly. Chaeyoung remained stunned, still not used to the random kisses he would suddenly give her. She finally snapped out of it when he asked the question again after he set the frame back down onto the bedside table. "I-I'm okay, it's just been a while since I've even glanced at those pictures. They're always in my room and around the house but I never stopped to really look at them since the accident happened."

Jimin could notice a hint of sadness in her eyes so he tackled her onto her bed to get her mind off of the pictures. He hugged her tight as he rolled around with her on the bed until he heard her giggle. "That's what I wanted to hear." he chuckled, finally releasing the poor girl and laying side by side on the bed as they faced each other. Having Chaeyoung stare at Jimin with a bright smile made the urge of his previous question that had remained unsaid to come back to his mind.

As if she had read his mind, Chaeyoung automatically brought back the topic they had previously discussed in the living room. "Hey, Jimin oppa...what do you do during Christmas?" Jimin placed his left hand on her cheek and rubbed it with his thumb gently which made her sigh happily. "I spent most of my Christmas holidays working and the time that I was off was spent with either eomma or Seulgi." he answered honestly. Chaeyoung nodded, his gentle touch making the earlier feeling of sleep take over once again. She could feel her eyes closing as her eyelids became heavier and heavier.

"Chaeyoung...before you doze off...I...I want to ask you something..." Chaeyoung fought off her sleep to pay full attention to the boy laying on his side in front of her. "What is it?" she asked in a quiet voice. She could see Jimin become visibly shy and nervous as a blush made its way onto his chubby cheeks and he averted his eyes a bit before finally gaining enough courage to fully look at her. "D-do you want to spend Christmas with me? W-we can go meet eomma first since she's been wanting to see you again a-and then we can go eat or whatever you want to do..."

Despite his stutter, Chaeyoung found Jimin very cute in that moment and her heart filled with nothing but warmth and affection. She never knew that she could possibly hold such strong feelings for an individual before in her life. She was glad that Jimin was the one to open her heart up to those kinds of feelings. Chaeyoung also felt quite shy about Jimin's question so she decided to answer him by snuggling closer to the stuttering boy, her head on his chest. "I do.." she whispered just loud enough for the boy to hear before she shut her eyes closed.

Jimin grinned, his heart doing flips in his chest as he wrapped an arm around the girl. He lightly kissed the top of her head, his mind whirling with thoughts of how that day would go. It would be perfect and he would finally be able to confess to Chaeyoung like he had planned to do for a while now, ending the day with the perfect Christmas gift. The excitement of it all really exhausted him so as wonderful thoughts filled his mind, he closed his eyes with a big smile on his face and allowed sleep to wash over him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Kids, I'm back!" Jin shouted, removing his coat and putting it away along with his other winter wear. "Where are they? It's so quiet in here." Jin shrugged his shoulders, both him and Jungkook spreading out to look for the two-missing people. It only took a few minutes before Jin and Jungkook made their way to Chaeyoung's room, peeking in the open door to find two people snuggled up on the bed. "Well...will you look at them." Jin chuckled while Jungkook rolled his eyes. "They sure are close to each other that's for sure. Get the blanket to cover them up will you, hyung? It's not like we can wake the guy up when Chaeyoung's all over him. Plus, the snow is piling up outside so it would be cruel to send the Jimin guy out like that."

Jin moved to Chaeyoung's closet, pulling out a spare blanket and then walked up to the sleeping people on the bed. Before he decided to drape the blanket on their sleeping forms, he pulled out his phone and took a few pictures since he found them too adorable to not keep as a memory in his phone forever. Once he had enough pictures, he finally put his phone away and draped the blanket on Jimin and Chaeyoung. He tiptoed to the door, taking one last glance back, "I wish you two happiness, I really do." he whispered before turning off the light and gently shutting the door behind him.
