Chapter 2

Chaeyoung got up from the bench as soon as she saw a bus approaching the bus stop. She fixed her backpack that was hanging on one of her shoulders and gripped onto the strap tightly. Jungkook noticed her tense form as the bus stopped in front of them and he lightly patted her back, making Chaeyoung turn to look at him. She smiled softly when she saw his own calm smile and headed to the inside of the bus a little more confidently.

Thankfully, there were no other people in the bus yet so she managed to slip to the back of the bus with no worries. She leaned her head on the window as she stared out at the direction of her disappearing home and sighed; the feelings of nerves returned as the bus kept getting more and more full.

To soothe her nerves, Jungkook intertwined their fingers together and looked at the opposite direction of her with a little smile forming on his face. Chaeyoung lightly jumped at the cold feeling of Jungkook's fingers but appreciated the gesture and squeezed his hand lightly in return. She had always hated the fact that she could have physical contact with spirits and she was still scared about what could happen but she was grateful for it at this moment.

Jungkook was a great friend when he was living and when he died she was devastated. She was in complete and utter shock when he came back to her as a spirit and the first thing she did was smack him and then hug him as she sobbed her heart out. She sighed one more time before she closed her eyes and let those memories leave her for a moment as she fell into deep sleep.

She slowly opened her eyes a while later when she felt tapping on her shoulder. She was about to snap at Jungkook for waking her up but kept her mouth shut when she saw the bus driver angrily looking at her. She gave him an awkward smile before getting her backpack and rushing out of the bus as she sent a side-eye glare at Jungkook who was just snickering at her side.

When she got off the bus she stared in amazement at the abundance of people that surrounded her. "Wow, good luck Chaeyoung. This is a lot more people than you are used to." Jungkook whistled as he looked around at all the people in the huge campus. Chaeyoung gulped and quickly began to make her way through everyone but she had no idea where she was going at the moment. She felt so overwhelmed and her vision was beginning to fail her as everything seemed to be mixing together. She suddenly felt a cold sensation grip at her ankles, causing her to fall straight onto some grass. "Hey, let her go!" Jungkook yelled as he shooed a giggling ghost child away that had purposefully made her fall.

"Chae-" Jungkook was about to ask if she was okay when his voice got cut off by the voice of another male. "Hey, are you alright?" Chaeyoung was still out of it so the guy crouched down and softly placed his hands on her shoulders. She immediately snapped out of her daze when she felt his warm hands that had startled her. He immediately removed his hands and looked apologetically at her when she gazed into his eyes, instantly feeling something that made her extremely uncomfortable. "I'm sorry if I scared you but I was worried since I saw you fall so suddenly. Are you okay? Do you think you can stand?" He was looking at her with the most beautiful gentle eyes she had ever seen in her life. He had dark hair, amazingly charming eyes, and the most dazzling smile.

After a few seconds of her staring, she quickly nodded to his questions and attempted to stand but found herself a bit weak from her previously overwhelmed state. She had almost fallen back down if not for strong arms that had wrapped around her to prevent her from falling. Jungkook was very annoyed right at this moment, and his hands twitched with the urge to help but he knew he couldn't do anything for her in public so he just turned his face momentarily as Chaeyoung was still being held in the arms of a stranger.

"Woah there, I think I'll have to take you to the infirmary since you don't seem to be okay. Is that alright with you?" The stranger had tightened his hold on her and her face had completely heated up from both embarrassment and fluster but she was well enough to not want to be taken somewhere by this too angelic guy she had just met. She quickly pulled away from the stranger and shook her head profusely. "I-I'm fine now, thank you for your help! I have to go now, bye!" She sped her way out of there as fast as she could, leaving a very surprised guy behind who just kept staring at her retrieving form.

Chaeyoung hid herself behind a tree that was in a separated area from all the student-made commotion. She brought her hand up to her chest and tried to calm her rapidly beating heart. Once she calmed herself, she slid down the trunk and placed her head on her arms as they rested on her knees. "You feeling okay, Chae?" Jungkook gently asked, crouching in front of her and softly patting her head.

She sighed and looked up at him with a small smile as she nodded. "I'm fine now. I guess that was all too much for me but I'll pull through. I'm doing this for Jin oppa and for..." she trailed off, her eyes shining as she said "you" then gave Jungkook a brighter smile.

Jungkook grinned and he chuckled softly as he stared at the smiling girl. He still liked her very much but he learned to suppress his feelings for her. He did not want to bother her with feelings that would never be returned, especially now that he was a ghost. Despite that, he never once regretted the fact that he saved her because that just proved his devotion for her and he would gladly do it again. He would still get jealous and all those things that came with feelings from time to time but he never let it affect her in any way. He knew that he had to dedicate his afterlife to keeping her happy after causing her so much grief despite the grief being to save her life, and to keep an eye on his childish brother who he loved very much.

Chaeyoung dropped her stare back onto her hands, that rested on her knees, as the thoughts of the guy came back, making her gulp. She noticed something different about him as soon as she laid eyes on him. An aura so pure that was not good for her to be around, given her ghost situation. She shook her head and looked back at Jungkook again, "That guy is bad news for me, Jungkook." she softly stated, causing Jungkook to nod in understanding as to what she meant. "I noticed. His aura is no joke. He will surely attract some bad spirits or even worse. You shouldn't get too close to him." he said sternly to which Chaeyoung agreed. "Don't worry. I don't plan on meeting him ever again. Now, let's go. It seems I have a new student meeting orientation thing to attend." She got up and walked in the direction of the 'New Student Orientation' banner in front of the university entrance.

"Good morning everyone! My name is Park Jimin and I will be in charge of conducting this New Student Orientation, provided to you by the New Student Welcoming Committee. I hope you all have a wonderful first year and it is a pleasure to meet you all!" Chaeyoung and Jungkook looked at each other and then turned to face the eye-smiling angel that had helped Chaeyoung minutes before. Jimin turned to look at the students when he caught Chaeyoung's stare and his eyes widened in shock but quickly turned into a friendly smile as he waved to her. Chaeyoung's mouth dropped open as she groaned, "You have got to be kidding me."
