Chapter 18: Stormy weather

Arthur was standing in his shared bedroom, staring at his feet, eye remaining slightly green. His vision was hyper focused on his feet, listening to the ground being torn apart outside while discovering every imperfection on his shoes. His eyes then shifted to where his metal arm was supposed to be, the missing space was waiting for his possessed arm. His metal arm was in the wardrobe hiding, as he didn't want it damaged, remembering the conversation that led him to brood on the edge of the bed.

"I haven't exactly possessed anyone before." Lewis spoke softly.

"That's fine. You can practice on him without it hurting him. But it is going to feel akward for the both of you." Mystery sighed.

"..." Arthur remained silent, arms folded, visibly pissed.

"I-I think he should practice on animals." Vivi piped.

"No, he scares them away. He can't get close to one, and if he possess a scared animal he'll kill it." Shiromori explained. "It's going to have to be him."

Arthur bit down on his lip in thought, trying to calm himself down, but each time he stopped focusing, or closed his eyes, hell, even blinked, he saw the moment he shoved Lewis off that cliff and into a bed of stalagmites. A bed of death, the sounds of screaming and maniacal laughter following the horrid vision.

Arthur flopped against the back of the bed, shaking as he imagined being possessed again, feeling almost sick to his stomach the more his mind lingered. He didn't want to go through with this at all, it's like they don't care about how he feels, babying him into saying yes against his will. Not even giving him any other options.

"Fucking....damnit." Arthur groaned and stood himself up, making his way to the wardrobe.

Next to his metal arm, was a carton of cigarettes and a couple lighters. He grabbed a pack and a lighter before making his way to the bedside, where an ash tray was laying on the nightstand. He sat himself down and lit a cigarette. He drew in smoke and nicotine into his lungs before blowing it out, satisfaction and relaxation washing over him in an instant, stress being slightly lighter. Less overbearing now that he was smoking something.

He also knew Lewis was going to find out about his pain tolerance. Arthur had a higher pain tolerance than some would suspect, as his shoulder was in a constant ache. He was supposed to be medicated for it, but Arthur would rather feel pain than be fine half the time, it reminds him of what he deserves. So maybe he deserved to go through his most dreaded fear.

Possession.

Just as Arthur finished his cigarette, he heard a knock at the door, before it freaked and opened. Arthur didn't need to turn around or even look over to know who it was. He just stared at the wall, craving more cigarettes as footsteps drew closer until a weight sat down beside him.

"Hey..." Lewis whispered.

"Hi." Arthur quickly spoke, looking down at his hand that was previously sprained. Before he drank holy water it healed very fast.

"So...is there any before talk, or should we practice?" Lewis asked.

"Practice. Just try to keep it in my arm, and don't branch out, holy water is in my system remember?" Arthur warned.

"Yeah..." Lewis nodded and stared the arm down. "So uh...I'm...going to be as gentle as I can with this." Lewis nervously mumbled, hands hovering over the arm.

Arthur watched his movements like a hawk, his body already trembling, mind surging with pain, voices, feelings, physical and mental pains. The voices died into a ring as the fingers gently placed themselves on his skin. His eyes then traveled to Lewis's to find them staring straight back with a focused stare, an intense stare, flooded with emotions.

"Don't burn yourself Lew..." Arthur shakily muttered.

Lewis watched his lips as he spoke. He slowly leaned forwards and kissed his cheek, leaving Arthur tense and a little flushed but fully braced. Lewis then closed his eyes and sighed slowly, fingers slowly but easily slipping inside the forearm, without actually peircing anything. Like traveling through a wall almost, but staying inside, slowly but surely swallowing the flesh.

Arthur flinched and his arm completely froze, and started to wiggle and move on its own. He heaved and closed his eyes, shivering as waves of cold blasted through his arm in an intense feeling of pain, causing him to whimper loudly.

This caused Lewis to immediately yank his hands out of the arm in alarm, face contorting into a look of pure fear.

"IM SORRY! Are you okay!?" Lewis instantly cried out, going to cup his face.

"..." Arthur had lost all color in his face, eyes wide and fearful. "N-No more..." He trembled, leaning down and hiding his face on Lewis's shoulder, eyes watering. "J-Just don't! I-i-i c-can't...just wing it when he get here...p-please?" Arthur began to grow hysterical, feeling the waves slowly die down, and control return to his arm. "N-n...." Arthur hysterically whined.

Lewis immediately hugged him and began to rock him, shivering as it felt very weird for him too. He felt the pains and chills as well, which made him immediately hate the idea of practice. No more indeed. He comforted Arthur, frowning as the ripping of the ground halted outside, signalling that they were now exposed and sitting ducks.

Lewis looked back down at Arthur and immediately nodded. "No more. I promise. No more, I won't do it again until...it's needed." Lewis spoke softly.

"I-I don't wanna go through it! Not-not again! W-what if it goes in me fully!? H-h-h-" Arthur cried loudly into his shoulder, gripping onto the ghost as he could almost feel the exact moment he shoved him off the cliff.

He couldn't go through with this...it was madness!

"Shhhh, I'm here Artie. I'm here. It's okay, it's going to be okay. I promised to protect you and I plan on keeping that promise." Lewis sighed heavily, kissing his head again and again.

Arthur vented his frustration through tears and a tightened grip, until those tears completely ran out, leaving Arthur dehydrated and tired. He stayed unmoving for a long time, going from a tight grip to a gentle cuddle, as he laid against Lewis's shoulder, completely fine with resting like this, knowing Lewis probably didn't mind either.

It was in a moment of silence, around an hour after the possession attempt happened that Vivi knocked once before opening the door and walking in, Mystery behind her.

"Hey! How did the-oh!" Vivi hummed, perking up at the sight of the two cuddled up on the bed.

Arthur tiredly moved his head and looked at Vivi with no energy whatsoever, and Lewis looked at her with a slightly aggressive stare, in 'protect the bean' mode, holding Arthur both protectively and possessively. His burning eyes then landed on Mystery and his eyes narrowed some before looking up at Vivi.

"Terribly. I'm not going to practice on him. I don't want to cause him any more pain than I already have. It's his most sensitive subject, and preforming and acting on his worst phobia is cruel. I'll only possess him when it's time to. Now I presume you came in here for something other than asking how it went?" Lewis asked, his grip tightening slightly on Arthur, who quietly listened and stared Mystery and Vivi down like a hawk, tired, but fully alert.

"Sorry for interrupting your therapy cuddle session~." Vivi purred. "But yes, Shiromori's finished with the ripping apart, and the storm's worsening, so I'm just checking in on you guys. I've brought food as well, and was wondering if we could hang out in here and chill if it was alright with you?" Vivi piped, holding plates of snacks.

"Arthur's very-"

"Sure..." Arthur rasped tiredly, throat tired and scratchy from his crying.

"Cool!" Vivi chirped and skipped inside, Mystery prancing close behind her as the entered and shut the door

Mystery was carrying a blue twig he was chewing on, and settled down before continuing to naw on it. Shiromori sat slumped against a random wall down the hallway, keeping an eye out just because she wanted too. Vivi walked to the bed and set down food and soda and juice cans, grabbing some chips before munching and flopping down beside the two.

Lewis relaxed a little and felt Arthur twitch, before slowly uncurling and reaching out for a juice can. Lewis watched him as he popped it open and started to gulp at it in a needy way. His eyes were almost glued to him, watching every action and body movement, taking in him, all he was, one armed and adorable.

Perfect.

Arthur, was beautiful like this, even without an arm, a sad pain, but it made him unique. He enjoyed Arthur, even though he was missing a limb and had severe mental problems. Lewis had a shit tone of mental issues as well, so he wasn't going to complain about Arthur being very reluctant, scared, and out there when it came to things he didn't like it was afraid of. He had every right to react, as he deserved to have his emotions heard and realized.

"So did you always stare so hungrily at things? Or did this develope after you croaked?" Vivi suddenly spoke, drawing Lewis back into reality.

"Hm? O-Oh, u-uhm, not really, sorry, zoned...uh...zoned out. Wow! Favorite chips!" Lewis coughed, blushing before stuffing his mouth full of spicy doritos.

Arthur smiled weakly to himself as he drank another can of juice, trying to get moisture back into his system. His mind wandered away from being possessed, trying to face a bit of optimism.

Once the green parasitic nasty was gone, he could focus more on just Lewis. He also had to face Vivi's wakening memories, but, he was positive they could work things out. Maybe she would be understanding, as she was naturally, but he knew there was bound to be anger thrown at someone once the shock from the memory recollection occured.

The more Arthur stared down at his can of juice, the more concern began to nibble up for Vivi, completely forgetting about the dangers swarming around him. He was seriously worried.

She could react violently...and with her new found powers she might...

Cause an accident.

The group remained in the room, speaking to one another, and Shiromori even joined in, sitting with them all and commenting about their opinions and adventures, Vivi telling Lewis stories he didn't know from last year's adventures. Talking about the lake, a dog, some bugs, and this cave,

Wait a minute.

"Cave? We never went to a cave." Arthur suddenly paused.

"I... didn't say anything about a cave." Vivi paused, momentarily confused. "Did I?"

"Yes, you did." Mystery nodded, intrigued and slightly worried.

"..." Lewis stared her down with an intense look of curiousness.

"Oh, well maybe we did go to one." Vivi paused. "Oh! I got it!" She smirked, making everyone aside from the blue woman tense. "I was going to tell you guys! We almost went to this glowing pink cave. I got into contact with a few sources as they warned that everyone who tried to go near that place ends up missing, even a few police officers. The road to it was shut down and labeled unsafe. Though, the woman refused to give me the coordinates to get there." She pouted.

Arthur and Mystery shared a look of matched relief, before they sighed, relaxing.

"Well, I'm not a fan of caves anyways. They are creepy." Arthur shuddered.

"And dangerous." Lewis mumbled.

"That's right...you died in a cave. And...that's how Arthur lost his arm." Vivi winced a little. "Sorry, I completely forgot for a second..."

"It's cool. Caves are caves. But seriously, don't near them. Bears might be inside~!" Lewis smirked evily and wiggled his eyebrows.

"What is it with you and making people scared, you made Arthur shiver again." Shiromori huffed.

"It's in my nature." Lewis chuckled softly. "I can't help it."

Vivi smiled to herself as everyone talked amongst themselves, and stood, excusing herself before leaving the room. She gripped her sides tightly, wincing as she escaped the room.

Arthur was starting to give off a bad vibe for her.

She knew he was a kind man, a scaredy cat with an awesome talent for fixing and building cars and robotics. He was always there for her when she needed him, saved her from a lot of bad situations and has even taken the hit, jumped in the way of things, even broken his bones for her, but..recently...

He was giving off this sort of foreign tension, like a vibe you'd get from a murderer. The glint forming in his eye, an oddly green shimmer of a wicked promise to bring hell. This glimmer was almost aimed at her, taunting her thoughts into completely freaking her out, clawing under her skin, purposefully messing with her.

She somehow felt that maybe this thing was almost there, it was a gut feeling, because sometimes he acted...off.

Like there was something changing internally that was beginning to show it's ugly head. Another side of him she never knew, and hoped she would never meet.

"I'd like to kill her." She heard from the other side of the door.

Vivi went bone cold, and froze in her spot almost literally, ice forming by her feet, jaggedly printing patterns into the now rock hard carpet. She slowly turned her head to the door, shivering as the temperature dropped around her so violently that it made her light headed.

"That's what I was thinking when I attacked you. I mean, you sliced Vivi up and rendered her unconscious. You were also kinda crushing her dog,  so don't expect me to immediately become best pals with you. But I do see you are trying." Arthur's voice spoke softly.

"Gee I'm so touched by your emotion. Yeah whatever. And as I said, I'm doing it for M's sake. He deserves to be stress free. And I'm tired to playing bitch.?" Shiromori grumbled.

Vivi almost collapsed with relief, clutching her hair with her hands, shivering.

"Don't spook yourself Vivs...jesus Christmas over a bonfire!" Vivi whispered to herself before standing and moving down the hall.

Vivi walked to her room, stopping just as she grabbed the knob of her door. She stood there, staring at it with a calculating look, wanting nothing more than to kill that beast that was haunting them so terribly. She wanted this horror fest to be over, as much as it and her new found abilities  fascinated her.

She sighed and opened the door to her room, staring forwards.

"..." Vivi's eyes were locked with a crow's.

There was a large black crow mounted on the foot of her canopy bed, staring her down with a calm gaze, but it seemed to be looking through rather than at her. Vivi walked in a couple steps, puzzled, before finding her window was letting in a cold rainy breeze.

But...the crow was completely dried off.

"How did you get in here?" Vivi asked.

"How did." The grow imitated her instantly.

"Whoa! It speaks!" Vivi gasped, smiling to herself.

"It speaks." It crowed again, fluttering down to the floor. "How did...it speak."

"Cool! Where did you come from little guy or girl? How are you so dry? It's storming its ass off outside." Vivi hummed, squatting down, smiling as she reached out and began to pet it's feathered head.

"Where in here." The bird spoke, squawking and rubbing against her hand.

"Did you come from the window? Is that how you got in...?" Vivi mumbled, looking at the window. "Well, I don't think it would be wise to keep a wild crow inside the mansion...will you be safe outside little crow?" Vivi hummed, picking the fluttering crow up.

"Where in the mansion. Is the little guy?" It suddenly spoke.

"..." Vivi paused, her heart beginning to best rapidly against her ribs, pupils constricting as she slowly turned to it, dropping the bird and stumbling away. "...uhm..!" She shivered, flinching as the window slammed shut, lights busting and all sound vanishing...sucking her into a dark silent situation.

"I don't think it's wise, to keep the little guy safe." The crow sudden hissed, the door locking behind her.

Vivi stumbled and ran to the door, yanking and pulling and hitting her door, unable to find the will to scream, unable to open the door. She whipped around and began to pant heavily, freaking out as she suddenly spotted a very ominous glowing green eye from the closed curtains of her bed.

The eye belonging to the silhouette of an arm

"I don't think you are safe." The bird hissed as it suddenly screeched loudly, eyes turning from black to a molten green.

"LEWIS!!! ARTHUUUUUR!!! HELP ME!" Vivi finally screamed, her abilities unable to function, screaming as the arm lunged at her. "AAAAAAHHHHH!!!"
