Chapter 12: To the Mansion
Lewis and Arthur were currently on the couch, hours after the kids and confessions. Arthur was curled up on the couch, laying against Lewis, who had an arm wrapped around him.
You see, Arthur had nearly passed out not long after the crushing hug, because the lovely green demon in his head began to already make good on it's threat. He was still awake, having gotten zero sleep due to sheer fear and paranoia, so Lewis sat with him in silence on the couch, rubbing his back occasionally when the blonde would tense in pain or flinch at something spat at him in his head.
His left eye had remained green, but the whites of it was still white thank goodness.
Arthur was staring at Lewis's knees, keeping himself level headed as he heard nothing really going on around him, all noice coming from his head, that thing toying with his head and making him see things, even when he closed his eyes. In short, he was miserable, but felt justified in bringing it up.
He lost track of time, knowing it was most likely the afternoon, but all he saw in the living room then, was rotting furniture, and stalagmites slowly surrounding them, growing slowly from the ground with a sense of impending doom.
"I can't wait to run you through~ and keep you alive while doing it~!"
Arthur let out an involuntary groan and shook his head, the images flickering in and out as he fought to keep it down, failing of course, but eventually it did all melt away the moment Mystery walked in, yawning tiredly, wagging his tail behind him.
Though, he paused and raised a brow of interest at the display before him. Arthur curled up into Lewis, who was holding him almost possessively. He blinked and looked between the two.
"Did he even sleep?" Mystery frowned heavily. "He's doing this again...?" Mystery shook his head, gaining Lewis's attention.
"He has every right not to sleep as he does having the right to breathe or blink." Lewis shrugged.
"Next time he refused to, just drug his coffee. Make him coffee, resolve sleeping pills and poof, he will be out like a light." Mystery hopped up onto the couch. "Arthur, you look like trash. What's the matter?" Mystery asked, sniffing the air around him.
Arthur looked over at the dog, shifting closer to Lewis, his nose scrunching up a bit, eyebrows furrowing, making him look disgusted, though he really didn't mean too, a mannerism that subconsciously happened thanks to his parasite.
"What isn't the matter." Arthur huffed, biting his teeth together to prevent from shouting.
"...." Mystery looked to Lewis, giving him a very serious stare. "Answers. Now."
"It's...the demon thing." Lewis sighed heavily. "It's gotten very pissed and it's not giving him a break." Lewis explained. "We...listen, once Vivi wakes up we are packing a bag, and driving out to my mansion...I...I think it's on its way. You know, the rest of the green fucker." Lewis growled softly, throwing Mystery on high alert.
"You're sure?" Mystery asked.
"I'm almost positive." Lewis nodded.
"Luckily, I'm nearly fully healed." Mystery hummed. "I'll go into Vivi's room and, once she wakes, give her the news. Keep Arthur from, well, but the looks of it, bitch slapping anyone." Mystery hummed and hopped off the couch.
"..." Arthur eyed him sourly at that remark, but relaxed under Lewis's arm, sighing. "It's calmed a little..."
"So you can here me?" Lewis asked.
"Yeah, I can Lew." Arthur slowly sat up, rubbing his face.
As he was about to get up though, a Deadbeat with a filled coffee mug floated in front of him, smiling sadly and cutely. Arthur gently took it and watched as it hugged the side of his face. Arthur flushed and cooed as he pet it softly, internally screaming at the fact this thing was both soft and cute. He turned to Lewis with an expression of awe.
"Gracias." Arthur whisper squeaked before sipping on the liquid.
"No hay necesidad de agradecerme." Lewis smiled softly.
Arthur shrugged off what he said, not knowing what he said just then, but felt grateful none the less, drinking his coffee to try and wake up more, being mentally exhausted.
He heard shuffling around then, and lifted his gaze to Vivi's side of the house, hearing her humming and getting things out and packed. Arthur then looked over at his room, then down at his arms.
"I guess I should start packing stuff." Arthur spoke softly.
"You can finish your coffee first." Lewis looked to him.
"Nah, it's alright. I can work on more than one thing." Arthur spoke and stood, ignoring the way everything spun around before settling.
He walked into the hallway his room was in, and beelined into it, leaving the door wide open. Lewis watched him go, and hovered up and over, making sure to keep his eyes on the blonde incase anything negative happened.
...
The group met in the living room after everything was packed in suitcases. Lewis agreed to drive due to knowing the way to his own mansion. The group all looked at one another before exiting the home.
Vivi kept her eye closely on Arthur, worrying over her friend. She noticed he was a lot paler and tired looking, knowing he obviously hasn't slept. She was going to make sure she was in the backseat with him in order to watch over him while Lewis drove the van.
The van doors opened, and Lewis got into the driver's seat, and Vivi let Mystery into the passenger seat.
"You sure you're okay with sitting back here...?" Arthur asked weakly as he climbed into the back with Vivi, pushing their suitcases in and tying them down.
"Yup! That way Lewis doesn't have to multitask while driving. This is a new van. Don't want him crashing do you?" Vivi beamed.
"If he does I'm going to kill him." Arthur eyed him sourly.
"You wound me." Lewis pouted.
"You'll get over it, I'm sure." Mystery smiled to himself and laid down, though, he kept himself fully aware of their situation. "If he acts up to much back there, switch with me Vivi." Mystery then ordered.
"Okay." Vivi hummed. "Does that sound fine Artie?" Vivi asked as the van backed out of the driveway.
Arthur winced at that line and gently held his good arm, looking down with a dissatisfied expression. He didn't want that mutt anywhere near his arm.
"Not really." Arthur spoke honestly. "Don't have a choice I presume."
"Nope." Mystery hummed from the front.
Arthur's face twitched in irritation but he did his best to smooth his thoughts over for the time being, just focusing on not sleeping, biting at his nails as his metal arm scratched at the floor softly.
"So when it comes...it's literally in the form of a dismembered arm?" Vivi asked with a twinge if slight excitement and nervousness.
"Not any arm. His arm." Lewis answered.
"Uhg.." Arthur shivered. "I'm going to lose it if I see that thing." Arthur pouted weakly, his mismatched eyes looking up at the ceiling as it began to sway.
"I-I'm sure everything will be okay. We always work stuff out in the end don't we?" Vivi cheekily grinned.
"Heh, yeah. We do. Eventually." Arthur nodded softly as he looked at her with swimming vision.
"Oh wow...your eye.... Does it hurt?" Vivi mumbled.
"I-Is it green?" Arthur mumbled.
"No it's been green, but, the white of its going black a little. Like, spotting in the corners. That's sooo cool and freaky! Imma take a photo!" Vivi smiled and pulled her phone out, opening her camera and taking a photo.
"Was that really necessary?" Arthur growled softly.
"Yup!" She beamed.
A deadbeat fluttered its way into the back of the van and flew into Arthur's chest, wanting a hug. Arthur looked down at it and blushed, going exactly that, hugging with his metal arm so he could pet it with his regular one.
"You're so adorable." Arthur hummed, and the deadbeat in return giggled.
"No you!" It purred in a younger sounding voice, smiling derpy like.
"Oh wooow!" Arthur and Vivi gushed at the same time.
"It speaks!" Vivi gushed and took more photos.
Arthur gently held it as his vision doubled. He shook his head and frowned as he tried to collect it, but slowly felt his left shoulder start to burn and hurt again.
"M-Mystery, switch with..." Arthur mumbled, trailing off as he felt himself go entirely numb for a moment. "..."
"A-Arthur?" Vivi mumbled, scooting closer. "H-hey Arthur!"
"Is he okay!?" Lewis asked worryingly, continuing to speed down the road as he had been sense they hit the highway.
"No! His...oh...holy shit..." Vivi began to panick.
Green was slowly starting to blot onto his left side's skin, his right side tearing up, pupil constricted as the left's was dialated, blown wide. His metal arm twitched before slowly moving up to touch his face, though, Arthur suddenly shot forwards, past Vivi, and into the corner, normal arm gripping the metal one, as his face and skin returned to Normal.
"Mystery!" Arthur snapped sweating.
Mystery hopped back there and looked at him cautiously. He then, growled and everything shifted, growing bigger in a flash if red smoke, going into his kitsune form. Vivi stumbled to her feet and moved to the front, shakily sliding into the passenger, and noticed deadbeats were driving, and Lewis was staring at the back, skeleton headed, it turned completely 180, watching Arthur with concern and worry.
Mystery laid himself down and used a tail to pull Arthur towards him, Arthur walked to the dog and fell to his knees before using him as a pillow, shaking fearfully. Tails coiled around him protectively, and Mystery licked Arthur's left side a few times, and the green eye slowly went to normal, with a different burn, that was much more powerful.
"Comfortable?" Mystery asked softly, liking the side if Arthur's face gently in worry.
"I-I...yeah." Arthur whispered tiredly.
"How long until we reach where your mansion was?" Vivi asked in a tone of concern.
"Well at this speed about fifty more minutes. It's a ways off from the mechanic shop that we are actually passing." Lewis pointed to Kingsman Mechanics that popped into view.
"You should call Lance and tell him where we are going." Arthur mumbled from the warm fluffy shield he was currently in.
"I'll do that now." Vivi smiled softly.
"Don't...tell him about the arm though. Just say we are going on a much needed get away for a week." Arthur then ordered.
"B-But-" Vivi looked back at the fluffiness of wolf and tails, staring at the blonde in the middle.
"Just. Do as I say..." Arthur huffed.
Vivi sighed heavily and rubbed her eyes and took her glasses of, staring at the dashboard before putting her glasses on and opening her phone, dialing Lance's number, waiting for him to pick up before speaking.
She got about three sentences in when Arthur smiled to himself and chuckled softly, mystery tightened the tails around him in time for Arthur to lunge towards the front seat, humming. Lewis flinched and nearly swerved the van the wrong way, but held it firmly, feeling fear slowly die down.
"Yes, a get away. We need it to be honest..." Vivi frowned, not enjoying the lying.
Arthur smiled and blew air onto the back if her neck, making her shiver and flinch forwards, whipping around to see Mystery tug Arthur back against him, growling lowly in warning.
"Jesus..." Vivi groaned. "Later." She hung up before rubbing her face.
"It's going to work itself out..." Lewis spoke softly, gripping the wheel tightly, looking genuinely afraid. "It will." He hummed, his sockets drooping in sadness.
Vivi watched as his locket beat quicker, and growing a little blue. She pouted before gently patting his shoulder, smiling.
"Arthur's strong. He's got this." Vivi smiled reassuringly. "We will exorcise the demon and he will be able to be free."
"It won't work on that arm. We need to kill it." Mystery spoke from the back of it.
"..." Vivi pouted and looked down. "Still, it will be stopped. Arthur is going to be fine."
Arthur chuckled nervously again. "So she says. I'm only being torn in half..." He tiredly chimed.
"Easy there...just relax your muscles..." Mystery spoke softly. "It hurts worse to tense."
"Mystery. I'm cranky, in a lot of pain, and Mr. Fuck all is very pissed. Irs kinda h-hard to...to..." Arthur's eyes then rolled to the back of his head.
"Arthur...?" Mystery frowned, licking the side of his face.
"Is he okay!?" Vivi stressed.
"He's passed out." Mystery informed.
"I don't blame him. Poor guy must be exhausted. Vivi when we get to the house lay down a shit tone of salt, not anywhere inside the mansion, but around the perimeter me and you are going to dose the area around the mansion in holy water and Salt." Lewis informed.
"That's going to trap you though. You won't be able to leave." Vivi pouted. "Holy water on the ground lasts a long time. Weeks before it's useless. Even when it rains." Vivi explained.
"I know. I'm prepared. Im patient. But above all its going to keep that thing out of the house." Lewis spoke with a serious expression, turning off the highway and onto back roads. "Hopefully it will keep Arthur's mind at ease. It might burn but... sneak it into his coffee. If that doesn't work...then..." Lewis winced.
"Then what?" Vivi anxiously urged.
"I'm going to do the one thing he will probably hate me for...considering its probably his most sensitive topic." Lewis gripped the wheel hard enough to dent it a bit.
"His arm..?" She asked softly. "You're gonna rip it off!?" She screeched.
"If all fails, I'm going to possess him." Lewis finished his sentence. "And try hard to eat, the thing in his brain."
"That can cause physical damage to Arthur. Considering I've tried sucking the rest out myself. It broke his femur..." Mystery spoke up.
"Which is why it's my last drastic resort." Lewis huffed.
Vivi looked down at her phone, gripping it tightly, closing her eyes as she felt cold suddenly rush through her as she filled with doubt and sadness.
I just hope everything turns out okay...
