The next day the black motorcycle puled in with two people on it. Andrew and Percy both hopped off and walked, hand in hand, up to the school. No coffee today, because Andrew had slept a full night's worth.
The best friends had fallen asleep on the couch together, like most nights that Andrew was over. Andrew was on his back and Percy slept on top of him with her face buried in his chest. They had woken up to the smell of pancakes and Percy had raced Andrew to the kitchen.
Completely normal for those two.
Percy and Andrew met up with Peter and Jacy by the front doors. Peter had one arm over his girlfriend's shoulders and the other waving to Percy and Andrew. Jacy's arms were stuck by her sides, one hand in each pocket of her jacket. They smiled to the pair walking up the steps and fell into step beside them.
"Well I see that Andrew doesn't have coffee today." Peter said with a sly glance to Jacy. Jacy blushed and swatted at her boyfriend for the comment while mumbling a warning. "Hey it was just an observation! Don't kill me for it Sparky!" Peter still wore his grin however.
Percy, who was walking by Peter, sent the boy a bored look. "This isn't new Peter, you know it just means he was at my house last night." She rolled her eyes even as Andrew looked away with a bit of pink to his cheeks. "Plus Peter I see that Jacy isn't wearing any makeup, meaning she was at your place last night and not her own." Percy flashed a grin on her black painted lips.
Jacy went bright red and Peter grinned. "Oh, so that's how you want to play Jackson?" The brown haired boy raised an eyebrow and leaned down a bit to look Percy in the eyes. "Really?"
"Mclean, you don't stand a chance when Jacy blushes when you just kiss her cheek in public." Percy smirked. "And look at that, she's even hiding her face now." Percy was right, Jacy had her hands covering her red face. "So don't step up to plate when you can't even swing." With that Percy flipped her hair over her shoulder and her and Andrew walked off. Peter had a smirk still on his face but his girlfriend started scolding him.
"Was that really necessary?" Andrew said in a monotone voice and Percy dragged him through the halls. His cheeks were slightly pink but he couldn't help but smile as he thought about what just happened. The grin on Percy's face, the challenge in her eyes, then the words she used against Peter when he called them out? Oh he didn't know how he was so lucky to have her to himself.
"You loved it, don't even try to say you didn't!" Percy flashed her troublemaker smile at him from over her shoulder before pulling him into a little alcove. They always talked here, a little divot in the wall between the science hall and the math hall. "Did you see how red Jacy got?" The spark in Percy's eyes made Andrew smile.
"Yes, I did. I can't believe you caught on to the make-up thing, I thought I was the only one!" Andrew laughed as he held both of Percy's hands. His head bowed over a bit and he looked at her through the ringlets of his hair. "You are amazing Seaweed Brain."
"I know." Percy grinned before wrapping her arms around Andrew and burring her face in his chest. "You must feel so lucky to have me." Andrew chuckled and leaned down to wrap his arms around her.
"I do."
Percy smiled, she also felt very lucky to have Andrew.
They both were a team. An unbreakable-unbeatable force when together. Each one needed the other in ways they could never fully explain. No words were ever really needed for them to express what they meant to each other, all they needed were actions.
Actions like Percy bring coffee and cookies every day Andrew spent the night at his own house. Like how Andrew helps Percy with homework even when she thinks she's 'just too dumb to understand' it. When they both call the other, just because they hadn't spoken that day and needed to make sure the other was okay.
Actions were always stronger than words with them.
Words didn't mean anything, anyone could say anything-both of them knew that, too well. But you have to mean actions, because actions define you.
So they part for classes, but the whole time they text each other under the table.
This gets Percy in a bit of trouble from time to time. Like that day.
She was in class with Peter beside her, and Julian on her other side. Percy was typing the last word of her text: "Tonight". That's when her teacher, Ms. Kol, cleared her throat right in front of her.
Percy smiled up at her teacher and went to just put her phone up, but Ms. Kol felt the need to grab the phone from her hand. "If it is so important to say during class, shouldn't the class hear it?" It wasn't a question. Percy ground her teeth and glared, Peter put a hand on her arm and Julian grasped her knee.
"It's from an Andrew." She read the top. The class sniggered, Percy and Andrew's friendship was well known in the school. "And it starts with you asking 'Are you coming over tonight?' then he says 'Sure, why not'." The class laughs a little more. "Next, 'Do you have anything after school?', then 'No but I have a lesson during Homeroom'. Finally your last message 'okay, see you tonight.'"
Ms. Kol clicks her tongue. "What exactly will you and 'Andrew' be doing tonight, Ms. Jackson?" The question makes Percy glare harder.
"We hangout and watch movies at my house most nights. He helps me with my homework. We have been best friends since we were little, now are you going to keep my phone or give it back." Percy snapped. "Just because you don't have a social life doesn't mean you can try and uses mine as entertainment."
Peter shook his head and Julian sighed.
"Don't talk back to me in my own classroom, Jackson. This is a warning, next time it's a week's detention." The teacher barked before tossing the phone back to Percy, who caught it in one hand, and got back to her lesson.
